Mokotua is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is situated in a rural area east of Invercargill, between Timpanys and Kapuka on the Southern Scenic Route. To the south are Toetoes Bay and Waituna Lagoon; Rimu is to the north.

Brighton is a small seaside town within the city limits of Dunedin on New Zealand's South Island. It is located 20 kilometres southwest from the city centre on the Southern Scenic Route. The town faces a small bay which includes a broad sheltered beach. Other beaches extend from here.

The Dendermonde-Puurs Steam Railway is a heritage railroad that links up Puurs and Dendermonde. The maintenance road that runs alongside serves as a bicycle track. Bikers can leave the track in Sint-Amands and follow the scenic route up North on the banks of the river Scheldt.

Northern terminus The Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive is a designated scenic route in southeastern Wisconsin that links the two units of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. It is cut off from the rest of Tucson due to the topography of the Tucson Mountains, which are only crossed via a small number of roads: Ajo Highway is the main crossing, with Gates Pass providing a more scenic route. Coyotes and Javalinas are commonly sighted in the area.

State Road 590 (SR 590) is an east-west commercial and commuter highway serving central Pinellas County, within Clearwater and Safety Harbor. It runs from running from Alt US 19 in Clearwater east to State Road 580 in Safety Harbor, and is a scenic route in much of Safety Harbor.

The town is a popular launching place for tourists exploring the Snowy Mountains area including Kosciuszko National Park. Khancoban is linked to Jindabyne and Cooma by the Alpine Way, a scenic route that takes travellers past the ski resort of Thredbo. The closest regional centre is Corryong, to the west in Victoria.

Scenic Route, also known in the UK as Wrecked,Wrecked (2013) is a 2013 American psychological thriller film written by Kyle Killen, directed by Kevin and Michael Goetz, and starring Josh Duhamel and Dan Fogler. The film premiered at the 2013 South by Southwest Film Festival and was released on August 23, 2013.

The road became very popular again in the 1940s, but this only lasted until the 1950s when the Interstate Highway System was put into place. Today, US 40 has been replaced significantly by Interstate 70 and Interstate 68. US 40 is still used as a local road and scenic route in Pennsylvania, however.

The highway then turns north, finally turning east before it ends in downtown Tillamook, at an intersection with US 101 and OR 6\. The stretch of the highway between Oceanside, and an intersection south of Netarts, is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route, as is the easternmost stretch of the highway approaching Tillamook.

Nearly 2,000 runners participate. Early Saturday morning, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, kicks off, sending more than 7,000 runners south on Scenic Route 61 to Duluth. The half marathon was first run in 1991 and has since eclipsed the marathon in participation by a few hundred runners. The race starts near the Talmadge River.

Ashers is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is situated east of Invercargill on the Southern Scenic Route as it runs between Kapuka and Gorge Road. Other nearby settlements include Oteramika to the north and Kapuka South to the south. Also south is the Waituna Lagoon and Toetoes Bay.

U.S. Bicycle Route 50A is an alternate route through Delaware and Licking counties northeast of Columbus, Ohio. During planning for USBR 50 in Ohio, this route was proposed as a scenic route. However, it was omitted from the USBR 50 proposal approved by AASHTO in 2013. USBR 50A was later approved by AASHTO in 2015.

Minibus 40, 52 are also available for visitors travelling from Causeway Bay and Aberdeen respectively. Transportation either passes through the Aberdeen Tunnel, or travels along the slightly longer scenic route. Beach-goers may also opt to drive there. The beach provides some parking space, and the nearby Repulse Bay Hotel also has parking facilities.

In 1938 the route was designated Finnish national road 10, but in 1962 a new road with a different route was built to replace Hämeen Härkätie as a new road 10. Scenic Route 899 Route 899 is an east-west regional highway in the Upper Galilee in northern Israel. For almost its entire length of 63 km it proceeds parallel to the nearby border between Israel and Lebanon. In Israel, Route 899 is commonly known as the "highway of the north" (Hebrew: כביש הצפון, Kevish HaTzafon).

Biebergemünd is located on the , a marked scenic route for tourists. The largest single private employer is Engelbert Strauss GmbH & Co. KG (founded in 1948), a manufacturer of workwear. Its number of employees has almost quadrupled from 300 ten years ago. Its annual turnover is in the "500 million to 1 billion euro" bracket.

In 1970, Hutchins visited Lake Monowai, which had been raised in 1925, and was "appalled at the total destruction of the shoreline of this once beautiful Fiordland lake." Hutchins was one of the promoters of the Southern Scenic Route, which was officially opened on 6 November 1988. Hutchins died at his home in Queenstown on 19 December 2003.

Located in Lerik is a local history museum and the Karabakh war memorial, located between of the parade ground and the modest city hall. Lerik can be reached from Lankaran using the A323 road. It is a very scenic route along the Lankaran river and the Hirkan National Park. Buses run regularly to Lankaran and Baku.

From upriver on through the park the Menominee River is a wild and scenic route for canoes and kayaks. This stretch is largely broad and gentle, with a few rapids and a waterfall requiring portages. It connects Bruck in the state of Salzburg with Heiligenblut in Carinthia via Fuscher Törl and Hochtor Pass at . The road is named after the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain. Built as a scenic route, a toll is assessed for passage.

One of the many administrative concerns of the RM was road construction and maintenance. The Qu'Appelle Valley provides a scenic route as the LRT traverses the Qu'Appelle River. The 2018 New Zealand census gave Glentunnel's population as 1,191. It is located on State Highway 77 and the tourist route Inland Scenic Route 72.

Athol is a small town in Southland, New Zealand. It is located on , 55 km south of Queenstown, halfway between Lumsden and Kingston on the Southern Scenic Route. Farming has always been very important in the district, though in earlier times gold mining, centred on nearby Nokomai, was also significant. In recent decades tourist numbers have grown.

Sawcolts is a small township in the southwest of the island of Antigua. It is located to the east of Sage Hill in the Shekerley Mountains, the low range which skirts the island's southeastern coastline. The township is located to the north of Fig Tree Drive, the scenic route which connects Swetes and the south coast at Old Road.

The Ashley Gorge is a river gorge of the Ashley River in Canterbury, New Zealand. The river is bridged at the mouth of the gorge by the Inland Scenic Route, formerly designated State Highway 72. A popular picnic ground and camping area is adjacent to the bridge. Upstream of the gorge the river flows through the Lees Valley.

For a time in the late 1920s to mid-1930s, however, it was intended to follow a scenic route along the shore of Lake Pontchartrain known as the New Orleans–Hammond Lakeshore Highway. Construction difficulties and budget limitations led to the abandonment of the project before the portion through the swamps of St. Charles Parish could be completed.

East of Saint John, the train regained CN tracks and followed a similarly scenic route through the Kennebecasis River valley and its mixed farmland to Moncton and then followed the same route as the Ocean crossing the Tantramar Marshes, the Wentworth Valley, the edge of Cobequid Bay and mixed farmland through central Nova Scotia to Halifax.

As of the 2013 New Zealand census, its population is 558, a decrease of 21 from 2006. Tuatapere has a logging museumOn Natures Edge - Tuatapere. and is located on the Southern Scenic Route from Invercargill to Te Anau making it a well-travelled tourist stop. The Clifden Suspension Bridge and Clifden War Memorial are located near outside Tuatapere.

Illinois Route 100 along the Mississippi River The Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route extends for in southwestern Illinois, travelling through the floodplain of the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. The route has been officially designated as a National Scenic Byway by the Federal Highway Administration. The route coincides with a portion of the Great River Road.

NC 126 has changed little since it was established in 1940, thus the entire route has many curves as it bends around Lake James. It serves primarily to connect the people that live on the north side of Lake James to Marion and Morganton; secondary as a scenic route and access to Lake James State Park.

Monticello Crossroads Scenic Byway is a scenic route located in the central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels through pine forests and hilly agricultural land in Jasper County. It includes sections of State Route 11 (SR 11) and SR 83 north from Monticello. The routes were used by Native Americans and evangelist Methodist circuit riders.

The Dreamworld Railway is one of Dreamworld's original, opening day attractions. At opening the ride was known as the Cannon Ball Express and only featured one stop. The train takes guests on a scenic route around Dreamworld with four stops along the way: Central Station, Billabong Station, Australian Wildlife Experience Station and Log Ride Station. The railway has two trains.

Grandma's Marathon is an annual road race held each June in Duluth, Minnesota, in the United States. The course runs point-to-point from the city of Two Harbors on Scenic Route 61 and continues along Lake Superior into the city of Duluth. The finish is located in Canal Park, near Grandma's Restaurant, which is next to the highly visible Aerial Lift Bridge.

Donauwörth ) is a town and the capital of the Donau-Ries district in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is said to have been founded by two fishermen where the rivers Danube (Donau) and Wörnitz meet. The city is part of the scenic route called "Romantische Straße" (Romantic Road) The city is situated between Munich and Nuremberg, 46 km north of Augsburg.

Aguas Blancas is a small village located south of Lavalleja, Uruguay. Aguas Blancas is an area of dam located at km 91 of the Map 8, is 28 km from the provincial capital Minas. You can access it via the Scenic Route Route 81. The dam was built on the waters of the Arroyo Mataojo, located in the Sierra del Abra de Zabaleta.

The bridge was in length, with a main span of . The bridge had engineering ties with the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge in Halifax. The deck carried the two lanes of Trunk 7 and by extension the Marine Drive scenic route, and was hung from the arch by vertical steel wide flange shape hangers. The ribs of the bridge were heavily reinforced in 1988.

Information on camping, hiking, guided and self-guided tours can all be obtained at either location. U.S. Route 395 near Mono Domes Multiple paved roads surround the Mono-Inyo craters. U.S. 395 is a scenic route that roughly parallels the Mono–Inyo Craters volcanic chain. California State Route 120 approaches the northern and eastern parts of the Mono Domes, including Panum Crater.

As much like other diversion roads in the country, the road bypasses the town proper of Gandara. Travelers from Calbayog and most of the travelers from Luzon cuts the travel time from Maharlika Highway, which goes into the town proper. Most of the road is likely a scenic route where it passes through the green hilly landscape and palm trees.

Rangiora is north of Christchurch's Cathedral Square or 20 minutes drive north of the Christchurch International Airport. It is close to the northern end of Canterbury's Inland Scenic Route (formerly State Highway 72), which skirts the inner edge of the Canterbury Plains, running southwest to Timaru via Oxford and Geraldine. The Ashley River / Rakahuri is just to the north of the town.

East of Sisters the two highways split, with 126 heading to Redmond and 20 going to Bend.Deschutes County 2011 Edition (PDF) West of Sisters, the road splits once more, with the McKenzie Highway becoming Oregon Route 242 and running west over the McKenzie Pass (a summertime-only scenic route over the Cascades.) The Santiam Highway proceeds over the Santiam Pass.

LA 6 is also steeped in history, as it roughly follows the El Camino Real de los Tejas, a National Historic Trail, and passes through Natchitoches, the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase. Its significance as a scenic route has been recognized by its inclusion as part of the Louisiana Colonial Trails, one of the state-designated Louisiana Scenic Byways.

The Corraun Peninsula, also spelt Currane, is a peninsula in County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland. It extends out from the mainland towards Achill Island. Thoroughfares on the peninsula include the Great Western Greenway, which passes through the north side of the peninsula, following a very scenic route. There are 730 people living on Corraun peninsula, 25% of whom are native Irish speakers.

The Northern Circuit is the newest route on Kilimanjaro and takes 8–9 days. It begins from the north, then traverses nearly the entire mountain counter clockwise before approaching the summit from the east. This route offers diverse views, making a particularly scenic route. Being a lengthy, wilderness route, and the only route to cross the northern face, there is very little traffic on this route.

Clark and Mary Willingham are a couple traveling through Oregon. Clark is being transferred out of state, so they opt to take a more scenic route. The two plan to visit Toketee Falls, and Clark insists on taking a road through the deep forest despite Mary's fears of becoming lost. While Mary takes a nap, Clark does indeed become increasingly lost on a narrow stretch of road.

Route 159 travels through Red Rock Canyon and is considered a scenic route. As part of the deal, 500 acres would become part of Red Rock Canyon. Rhodes and the county agreed to the compromise to avoid further court action on the matter. If the county had proceeded in court and lost, it would also lose certain control over any development project on the land.

The A701 leaves Dumfries and travels north to meet the A74(M) east of Beattock. It then passes beneath the A74(M) before continuing to the north- east towards Moffat and ultimately Edinburgh. The road can be an alternative to the A7 or A702 routes to Edinburgh from the A74(M) and M6. It is signposted as a scenic route to Edinburgh from the motorway.

PR 238 begins at the junction of Provincial Trunk Highway 9 (PTH 9) and PTH 27 near the settlement of Parkdale. It follows a scenic route along the west bank of the Red River north to Lockport, terminating at PTH 44 near the St. Andrews Lock and Dam. River Road itself continues north as a municipal road and ends at PTH 9 near Lower Fort Garry.

A walk from the ferry crossing at Bodinnick goes through a scenic route called the "Hall Walk" along the Polruan River. A ferry services from here also connects to Fowey. Hall Walk is along the cliff which is halfway up the Bodinnick hill which winds around the Pont Creek. A creek, which is about in length joins an estuary at Pelene Point near about from Bodinnick.

Gramado is a small tourist city, southeast of Caxias do Sul and east of Nova Petrópolis in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the Serra Gaúcha region. The city was originally settled by Azorean descendants and later received a contingent of German and Italian immigrants. Gramado is one of the cities along the scenic route known as Rota Romântica (Romantic Route).

Beach Boulevard (US 90) connects Jacksonville Beach to the Southside neighborhood of Jacksonville. It continues westward to downtown Jacksonville, via the Commodore Point Expressway and Hart Bridge. Butler Bouleveard (SR 202) begins in southeast Jacksonville at Philips Highway (US 1) and ends in southern Jacksonville Beach at 3rd Street South (SR A1A). SR A1A is a popular seaside scenic route extending from Fernandina Beach to Key West.

Delaware Route 9, a scenic route running near the Delaware Bay, passes north–south through Little Creek on Main Street and heads south toward an interchange with Delaware Route 1 near Dover Air Force Base and north toward Leipsic. Delaware Route 8 (North Little Creek Road) and South Little Creek Road intersect DE 9 on either end of Little Creek and head west toward Dover.

After breaking camp, Were and his men proceeded to Flat Rock, about from Fort Gibson, which was then held by the Confederates. The site of the battle is East of the present-day town of Locust Grove, Oklahoma. There is a commemorative marker on Scenic Route 412 in Pipe Springs Park, at coordinates 36° 11.889′ N, 95° 8.998′ W."Battle of Locust Grove." HMdb Historical Marker Database.

The GGR was organized in 1895 as the Niagara Falls & Lewiston. It was reorganized and became the Niagara Gorge Railroad and operated until a rock slide on September 17, 1935. The Great Gorge Route was part of the "Niagara Gorge Belt Line". This service was jointly with the IRC "Canadian Scenic Route" on the Canadian side of the River from Niagara Falls, Ontario to Queenston, Ontario.

As it continues towards the north, the highway goes through an s-curve, resulting in a northeasterly heading. US 163 continues this heading as it heads toward Monument Valley and crosses the border into Utah. An stretch of the highway from approximately north of the US 160 junction to the Utah border has been designated as a scenic route by the state of Arizona.

Parts of the valley are extremely narrow and are referred to as Niles Canyon; this part of the route is officially a scenic route. After exiting the valley, it begins an overlap with I-680. After separating, it runs through Vallecitos Valley. It then goes over grasslands until it reaches a pass, then enters the city of Livermore with Ruby Hill development on the left.

Following the completion of Interstate 68 (I-68) at Sideling Hill, US 40 Scenic was extended east along old US 40's crossing of the mountain in the late 1980s. US 40 Scenic is the only scenic route in the U.S. Highway System; formerly, there was a second, US 412 Scenic in Oklahoma, but this has since been redesignated to a more conventional "Alternate" route.

Levittown has more than three shopping centers including Plaza Davison and Rio Hondo Mall. Highway 165 connects Levittown with the towns of Toa Baja, Cataño and Dorado, Puerto Rico. It is a scenic route that provides a nice coastal view in which Punta Salinas' radar domes and El Morro can be seen. At night, the Morro Castle's lighthouse and the Palo Seco power plant are visible.

Bicycles are allowed on the road and on a parallel recreational path along the parkway. Besides being a scenic route, it serves as a commuter artery for westend residents who work in the downtown area, particularly government employees who work at the Tunney's Pasture office complex, and other areas. It is also used by the transit systems of Ottawa and Gatineau for express buses.

After first envisioning a direct drive through the Sahara in Tunisia, Libya, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali he opted for a safer and more scenic route around the Western rim of Africa.

State Route 229 (SR 229) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California, running in San Luis Obispo County from State Route 58 to State Route 41. It connects the small community of Creston with the rural state routes. Also, in conjunction with SR 58 and SR 41, it provides a slower, more scenic route between the Central Coast and the San Joaquin Valley.

Waimatuku Presbyterian Church Waimatuku is a small Southland, New Zealand farming community on the Southern Scenic Route, on between Invercargill and Riverton. The community's name is Māori for "water of the bittern". It is home to the Waimatuku Pipe Band and the Waimatuku Warriors mixed netball team. Traditionally, the area has been a strong sheep farming district, but dairy farming is increasing in popularity.

Caution is advised as the tides can change quickly. Another feature is the millennium walking track that follows the Taieri River from the mouth through the lower gorge to Henley. The village is located 40 km southwest of central Dunedin on the Southern Scenic Route. It is located in the Clutha District on the boundary of Dunedin City and 10 km east of Lake Waihola.

The road hugs the western slope of the Imbros Gorge offering scenic views. Another scenic route is that leading from Kapsodasos to the plateau of Kallikratis, northeast of Hóra Sfakíon. There are many beaches in Sfakiá which do not see the numbers of tourists of the northern coast. More adventurous visitors can follow the European hiking footpath E4 which crosses Crete through Sfakiá's mountains.

Tokanui is a community in the eastern portion of Southland District Council, located on the Southern Scenic Route about 55 km east of Invercargill and 109 km southwest of Balclutha, New Zealand. The town is a part of Statistics New Zealand's Toetoes area. In 2001 the area had 1,659 people living it. Tokanui was also the eastern terminus of the Tokanui Branch railway line operating from Invercargill.

Exit 22 provides access to Virginia State Route 5, a mostly scenic route between Richmond and Williamsburg. Exit 25 is for Virginia State Route 895, a short toll connector to I-95 that also provides access to Richmond International Airport. The massive exit 28 provides access to both I-64 and U.S. Route 60 in Virginia. The exit complex features two-lane collector–distributor lanes and runs longer than .

This compares to a crest elevation of just above sea level in today's Furka Base Tunnel, which is long. The old line, the scenic route, which is very attractive to tourists, is operated by the Dampfbahn Furka-Bergstrecke (DFB) ("Furka Heritage Railway") using veteran steam engines. There is a connection to the Rhaetian Railway in Disentis and the Glacier Express runs from Zermatt to St. Moritz, using stock from both companies.

The more used is U.S. Route 209, which goes from Ulster, New York to Millersburg, Pennsylvania (near Harrisburg). The route's midpoint is in the region north of Stroudsburg. The other main U.S. Highway in the region is U.S. Route 6, which is a transcontinental highway that starts near Bishop, California and runs for over 3,000 miles to its eastern terminus in Provincetown, Massachusetts. It is designated a scenic route in Pennsylvania.

County Road 4011 is a county highway in northern Volusia County, Florida. It is widely known as "the Scenic Route" because of the proximity to the Halifax River. CR 4011 is unsigned, and used to be a part of US 1\. The intersection of SR 40 in Ormond Beach is where the south leg of the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail ends and the west leg of the trail begins.

SH 79 passing through Geraldine The highway starts on the Canterbury Plains and proceeds in a north-westerly direction. The highway then intersects with the Inland Scenic Route and crosses the Orari River. The highway then veers to the south and arrives in Geraldine. In the town centre, SH 79 turns right and passes through the southern sections of the township before veering to the west towards the foothills.

The scenic route draws its name of Fossickers Way due to the many deposits of gold and the variety of gemstones that have been found in the area (mostly by Europeans) since the early 1850s. In 2007 a not-for-profit initiative, led by Edgar and Frauke Meyer, founded two societies, Bertha Benz Memorial Route e.V. and Bertha Benz Memorial Club e.V., to commemorate Bertha Benz and her historic pioneering deed. On February 25, 2008, the Bertha Benz Memorial Route was officially approved as a Tourist or Scenic Route by the German authorities, a dynamic monument of 194 km of German industrial culture.

The team was on its way to a game with Utah State University in Logan and had recently refueled at Denver's Stapleton International Airport. The plane carrying the team's starters departed Denver and traveled a poorly- planned scenic route. The other plane, carrying reserve players, followed the original route and landed safely in Logan. Workers constructing the tunnel were among the first on scene at the crash site.

The stones can still be from the ring o bells pub to Pot House Hamlet on the route. Today, the Wagonway is a scenic route ideal for country walks, with storey boards, it is preserved as a historic route and is part of the village's history. The village is also home to "Old Silkstone Band" brass band. The band has a long history dating back almost 150 years.

The population of the municipality is around 20,000 people and the majority of the natives are descendants of German-Brazilian immigrants. The German language or Riograndenser Hunsrückisch is still widely spoken in the municipality. Tourism is the main economic activity, followed by the manufacture of wool garments, dairy farming and shoemaking. Nova Petrópolis is one of the towns along the Serra Gaúcha scenic route known as Rota Romântica.

This change was first reflected on official state maps in 1978. In July 1998, the Nevada Department of Transportation designated SR 157 as a Nevada Scenic Byway. The scenic route encompasses the westernmost of the highway within the national forest area. On June 20, 2019, NDOT celebrated the completion of the diverging diamond interchange at the SR 157 junction with US 95, which later opened on June 24, 2019.

From Invercargill it heads east through Fortrose into the Catlins then through Owaka to Balclutha. This part was formerly State Highway 92. The next section of rugged coastline with poor roading through Kaitangata is avoided, as the Southern Scenic Route follows State Highway 1 (SH 1) to Milton and Lake Waihola. The Route leaves the highway at Waihola and climbs through Otago Coast Forest rejoining the coastline at Taieri Mouth.

Onondaga County highlands now are more heavily reforested, with public parks and preserves providing recreation. Two Finger Lakes in the county, Skaneateles and Otisco, also attract visitors. The village of Skaneateles on scenic Route 20 has become a major tourist destination. At the turn of the twenty-first century, population declined in the City of Syracuse while suburban communities generally grew, particularly with tract developments north of the city.

Balclutha () is a town in Otago, lying towards the end of the Clutha River, on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It is about halfway between Dunedin and Invercargill on the Main South Line railway, State Highway 1 and the Southern Scenic Route. Balclutha has a population of (as of ), and is the largest town in South Otago. The Clutha District Council is based in Balclutha.

The road connects several residential areas in east Berkshire, providing a scenic route between the M3 and M4 motorways. Today, Nine Mile Ride is largely suburban in character, and includes a small selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. In recent years, a number of the older properties along the road have been either renovated and extended, or replaced. A large Romany Gypsy community exists along the Crowthorne section of the road.

This allowed road crews to drive street-sweeping vehicles along the shoulders throughout the week, rather than sending people to pick up trash by hand. However, residents frequenting SR 13 have said that the median appears to be filled with fewer trees and bushes than prior to Caltrans construction. These trees once densely lining the median have long supplemented the lush vegetation on both sides of the highway to beautify this scenic route.

Otanomomo is located on the Southern Scenic Route road, which joins State Highway 1 in Balclutha. On 15 December 1885, the first section of the Catlins River Branch railway opened through Otanomomo. Owaka is a small town in the Clutha District of South Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand. It is the largest community in the rugged, forested Catlins area, close to the border with Southland, some south of Balclutha on the Southern Scenic Route. The town's population was 303 in the 2013 census, a decrease of 24 from 2006. In the census figures, 91.7% of the population were European, and 11.5% were Māori.

Staveley is named for Robert Staveley, who was a runholder in the area and who had his own farm in this location. Staveley is located on the Inland Scenic Route, which is the former State Highway 72. Staveley is located on the Canterbury Plains, in the foothills to the Southern Alps. Adjacent localities are Bushside to the north-east, Springburn to the south-east, and Buccleuch to the south, all between away.

The End of the World Route (Spanish: Ruta del Fin del Mundo) is a Chilean touristic scenic route located in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, the southest region of the country. The term "end of the world" refers to Chile being the southernmost country in the world, which is why Chilean Patagonia, the southernmost natural region of the country and at the same time, the southernmost part of the American continent.

It is a scenic route with a number of request stops. There are no motorways in Clwyd. The A55 dual carriageway road passes from Chester through St Asaph to the North Wales coast at Abergele, after which it runs parallel to the railway line through Conwy and Bangor to terminate at Holyhead. The A548 passes from Chester to Abergele through Deeside and along the coast, before leaving the coast and terminating at Llanrwst.

Colac Bay / Ōraka is a small township situated on the bay of the same name facing Foveaux Strait, and located on the Southern Scenic Route, 10 minutes from Riverton, New Zealand. Surrounding areas include Longwood, Tihaka, Waipango, Round Hill, Wakapatu, Ruahine, Pahia and Orepuki. The town hugs the bay, with sandy beaches, and has a popular surf spot known as Trees. It is a beach break that breaks to the left and right.

State Road 30E (SR 30E) exists on the St. Joseph Peninsula and is known locally as Cape San Blas Road. It's a scenic route, with the western terminus in St. Joseph Peninsula State Park near Eagle Harbor. Eastbound motorists drive by the T.H. Stone Memorial and the Cape San Blas lighthouse as they approach the terminus of SR 30E, an intersection with the SR 30A loop roughly a mile south of St. Joseph Point Lighthouse.

By the post-war years, Wallace's importance for marine traffic declined and its small shipping port fell into disrepair—the Canadian Coast Guard even began decommissioning its lighthouses there. The railway connection was removed and rail service in the area was abandoned in the mid-1980s. The village's primary mode of transportation is by automobile and the village is situated on Trunk 6 which hosts a scenic route named the Sunrise Trail.

Cork were later defeated by Kerry in the provincial series but qualified for a second consecutive All-Ireland final by taking the scenic route through the qualifiers. Down provided the opposition and a tight game developed on a rain-soaked day. O'Connor chipped in with five points as Cork triumphed by 0–16 to 0–15. It was O'Connor's first All-Ireland winners' medal and Cork's first championship title in twenty years.

While the Milwaukee Road promoted the Olympian Hiawatha and its scenic route through Idaho and Montana's Bitterroot Mountains and the Cascade range in Washington, the railroad competed with the Great Northern Railway's Empire Builder, the Northern Pacific Railway's North Coast Limited and the growing airlines. The Olympian Hiawatha was never a financial success. On May 22, 1961 the train was discontinued, one of the first of the great name trains to end service.

The relatively scenic route on the northern shore of the Duck River carries the cycleway further west. Signs along the path explain the history of the industrial heartland of the area including a now-defunct Duck River ferry service that allowed passengers and freight to alight. In this ear, the path crosses former freight tracks. The end of this part of the pathway is the quiet, back streets of , parallel to Parramatta Road.

Marine Drive scenic route, passes through East Lawrencetown. Called Portland Street at its western end, the route starts at Alderney Drive (Trunk 7) across from the city hall of the former city of Dartmouth. There it proceeds where it intersects with Prince Albert Road (Trunk 7), Alderney Drive and Canal Street. Further along, Portland Street junctions with Route 322 at Pleasant Street, and Albert Street, an area in Dartmouth called "The five corners" .

The Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route was designated as an Illinois State Scenic Byway on June 8, 1998. It was later added to the National Scenic Byway program on June 15, 2000 with an addition that extended the existing byway from East Alton south to New Poag Road. In May 2007, the Illinois Bureau of Tourism announced that the route was officially chosen as one of the "Seven Wonders of Illinois".

Oakley is located east of Salt Lake City on SR-32, in the Kamas Valley. With an elevation of , it is a gateway to the Uinta Mountains. Scenic route Weber Canyon Road follows the Weber River to its headwaters; it also follows the Smith and Morehouse Creek to its reservoir in its own scenic canyon from Oakley. The towns of Marion, Kamas, and Peoa are its neighbors, and the Weber River flows nearby.

The year after Union Pacific purchased Southern Pacific and Rio Grande, the railroad closed the Tennessee Pass line, including the gorge segment. In 1997, Union Pacific was persuaded to sell the of track through the Royal Gorge in an effort to preserve this scenic route. Two new corporations, the Cañon City & Royal Gorge Railroad (CC&RG;) and Rock & Rail, Inc. (R&R;), joined together to form Royal Gorge Express, LLC (RGX), to purchase the line.

Hermanus lies along Walker Bay on the south coast of the Western Cape. It is located about 115 km southeast of Cape Town and is connected to the Mother City by the R43 highway (or coastal R44 scenic route) and N2 motorway. The R43 continues to Cape Agulhas, the most southerly point of Africa. Hermanus is 40 km from Gansbaai, a famous spot where one can dive amongst the Great White Sharks.

The R71 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Polokwane with the Kruger National Park via the major towns of Tzaneen and Phalaborwa. The R71 is used daily by people who work or reside in Dalmada, Mothiba, Nobody, Moria, Mankweng, Turfloop and Boyne. The road is well known to touring bikers who frequently visit the province from all other parts of the country, because of the scenic route through Magoebaskloof.

The site is at the southern end of the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route. The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site is situated on the dry side of the Chain of Rocks Levee, approximately 1/4 mile from the Illinois shore of the Mississippi River. The site replaced Lewis and Clark State Park, which is no longer in existence. Main attractions at the site include a interpretive center and an outdoor replica of Camp River Dubois.

PA 5 westbound in Erie County PA 5 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 20 in Springfield Township east of the Ohio state line. The Seaway Trail, a scenic route runs along PA 5 for its entire routing in Pennsylvania except in Erie. PA 5 begins as Lake Road heading towards the northeast paralleling Lake Erie through western Erie County. In the village of North Springfield, PA 5 intersects the northern terminus of Pennsylvania Route 215.

Gorge Road is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is on the Southern Scenic Route and is situated on the western bank of the Mataura River. Nearby settlements include Ashers to the west, and across the Mataura, Pine Bush and Titiroa to the east. The name Gorge Road derives from the main 19th century overland route, which was along a Bush lined valley and gave the appearance of a gorge.

Finegand is situated on the Southern Scenic Route road, which meets State Highway 1 just to the north in Balclutha. On 15 December 1885, the first section of the Catlins River Branch railway opened through Finegand. Oteramika is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is in a rural setting near Waituna and Woodlands to the north, Rimu to the west, and to the south on the Southern Scenic Route are Mokotua, Kapuka, and Ashers. The major centre of Southland, Invercargill, is over 15 km west. No railway was ever built through Oteramika, but at one point, the Kapuka railway station on the Tokanui Branch was named Oteramika.

State Highway 79 (SH 79) is a New Zealand state highway connecting the South Canterbury communities of Rangitata, Geraldine, and Fairlie. Starting at State Highway 1 the highway is 61 kilometres in length and runs in a general east- west direction. 6.3 km of the highway through Geraldine runs concurrently with the Inland Scenic Route (20px), formerly State Highway 72. The road is a two- lane single carriageway, with a one-lane bridge crossing the Orari River.

Until 1998, the route extended northward through South Bend, Indiana, to Niles. Its current eastern (or southern) terminus is Richmond, Virginia. Virginia State Route 33 then continues eastward through West Point to Stingray Point, on the Middle Peninsula and Chesapeake Bay near Deltaville, Virginia. Part of US 33 was created in conjunction with the Blue and Gray Trail in 1938 in order to promote a direct and scenic route between the Great Lakes and Virginia's historic Tidewater region.

The towns were settled in the 19th century by farmers attracted to the area for sheep grazing. Waddington is situated at the intersection of three major roads (two of them popular tourist roads) servicing the inland regions of Canterbury, including the Inland Scenic Route and the Great Alpine Highway / State Highway 73. Waddington's cemetery was initially called the East Malvern Cemetery, but in 1880 the trust changed its name to Waddington Cemetery Trust. The first burial was in 1882.

Busselton Margaret River Airport Bussell Highway links Busselton with Bunbury and Augusta, while Vasse Highway goes from Busselton to Pemberton and beyond. Caves Road provides an alternative scenic route from Busselton to Augusta; Sues Road is another alternative route via the Brockman Highway. Busselton has a town bus service run by Swan Transit South West (TransBusselton), with three routes. South West Coach Lines and Transwa provide coach services for connections to other south west towns and Perth.

Noen Nang Phaya Scenic Point. The old main road was extended to connect with the new one. The road is extended by Department of Rural Roads in Ministry of Transport covering from Chonburi Province, Mae Phim Cape in Rayong Province, Chanthaburi to Trat Provinces as a scenic route and as to decrease usage of the cars on Sukhumvit Road. Moreover, Chaloem Burapha Chonlathit Road is suitable for driving and riding bicycle for admiring its scenic view.

Finally, in 1981, they released a single "Karen" b/w "See Me Smile" on their own Scenic Route Records label. In 2008, The Scenics released a new album of 1977-1981 live material called How Does It Feel to Be Loved? The Scenics play the Velvet Underground. The group reformed in early 2008 and has even played a few gigs to support the release including an appearance at the June 2008 NXNE Festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In 1988, the entire route of LA 66 was designated by the state legislature as the Tunica Trace Scenic Byway within the Louisiana Scenic Byways program. It was officially opened as a scenic route in October of that year with a dedication ceremony that included a representative of the Tunica-Biloxi Indian Tribe. The government of West Feliciana Parish also changed the highway's local name from the generic "Angola Road" to "Tunica Trace" to highlight the route's history.

The highway begins at the junction of Highway 3 in Daxi. The route then passes through Cihu Mausoleum, the tombs of the late presidents Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-Kuo. After the intersection with Highway 7B, the route enters the aboriginal district of Fuxing in Taoyuan City. At Luofu village (羅浮, Rahao) in Fuxing, the highway passes through the intersection with County Road 118, a popular scenic route also known as LuoMa Highway (羅馬公路).

This railway became a scenic route connecting the area with Milroy. Poe Valley State Park and Poe Paddy State Park were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The young men of the CCC also worked to clear the regrowing forests of brush to prevent forest fires. They constructed roads throughout the forests, built state park facilities, constructed bridges on the state roads, planted trees for reforestation, and cleaned streams.

The Edelbach springs in a forest at the foot of the back of the mountain Eselshöhe, below the mountain Edelberg , between its two northern foothills, Sommerberg and Ölberg . The springs are located in the deep notched Ringgrund on the left mountain side. The main source is located on the boundary to the unincorporated area Gemarkung Schöllkrippener Forst, below the hiking trail K2. The drainage basin above ground is about and reaches up to the Spessart-Höhenstraße (a scenic route).

Finally, Mississippi has several scenic highways that run near the state's lakes. These include Scenic Routes 32, 304, 315, and 333. They are signed with a blue shield and run loops connecting to the state's normal highways of the same number. For example, Scenic Route 304 runs from I-55 in Hernando along MS 304 west to MS 301, turning south to loop around Arkabutla Lake and connect to MS 306 and I-55 in Coldwater.

Once on NCR 1, this route takes you all the way to the Scottish border. An alternative route from Harwich is to take the National Cycle Route 51 in the other direction, then take a (seasonal) foot ferry north using NCR 51 to Felixstowe and then either head directly for the NCR1 using Regional Cycle Route 41 to Woodbridge or take a more scenic route using RCR41 up the Suffolk coast and join NCR1 near Saxmundham.

It is one of the largest and most visited parks in Chile. The park averages around 252,000 visitors a year, of which 54% are foreign tourists, who come from many countries all over the world. It is also part of the End of the World Route, a tourist scenic route. The park is one of the 11 protected areas of the Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctica (together with four national parks, three national reserves, and three national monuments).

Some highway numbers are suffixed with a letter A ("alternate route"), B ("business route"), or S ("scenic route"). The Niagara Heritage Trail is a historic and scenic route running the entire 35 mile Canadian coastline of the Niagara River from Fort Erie northward to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Construction began in stages during the early 1980s, and was completed in 1995. The trail makes its central heart in Queen Victoria Park near the main tourist area, and also passes by attractions such as the Whirlpool Golf Course, Niagara Botanical Gardens, the Butterfly Conservatory, and the Floral clock.

Namaqua National Park has the ecological tourist attractions of the wider Namaqualand region. The bloom of spring flowers in disused wheat fields is the park's main tourist attraction. Tourist facilities include a 5 km long scenic route, two nature walks, places to picnic, and an information centre for visitors. The park has not yet been fully developed and the Skilpad area of the park can only be visited by tourists during the flower season in the spring.

The route provides access, directly or en route, to many of the regional parks in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Running east-west along the spine of the Santa Monicas, Mulholland Highway makes its way through the mountains without benefit of tunnels. There are several automobile wrecks and fire-burnt structures that litter the bottoms of the canyons through which Mulholland Highway passes . The native flora of the Santa Monica Mountains are seen throughout the scenic route.

6 mm. gold crystal cluster on milky quartz, from the Atlantic Cable Quartz Lode The Atlantic Cable Quartz Lode is a gold mine in Deer Lodge County, Montana. The mine is located in the southwestern area of Montana, between Drummond and Anaconda along the Pintler Scenic Route on Montana Highway 1, east of Georgetown Lake. The gold mine was named on June 15, 1867, with the name commemorating the completion of the laying of the second transatlantic cable.

It then passes by the scenic route Skyline Drive on its way into Cañon City. At 1st Street, the highway is known locally as Royal Gorge Boulevard. Fremont County, which includes Cañon City, is the home to 15 prisons, including ADX Supermax, the only federal Supermax prison in the United States, located south of Florence, Colorado. U.S. 50 intersects State Highway 67, State Highway 115 and State Highway 120 in Fremont County before crossing into Pueblo County.

Logo of the St. Clair Parkway Commission. The Saint Clair Parkway is maintained by the Saint Clair Parks Commission. The road was the original Highway 40, which was re-aligned about 5 km inland from the river on a new alignment as a Super-2 expressway (with intersections) from Wallaceburg to Sarnia. The road provides a nice alternative or scenic route from Wallaceburg to Sarnia, going through the towns of Port Lambton, Sombra, Courtright, and Corunna.

After a short descent, the highway begins its curvy ascent of Town Hill, which has no climbing lanes. US 40 Scenic, which passes through the Billmeyer Wildlife Management Area, descends the mountain to the community of Piney Grove, where the highway intersects Orleans Road. At Mann Road, the highway turns south to cross over I-68. The scenic route turns east again at Turkey Farm Road and parallels the eastbound side of I-68 until the highway reaches High Germany Road, which is unsigned MD 948Y, in the hamlet of Bellegrove. The referenced portion of US 40 Scenic continues east to its official terminus at Sideling Hill Creek at the Washington County line. Signed US 40 Scenic turns north onto High Germany Road and joins I-68 in a concurrency at Exit 72\. The scenic route crosses Sideling Hill Creek into Washington County and begins its ascent of Sideling Hill on I-68. US 40 Scenic exits I-68 at Exit 74, a partial interchange (eastbound exit and westbound entrance) on the western slope of the mountain.

The road provides travellers between Perth and Geraldton a 30-minute shorter and more scenic route than the inland Brand Highway which mainly services heavy traffic.

The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a scenic route within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, in western Northern Michigan in the United States. The roadway, with its "scenic vistas and gentle curves", is located off state highway M-109 between Empire and Glen Arbor. It runs for through forest and dunes areas, providing access to scenic overlooks of the Lake Michigan shoreline and the surrounding park land. Interpretive markers along the roadway are keyed to the National Park Service's printed guide to the drive.

The modified approach would save a great deal of land acquisition and new construction costs. Another consideration was that some of the most scenic locations along the river had already been preempted by existing highways, railroads, and towns and cities. The concept of a scenic route rather than a national parkway was adopted. As a result, the Great River Road is not owned by the National Park Service, as is the case with true national parkways, such as the Blue Ridge and Natchez Trace Parkways.

San Clemente The San Luis Obispo-San Diego trip takes approximately 8½ hours with an average speed of ; maximum track speed is . Much of the Pacific Surfliner's scenic route follows the Pacific coast, with the tracks being less than 100 feet from the ocean in some locations. However, trains travel inland through expansive farmlands in Ventura County and industrial backlots in the Los Angeles Basin, San Fernando Valley, and parts of Orange County. The Pacific Surfliner operates thirteen daily round trips between Los Angeles and San Diego.

R668 through Ballylooby The R668 road is a regional road in Ireland from Lismore, County Waterford to Cahir in County Tipperary, through Clogheen and Ballylooby. The Lismore–Clogheen section is a scenic route through the Vee Gap () in the Knockmealdown Mountains, between Sugarloaf Hill and Knockshanahullion. In the eighteenth century, the Cahir–Clogheen section was part of the main road from Cashel to Cork city. It was superseded in the early 19th century by the construction of what is now the R639 road between Cahir and Mitchelstown.

Currow is mainly accessible by road networks. It is located approximately 7 km from Castleisland, south of the N23 national primary road, which runs from Castleisland to Farranfore, connecting traffic from the N21 road to the N22 road. Currow Village is connected to both the N22 at Farranfore and the N23 at Lisheenbaun Cross via the R561 regional road. It can also be accessed using several local routes. It is located on the old Killarney road, which is now considered a ‘scenic route’ to Killarney.

Delaware Route 9, a scenic route running near the Delaware Bay, passes north- south through Leipsic along Denny Street, heading north toward the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge and south toward Little Creek. Delaware Route 42 begins at DE 9 in Leipsic and heads west along Fast Landing Road toward Cheswold and an intersection with U.S. Route 13. Smyrna-Leipsic Road splits northwest from DE 9 north of Leipsic and heads toward Smyrna. Leipsic Road begins at DE 9 south of Leipsic and heads southwest toward Dover.

The combined route then branches eastward onto Evergreen Street and passes the local hospital and high school complexes on the way out of Bunkie. After LA 115 departs to the north toward Hessmer and Marksville, LA 29 continues through the small town of Evergreen. The highway assumes a winding path along several bayous for the remainder of its journey. Traveling along Front Street through the town of Cottonport, LA 29 takes on the character of a scenic route as it hugs a sharp bend in Bayou Rouge.

In early 1986, the contract for this segment through the Munjina and Mungina East gorges was awarded. Construction of this segment involved tight control over earthworks and machinery movements, to protect the National Park ecology. The finished road was a scenic route curving down through the Munjina Gorge and out onto the Fortescue River flood plain, with cuttings and embankments blending it in with the natural environment. It was opened on 12 June 1987 by the federal Minister for Transport, Peter Morris, having cost $28.4 million.

Mount Magazine is located due north of Blue Mountain Lake in Logan County, Arkansas, approximately east of the Arkansas-Oklahoma border. PR-3 in Yabucoa enters downtown and continues uphill into the mountains. The Puerto Rico Department of Transportation designed PR-901 as a primary route while PR-53 is under construction, because it is a more direct way to the Maunabo area than PR-3, as the latter has more curves. PR-901 runs parallel to the coastline for several kilometers, but due to the mountains ending at the coastline, PR-901 run several hundred feet above sea level. This feature makes PR-901 a scenic route.

Birds common in the forest around the lake include kererū, tui, silvereye, fantail, bellbird, brown creeper and grey warbler. Fernbirds and ducks from the nearby Tautuku Estuary regularly visit Lake Wilkie.Forest & Bird information panel along walking track The lake is only a short walk from a small car park on the Southern Scenic Route road, about south of Tautuku Outdoor Education Centre. A walking track starts through mature podocarp forest, including rata and leads past a viewpoint over the lake and down to the lake.

The falls are located to the southwest of the small town of Owaka and from the river's outflow into the Pacific Ocean. They can be reached via a short 10-minute bush walk from a car park on the Waikoato Valley / Purakaunui Falls Road, a gravel side-road off the main Owaka-Invercargill road. There are toilets and a picnic area. The small, well-signposted detour to the falls is popular with tourist travellers along the Southern Scenic Route, and prominently mentioned in brochures about the area.

The forest includes of hiking trails, almost of cross-country ski trails, of equestrian trails, of snowmobile trails, of off-road bicycle trails including of singletrack trail, and 750 campsites. All units include a portion of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and most units have horse/snowmobile trails. Several areas of trail loops for hiking, biking and skiing can be found in the northern and southern units. Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive is a scenic route that winds across southeastern Wisconsin, and through all five forest units.

No source talks of through traffic, even in wartime. The closest thing to through traffic were scenic excursions which used the line as a scenic part of a scenic route or in some cases toured the line's stations' floral displays. Often such trains' locomotives traversed the line tender- first because the trains arrived the "wrong way" from Hull or Doncaster and would resume travelling the "right way" after a second reverse at Malton. In conjunction with the Bathurst-Ilford Road to Bathurst, this quiet, scenic route provides a leisurely alternative to going through Sydney to travel between the Hunter Region and Central Tablelands. The part of the Bylong Valley Way east of Bylong is designated MR 208. At a T-intersection near the railway level crossing just north of the village of Bylong, MR 208 turns off towards Ulan, following the Ulan railway line to the west while the Bylong Valley Way becomes MR 215 as it turns south to pass through Bylong, Rylstone and Kandos.

O'Connell Road is a New South Wales rural road linking Oberon to the regional highway hub of Bathurst, where several roads including the Great Western Highway, Mid-Western Highway, Mitchell Highway and Bathurst-Ilford Road join. The road is designated as Main Road 253. It is fully sealed over its entire length and of high enough standard to accommodate B-double trucks. In conjunction with the Goulburn-Oberon Road from near the Hume Highway to Oberon, this scenic route provides a leisurely and surprisingly direct route between Bathurst and Goulburn.

The Friendship Highway (also known as the China-Nepal Highway, ) is an scenic route connecting the capital of Tibet, Lhasa, with the Chinese/Nepalese border at the Sino-Nepal Friendship Bridge between Zhangmu and Kodari. It includes the westernmost part of China National Highway 318 (Shanghai-Zhangmu) and crosses three passes over before dropping to at the border. The 2015 earthquakes in the region closed the highway and caused many evacuations. By 2016 there were some repairs but trading on the route was not restored to pre- quake levels.

The Associated Press described the damage as "the most extensive destruction in the 60-year history of the world famous scenic route." In March 2011, a section of Highway 1 just south of the Rocky Creek Bridge collapsed, closing the road for several months until a single lane bypass could be built. The state replaced that section of road with a viaduct that wraps around the unstable hillside. On January 16, 2016, the road was closed for portions of a day due to a mudslide near Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.

Mirboo North is where the Grand Ridge Road, a scenic route running from Seaview (near Warragul) to Carrajung (near Traralgon) crosses the middle of the Strzelecki Highway between Leongatha and Morwell. The town has two schools. Mirboo North Secondary College (~450 students) and Mirboo North Primary School. The town has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Mid Gippsland Football League, a cricket team competing in the Central Gippsland Cricket Association and a soccer team (Mirboo North United Football Club) competing in the South Gippsland Soccer League.

Cooke City-Silver Gate is a census-designated place (CDP) in Park County, Montana, United States. The population was 140 at the 2000 census. It sits toward the northeast of Yellowstone National Park on a road remaining open during the winter connecting through Tower Junction to Mammoth and north to Livingston, Montana. During the summer the road opens eastward to connect to Red Lodge, Montana via the Beartooth Highway on a scenic route climbing to 10,947 feet in elevation through the Beartooth Mountains and across the Beartooth Plateau.

The centerpiece of the last-built section west of Taebaek, is a tunnel that was the longest in South Korea at the time of its construction, and Chujeon Station at the eastern end of the tunnel is the highest altitude in South Korea at . In passenger traffic, the line is served by cross-country passenger trains connecting the capital Seoul with Korea's east coast. In freight traffic, while coal transport declined, the line carries significant cement transport. In the winter, regular special trains take tourists along the scenic route.

Posidonia Paulilles is located about 2 miles (3 km) south of Port-Vendres behind the Las Portas pass along the scenic Route départementale 914. It is a small scale Mediterranean bay, forming a prairie down to the sea between the Béar cape, and the Oullestrell cape and forms three beaches: Bernardi, del Mitg, Fourat separated by small cliffs in the bay. The original forest has been well preserved and is typical of the Mediterranean region. It is composed of Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), Maritime Pine (Pinus pinaster), Stone Pine (Pinus pinea), for the Pinaceae) family.

Howard Redekopp is a Juno Award winning record producer, mixer, writer, musician and recording engineer best known for his work with Tegan and Sara and La Gusana Ciega. Howard’s production work has received two Grammy Award nominations and one Latin Grammy nomination. His work has played a significant role in the careers of Canadian favourites such as Mother Mother, The New Pornographers, Dear Rouge, Said The Whale and Scenic Route To Alaska. Howard is currently a board member of the Music BC Industry Association and the founder of start-up record label How Weird Sounds.

An abandoned segment of the Redwood Highway, US 101, located in the Redwood National and State Parks near Klamath was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Freeway segments along the Redwood Highway portion of US 101 are not as prevalent as along the Los Angeles-San Francisco route. A notable segment of the old US 101 alignment is SR 254, also known as the Avenue of the Giants, in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The freeway bypassing this scenic route, surrounded by towering Coast Redwoods, was completed in 1960.

The 1972 opening of Interstate 40 in California, unconnected as well as a fair distance north of Amboy's section of Route 66, quite literally meant the overnight loss of business. Burris himself was quoted as saying that his business "went down to zero" the day I-40 opened. Roy Crowl died in 1977, with Buster Burris continuing the business for what comparatively few travelers now used decommissioned but scenic Route 66. Burris was known to have strong prejudices against "rowdy bikers and men with long hair" and chased off many "unacceptable patrons" at gunpoint.

Las Américas International Airport terminal exterior Recently, the expressway leading from Santo Domingo to the airport (roughly 20 km east of the city center) was expanded and modernised. The airport was also modernised, and two more terminals were added, including 20 more gates. The new expressway crosses a new suspension bridge which spans the Ozama River, connecting traffic into the city's Elevated Freeway and Tunnel system onto the city's main street, Av. 27 de Febrero. A more scenic route following the coastal shore provides beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea and of the city.

SR 1 also at times runs concurrently with US 101, most notably through a stretch in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, and across the Golden Gate Bridge. The highway is designated as an All-American Road. In addition to providing a scenic route to numerous attractions along the coast, the route also serves as a major thoroughfare in the Greater Los Angeles Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and several other coastal urban areas. SR 1 was built piecemeal in various stages, with the first section opening in the Big Sur region in the 1930s.

Verbund also offers tours of the power plant group and the dam. Tours on the dam are conducted daily while the road is open between 9 May and 26 October each year. In 2010 a "skywalk", a horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge, was installed on top of the dam for visitors which is also a popular bungee jumping venue.

From Sonora Pass in the north, the Pacific Crest Trail follows a scenic route at the east edge of the Emigrant Wilderness along the high ridge past Leavitt Peak, turns further east from Kennedy Canyon to Bond Pass, and then heads south down Jack Main Canyon. Many other trails criss-cross the Emigrant Wilderness, from Leavitt Meadow on the East side, Kennedy Meadow on the West side, and other trailheads. Highlights include cliffs in the Granite Dome area and lakes such as Emigrant Lake, Huckleberry Lake, and Lake Lertoria.

At Te Waewae Bay the coast is reached and the route swings eastward towards Orepuki, Colac Bay and Riverton. At Lorneville the New Zealand state highway network is joined, and the Southern Scenic Route runs on State Highway 6 for just eight kilometres south into Invercargill.

It is a somewhat scenic route for much of its length, as on one side of the road is the beautiful Gatineau Park. There are many apartment buildings on the east side of the road, many of them occupied by students of the CÉGEP. It is predominantly a residential area, though there is a Metro supermarket, a few strip malls, and a Subway Restaurants location. There are very few other structures on the western side of the road besides the schools, although a small sports complex is located beside the Mont-Bleu school.

Riverton () is a small town 30 kilometres west of Invercargill and located on the south-eastern shorelines of the Jacobs River Estuary. The Alum Cave Trail is the shortest and steepest of the five trails leading to the Le Conte massif, which contains four separate peaks in all, the highest of which has an elevation of . Due to its short length and scenery (it is often considered Le Conte's most scenic route) it is the most common footpath for hikers seeking to reach the summit of Le Conte. The entire trail is within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trailhead is about from the town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, off Newfound Gap Road (U.

This service was one of the most famous in New Zealand, but it ceased on 10 February 2002. For many years, RM (Fiat) railcars ran services on the Main North Line, but they were withdrawn during the 1970s. On 25 September 1988 the tourist-focused Coastal Pacific express began operating along the scenic route between Christchurch and Picton; it continues to operate as the TranzCoastal. In the summer of 1994–95, this service was augmented by the Lynx Express, which was unsuccessful and not repeated in later years.

After US 16 was transferred to the new freeway, Grand River Avenue lost its state highway status along most of its length. Today the roadway remains the "Main Street" of over a dozen Michigan cities and a scenic route through one of the state's most populated corridors. In 1995, major reconstruction work along Grand River Avenue in East Lansing uncovered rotting logs, buried about below the present grade, that had been used as underlayment for the plank road surface in a low, swampy area. The logs had been in place for nearly 150 years.

The North Coast 500 is a scenic route around the north coast of Scotland, starting and ending at Inverness Castle. The route is also known as the NC500 and was launched in 2015, linking many features in the north Highlands of Scotland in one touring route. The increase in traffic has also led to more instances of bad and dangerous driving, as well as damage to the roads and concerns about the environmental impact.

McLennan holds Northern Woods and Water Route caravans every August. The other route would be to follow Highway 2A, a designated alternative route to Highway 2, by turning south at Donnelly staying on Highway 49 until the eastern turn on Highway 2A. This branch from Donnelly till the connection with Highway 2 is . From Donnelly to Athabasca, Alberta, Highway 2 contributes to the NWWR scenic route across the western provinces. High Prairie on the West Prairie River is west of the intersection of Highway 749 and Highway 2, where traffic jumps to about 7,000 vpd.

The entrance to Grandfather Mountain is located near Linville; also nearby is the Linn Cove Viaduct, via the Blue Ridge Parkway. Those that continue along the scenic route can take a short break at the state rest area. Near Blowing Rock, visitors may also visit the Julian Price Memorial Park and Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, via Blue Ridge Parkway. Blowing Rock and Boone are popular year-round tourist destinations; as such the highway between the two towns offers an array of activities include skiing, shopping, amusement rides, and golf.

From Mitzpe Ramon the highway continues past Ramon Air Force Base and Sde Boker. The section between Ketura and Sde Boker is a scenic route, and some drivers use this road when driving to Eilat because it provides more attractions and scenery, as opposed to highway 90 which is considered to be safer and faster. From Sde Boker the highway continues past numerous Bedouin settlements and the Ramat Hovav industrial area. Between Nokdim Junction and Goral Junction the highway forms an eastern bypass of Be'er Sheva, also passing Omer and the Bedouin towns of Shaqib al-Salam and Tel as-Sabi.

Dyfed Shire Horse Farm is half a mile to the south-west of the village on the A487 at its junction with the B4329 scenic route to Haverfordwest over the Preseli Mountains. The farm has provided horses for military parades, and H.M. The Queen named a foal in 2020 in recognition of the foal's uncle serving in the Household Cavalry, and the foal being born on the Queen's birthday. A little further on the A487 is Castell Henllys, a reconstructed Iron Age Fort. Bro Meigan Gardens (6.5 acres) are a mile to the east of the village.

The southern leg of the trail is SR 40 to the east end. This segment begins at the intersection of CR 4011 and SR 40 at Ormond Beach City Hall on the southwest corner of Granada Boulevard and Beach Street. From there, SR 40 crosses the Granada Bridge over the Halifax River, and immediately intersects John Anderson Drive (CR 2803), where one leg of the scenic route heads north and West Granada Boulevard becomes East Granda Boulevard, before finally terminating at SR A1A. The other leg of the Ormond Beach Scenic Loop heads north on SR A1A.

There was also the Michigan Star Clipper Dinner Train which was a dinner train that operated for 24 years out of Walled Lake, Michigan, with trips heading from West Bloomfield to Wixom. In addition to just providing dinner while riding on a scenic route, some dinner trains have developed additional functions, such as hosting wedding receptions, reunions, company retreats, murder mystery events during the dinner. Some so- called dinner trains do not actually serve meals aboard the train. Rather, the food is served in a building or outdoors after the train has reached its destination; the passengers then reboard for the return trip.

The McLean Falls on the Tautuku River in Catlins Forest Park descend a number of steep drop offs and terraces, with the very top of the waterfall, where it meets its first waterpool being 22-metres. It then descends for many more metres over a series of terraces. The McLean Falls are often described as the most spectacular in the region, with its sister waterfall, Purakanui being the most visited, due to it being more easily accessible. The entrance to the McLean Falls River Walk is three kilometres from the Southern Scenic Route on Rewcastle Road.

An emerging concept, a U.S. national quilt trail that first spread across Ohio now includes barn quilts in Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. In Canada, British Columbia has developed a trail. Barn quilts also exist in Ontario and Kings County, New Brunswick. The Vermont Quilt Trail, which includes nearly 50 barn quilts, was begun by quilters in Franklin County and aims to cover the state, concentrating around Scenic Route 100.

At that point, the new alignment was designated as US 126, and the old alignment was renamed OR 242. OR 242 is now considered primarily a scenic route. As a result, it is not plowed or sanded, and is thus closed during winter—generally from November 1 until about the July 1 every year, although snows have closed it as early as Labor Day in the past. Snow packs of up to fourteen feet are common on the summit of the road; snow gates are located east of the junction with OR 126 at Belknap Springs, and west of Sisters.

Grisedale Tarn is the starting point for the south ridge of Helvellyn, and may be reached from Grasmere or Patterdale, or from Dunmail Raise by a path alongside Raise Beck. Above the tarn the old pony track zigzags up the fellside, and takes a safe but unexciting route well away from crags on the side of the ridge, and avoiding all the intermediate tops. In suitable weather a more interesting and scenic route is to follow the edge of the crags as closely as possible, over the tops of Dollywagon Pike, High Crag and Nethermost Pike.

This once served as the southern terminus of the US 27-441 Alternate Route around Lake Weir into Belleview, but still remains a scenic route. Golf cart bridge over US 27/US 441, in The Villages A surviving support for a never-completed bridge that was part of the Cross Florida Barge Canal project, in the US 441 median in Santos. Around the Lake-Marion county border, US 27-441 enters a retirement community known as The Villages. Because of the frequent use of street-legal golf cars in the community, bridges and tunnels for these carts can be found throughout the road.

Two roads access to Weott, State Highway 254 (the Avenue of the Giants ) and U.S. Highway 101, both of which are oriented north to south. Weott can be reached from the Avenue of the Giants, but has not had a significant presence on it since the 1964 flood. Highway 101, which was built in 1962, goes through the upper portion of the town and has a dedicated off- ramp and on-ramp for both directions. Though both roads lead through Humboldt Redwoods State Park, the Avenue of the Giants is a scenic route popular with RV, motorcycle, and bicycle tourers.

The development of Mitzpe Ramon was adversely affected by the opening of Route 90 in the late 1960s. After the inauguration of this highway, traffic to and from Eilat bypassed Mitzpe Ramon almost entirely. However, growing interest in ecotourism, Jeep trekking (access to Nabatean ruins), mountain biking and hiking, stargazing and the upgrading of Route 40, which is considered a more scenic route to Eilat, have improved the economy. Jerusalem Marble, one of a few major suppliers and overseas exporters of Jerusalem stone (established in 1923), inaugurated a state-of-the-art factory in Mitzpe Ramon in January 2000.

Lady Carrington Drive is a designated scenic bicycle trail located in the Royal National Park that runs from Audley to the southern precinct of the park east of Waterfall, alongside the Hacking River. Opened in 1886, the 10-kilometer long trail was the first scenic route to be completed in the Royal National Park, seven years after the park was officially declared. It initially served as a carriageway, although traffic on the road is closed, and the trail now serves as a bike and walking trail. The route bypasses many scenic points along the Hacking River, including Gibraltar Rock and Palona Cave.

Amtrak's California Zephyr, operating three-days-a-week in both directions between Chicago and Emeryville, California, serves Glenwood Springs, the second busiest station in Colorado, behind only Denver's Union Station. The first commercially successful dome cars were built for the Zephyr family, inspired by Glenwood Canyon. Due to the scenery, timetables designed for maximum sunlight in Glenwood Canyon, the proximity of downtown, and local tourism, Glenwood Springs receives more passenger traffic than some major cities on the Zephyr line, including Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Junction, and Salt Lake City. The Zephyr takes a scenic route through the mountains between Denver and Glenwood Springs.

The Millstone Valley Scenic Byway is a historic scenic route located in the Millstone River Valley which lies in north central New Jersey. The byway offers a glimpse into the past where skirmishes between the local militia and British troops played a key role in the American Revolutionary War. This byway has been designated by the National Scenic Byways Program of the Federal Highway Administration as of 2009. The route travels along CR 605 (River Road) in Princeton, Montgomery Township, and Rocky Hill, Montgomery Road in Rocky Hill and Montgomery Township, and CR 533 along the west bank of the Millstone River.

The A8 provides a scenic route to the Lake Thun to Interlaken, passing the former Mystery Park and continues along the southern shore of Lake Brienz for Brienz BE, where it winds its way on up to the Brünig pass. A8 with a view to Brienz, Lake Brienz and the side of Brienz Rothorn. the north side of the pass extends down to Lungern, where a bypass tunnel is currently under construction (scheduled completion 2012). It continues parallel to the Lake Lungern shoreline until the hamlet of Kaiserstuhl OW and then with a series of steep switchbacks drops down to Giswil.

It links Eglwyswrw in the north of the county to Haverfordwest, the county town in the south, in an approximately southwesterly direction, crossing the Preseli Mountains. Before the 20th century, it was the main road linking Cardigan and Haverfordwest, and featured a number of inns to sustain travellers. The road is long and varies in elevation from above sea level.

An exciting draw and a replay with Dublin at Semple Stadium gave Ó Cinnéide's side the right to advance to an All-Ireland semi-final showdown with Meath. In one of the lowest points ever for Kerry football, Ó Cinnéide's side were absolutely demolished by 'the Royals' on a score line of 2–14 to 0–5. In 2002 Kerry crashed out of the provincial championship at an early stage. In spite of this Ó Cinnéide's side still had a chance of winning the All-Ireland title via the scenic route in the All- Ireland qualifiers.

By 1906, the southern portions of Queen Anne Hill were already well connected to downtown Seattle by streetcar routes, but portions of the hill remained relatively inaccessible. The local community club approached the Parks Board to propose a scenic route ringing the hill. The Park Board was not initially enthused. The proposed route was not part of the then recently developed "Olmsted Plan" for Boulevards and Parkways, and the proposed route along standard city streets did not seem to offer the width that had been established as a standard for boulevards, to allow park-like landscaping.

The town is served by Whitby railway station which is the terminus of the Esk Valley Line from Middlesbrough, operated by Northern. It was formerly the northern terminus of the Whitby, Pickering and York Line. In 2007, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway began a summer service between Pickering and Whitby operated by steam locomotives, as an extension of their long-standing Pickering-Grosmont service. The Scarborough and Whitby Railway, which follows a scenic route along the coast, was built in 1885; it required construction of the red brick Larpool Viaduct across the Esk Valley into Whitby.

Northbound in Agawam, Massachusetts Route 75 in the U.S. states of Connecticut and Massachusetts is a scenic route connecting the Hartford, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts, areas. The route begins at Route 159 in the town of Windsor, Connecticut, and ends at the junction of Route 159/Route 147 in the city of Agawam, Massachusetts. The route acquired its modern designation in the 1932 state highway renumbering, becoming a loop route off then U.S. Route 5A (US 5A, modern Route 159) through the town center of Suffield. In 1950, the north end was realigned to extend into Agawam.

The Catlins area has very few inhabitants; the region as a whole has a population of only some 1200 people. Almost all of the Catlins' population lies either close to the route of the former state highway running from Balclutha to Invercargill (which now forms part of the Southern Scenic Route), or in numerous tiny coastal settlements, most of which have only a few dozen inhabitants. The largest town in the Catlins, Owaka, has a population of about 400.Various sources list different populations for Owaka, ranging from under 200 to 500, due to the imprecise nature of the settlement's boundaries and to seasonal variations.

In spring and autumn (April/May and September/October), beer festivals (fun fairs) take place at the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart. The Cannstatter Volksfest, in the autumn, is the second largest such festival in the world after the Munich Oktoberfest. In late November and early December Christmas markets are a tourist magnet in all major towns, with the largest being in Stuttgart during the three weeks prior to Christmas. The Bertha Benz Memorial Route is a 194 km signposted scenic route from Mannheim via Heidelberg and Wiesloch to Pforzheim and back, which follows the route of the world's first long-distance journey by automobile which Bertha Benz undertook in August 1888.

The Mendocino Range rises from the California North Coast in southern Humboldt County, to include Bear Mountain, Rainbow Ridge and Gypsy Mountain of the Mattole Range, and Grasshopper Peak, which is the dominant mountain within Humboldt Redwoods State Park. This area is extremely beautiful, with huge stands of giant old growth, including the coast redwood, Douglas fir, and grand fir. The Avenue of the Giants is a particularly scenic route, providing for car touring of the redwood forest. The Mendocino Range continues south into Mendocino County, to include a mountainous region to the east including the Mendocino National Forest and Yolla Bolly Wilderness along the Middle Eel.

Sheet Harbour Welcome Sign. Sheet Harbour is a rural community on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. It is located in the eastern reaches of the Halifax Regional Municipality, approximately northeast of the central urban area of the municipality, concentrated on Downtown Halifax and Dartmouth. The community is located along the Marine Drive scenic route on Trunk 7 at its junctions with Route 224 and Route 374. Surrounding the branched harbour which its name is derived from, the community has a population of about 800 and its respective census tract, containing sizable amounts of land around the community, has a population of 3,478 as of the 2011 Census.

CVSR Brecksville station, set against the scenic Route 82 bridge over the Cuyahoga River Valley, is one of several stations modeled after historic train stations within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Based on a track bed and rails originally laid down around 1880, right-of-way ownership transitioned over the years from Valley Railway to Cleveland Terminal & Valley Railroad (CT&V;), to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, to the Chessie System. Currently, the National Park Service own the rails and right-of-way within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. CVSR co-operates with Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway (WLE) on operation of the railroad track south of CUVA to Canton.

Valley of Fire Road The western terminus of the Valley of Fire Road is at the Interstate 15 (I-15) exit 75, located at the former Crystal townsite within the Moapa River Indian Reservation approximately northeast of downtown Las Vegas. From there, the two-lane highway travels southeasterly about through open desert terrain towards the Muddy Mountains. The road begins to follow more a more hilly and curvaceous path as it meanders through the mountains. Around the 12-mile mark, the road officially enters the Valley of Fire State Park boundary and the scenic route begins, with the state park's west entrance station coming approximately east of there.

Slumgullion Pass (elevation ) is a mountain pass in southwestern Colorado traversed by State Highway 149 east of Lake City. The north side has the steepest grade of any continuously paved road in Colorado (9%), but the pass does not close often in winter because snowplows clear the route regularly during this season. It has a few switchbacks and tight spots, but other than that, most travelers will find it an easy, scenic route. Technically speaking, the current highway does not traverse the true Slumgullion Pass, which lies just off the highway on the ridge between Cebolla Creek and the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, at an elevation of about .

Originally named Lady Carrington Road, the trail took three years to build, starting in 1880 and completed in 1883, although it would not be opened to traffic until another three years later, in 1886. It was the first scenic route to be built through the Royal National Park, which was officially proclaimed by acting Premier of New South Wales John Robertson only the year earlier. The route was first used as a carriageway from Audley through to the southern precinct of the park, east of Waterfall, described as a "pleasure drive, through beautiful sylvan scenery".

Marker used for National Scenic Byways in the United States In the United States, a scenic route may also refer to a type of special route of the U.S. highway system that travels through a particularly beautiful area. These special routes, which boast "Scenic" banners are typically longer than the "parent route". There is only one route in the country that remains with the official scenic designation: U.S. Route 40 Scenic in Maryland. Scenic byways in the United States, also include state, National Scenic Byway, National Forest Scenic Byways and Bureau of Land Management Back Country Byways programs which designate roads or routes as scenic byways due to some unique characteristics.

On Sundays three trains depart Mallaig for Fort William, with two trains continuing on to Glasgow.GB eNRT 2016 Edition, Table 227 (Network Rail) The railway line from Mallaig is noted as a scenic route, especially as it passes along the Glenfinnan Viaduct out of Mallaig.

The end of the RD914, at the Balistres Pass, French - Spanish border, July 27, 2008 The Route Départementale 914 or RD 914 is the scenic route by the Mediterranean Sea, between Perpignan and Cerbère, at the Spanish border. Formerly named Route Nationale 114, or RN 114 before being handed to the département of Pyrénées-Orientales, on December 9 2005. It becomes the Spanish National Road N-260 or Eix Pirenenc (in Catalan) as it crosses the border toward Portbou. The N-260 is about to be upgraded into a highway, the "Autovía del Eje Pirenaico" (in Spanish) or "Autovia del Eix Pirenenc" (in Catalan), the Autovía A-26.

Parts of the City Centre have been redeveloped under a masterplan called the Unification of Archeological Sites of Athens, which has also gathered funding from the EU to help enhance the project. The landmark Dionysiou Areopagitou Street has been pedestrianised, forming a scenic route. The route starts from the Temple of Olympian Zeus at Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, continues under the southern slopes of the Acropolis near Plaka, and finishes just beyond the Temple of Hephaestus in Thiseio. The route in its entirety provides visitors with views of the Parthenon and the Agora (the meeting point of ancient Athenians), away from the busy City Centre.

State Highway 97 (SH 97) is a New Zealand State Highway connecting the settlements of Five Rivers (on SH 6) and Mossburn (on SH 94) in the Southland region. The highway was gazetted in 2004 to reflect the increasing amount of traffic between the tourist destinations of Queenstown and Fiordland National Park and provides a bypass of the town of Lumsden, where SH 6 and 94 intersect. In 2010, the highway was added to the Southern Scenic Route when it was extended from Te Anau to Queenstown. The road proceeds generally in an east-west direction through dairying farmland and crosses the Oreti River just north of Mossburn.

Carmarthenshire is served by the main line railway service operated by Transport for Wales Rail which links London Paddington, and to southwest Wales. The main hub is Carmarthen railway station where some services from the east terminate. The line continues westwards with several branches which serve Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven and Fishguard Harbour (for the ferry to Rosslare Europort and connecting trains to Dublin Connolly). The Heart of Wales Line takes a scenic route through mid-Wales and links Llanelli with Craven Arms, from where passengers can travel on the Welsh Marches Line to Shrewsbury. The A40, A48, A484 and A485 converge on Carmarthen.

Access to the base station by car is by three routes, each culminating with the upper portion of the dead-end Cog Base Road. The advertised, roughly eastbound route uses the Base Road's full length from Bretton Woods. An especially scenic route, initially southbound from U.S. Route 2, follows Jefferson Notch Road, a narrow dirt road with hairpin turns; it rises to the pass, at above sea level, between Mount Jefferson in the Presidential Range and Mount Dartmouth, before descending to its junction with the Base Road. The Jefferson Notch Road is closed to wheeled vehicles in winterand usually before and afterand used primarily by snowmobiles.

Crossing State Highway 8 south of Fairlie, the line then turns northeast, passing between Fairlie and Geraldine. North of Geraldine to Oxford, the HVDC line broadly follows the Inland Scenic Route tourist highway through the inland Canterbury Plains, passing close to the towns of Methven, Sheffield and Oxford, before continuing northeast towards Waipara. The HVDC line passes through Weka Pass into the Amuri district, travelling north through the region, west of Culverden, to Hanmer Springs. From here, the line turns north- east and travels through Molesworth Station into Marlborough and down the Awatere River valley, before turning north to meet State Highway 1 through the Dashwood and Weld Passes.

There are no public roads in the region; only a very steep forest road from Ahrn in the municipality of Leutasch to the Hoher Sattel. From the hamlet of Ahrn and from the hunting lodge on the Hoher Sattel there are 5 paths to the individual summits. Whilst the Große Arnspitze and the Arnplattenspitze may be reached either from Mittenwald via the Riedberg or from Scharnitz on a partially exposed climbing route, the ridge path of the three peaks, including the Mittlere Arnspitze requires climbing expertise of grade II standard. The most scenic route to the Große Arnspitze runs from the Leutasch over the Riedbergscharte and the Achterköpfe.

In 1978, the tracks east of South Dennis were abandoned and replaced with the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Another bike path, the Shining Sea Bikeway, was built over abandoned tracks between Woods Hole and Falmouth in 1975, and in 2008 the rail line between Falmouth and North Falmouth was removed and the right-of-way converted into an extension of the Shining Sea Bikeway. The Cape Cod Central Railroad is a heritage railroad on Cape Cod. The service is primarily tourist-oriented and includes a dinner train over a scenic route between Hyannis and the Cape Cod Canal lasting about 2½ hours round trip.

Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe The road leads from Bruck in the Salzach Valley via the northern toll booth at Ferleiten (near Fusch) with numbered hairpin curves up to Hochtor Pass, with a branch-off from Fuscher Törl at to the Edelweißspitze viewpoint. The scenic route crosses the Alpine divide in a tunnel and runs southwards passing another branch-off which leads to the Glocknerhaus mountain hut and the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe visitors' centre at . The popular overlook was named after a visit by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria and his consort Elisabeth in 1856. It offers a panoramic view over the Pasterze Glacier, the Grossglockner massif, the Glocknerwand, and the Johannisberg in the northwest.

Route 45 ends northwest of the town line in the Cornwall Bridge section of town, at an intersection with U.S. Route 7 near the Housatonic River, which runs along the western town line of Cornwall. The portion of Route 45 running along the east shore of Lake Waramaug is a state-designated scenic route. It runs from milepost 0.56 at West Shore Road in Washington to milepost 2.15 at North Shore Road in Warren.Connecticut State Scenic Roads In 2010, the 0.50-mile segment of Route 45 running from the Junction with Route 202, through New Preston village, to the intersection with East Shore Road and Flirtation Avenue, also received state scenic designation.

The scenic designation not only encourages sightseeing but also prevents certain developments alongside and on the road itself that would alter its appearance, including rerouting and widening. In July 1990, a four-mile (6 km) section through the town center of Sharon, between Boland Road and Cole Road, was designated as a scenic road. In October 1992, the scenic designation was extended an additional to cover the length of the route within the town of Sharon. The following year, the town of Salisbury applied for and received approval for a scenic designation for its portion of Route 41, which resulted in the entire length of Route 41 being designated a scenic route.

The district administration has chosen the Chari Dhandh wetland to create basic facilities for tourists. The Gujarat State forest department is preparing a project for Chari Dhandh development along with Dhinodhar hills in Nakhatrana taluka to make a circuit comprising Dhorado in interior Banni, Chari Dhandh and Dhinodhar to be a scenic route for nature lovers. As it is shallow water body, it could be used to promote boating providing employment to the local people, whose main activity has been restricted to fishing till now. There is also a suggestion to set up a Nature Interpretation Centre at the nearby Fulary village, the centre will provide knowledge of the wetland to the tourists.

Established in 1981 the walk is administered, maintained and promoted by 'The Friends of the Great South West Walk Inc', a wholly volunteer organisation, in partnership with Parks Victoria. The Portland Cable Tram was established as a community organisation in June 1996, with the view to laying light rail to carry refurbished diesel powered trams, as both an outlet for rail and heritage enthusiasts and a tourist venture. The tram carries passengers along the scenic route from Henty Park to the World War 2 Memorial Lookout, at the old North Portland Water Tower. The route takes in the natural wetlands (tidal) of Fawthrop Lagoon Park, the foreshore, cliff tops and botanic gardens.

The south-western boundary is variously considered to be either a minor tributary of the River Beauly separating Beauly (in Inverness-shire) and Muir of Ord (on the Black Isle in Ross and Cromarty), dividing the two counties and also delineating the start of the Black Isle; or alternatively, the River Beauly itself, thus including Beauly in the Black Isle despite its official placement in Inverness-shire.Black Isle Info There are modern road bridges across the Cromarty and Beauly Firths, which carry the A9 trunk road across the heart of the Black Isle. The last remaining ferry is a summer service from Cromarty to Nigg. The North Coast 500 scenic route crosses the base of the peninsula.

The N11 is arguably the worst road in South Africa, as it carries 1000 trucks a day due to being an alternate route between Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal to the N3 freeway. (Avoiding Pretoria and Johannesburg; Avoiding Gauteng Province) (Being an alternative national route towards Botswana and Zimbabwe when coming from the port of Durban) Newcastle is the largest and main city along this scenic route. SANRAL has plans for upgrading the Newcastle bypass which encompasses bulking up of the various interchanges and partial realignment of the route. Currently this route is experiencing major roadwork and upgrade between Middelburg and Ermelo, Volksrust and Newcastle, Newcastle to the R68 Dundee interchange and Ladysmith to the N3 freeway.

Route 132 is the longest highway in Quebec. It follows the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River from the border with the state of New York in the hamlet of Dundee (connecting with New York State Route 37 (NY 37) via NY 970T, an unsigned reference route, north of Massena), west of Montreal to the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and circles the Gaspé Peninsula. This highway is known as the Navigator's Route. It passes through the Montérégie, Centre-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie regions of the province. Unlike the more direct Autoroute 20, which it shadows from Longueuil to Luceville, Route 132 takes a more scenic route which goes through many historic small towns.

US 9 remains close to the interstate for the next into the town of North Hudson, where Boreas Road provides access to the Dix Mountain Wilderness Area the southernmost in the Adirondack High Peaks region. The highway again crosses the interstate to connect I-87 to the western terminus of NY 73, the well-traveled scenic route to Keene Valley and Lake Placid. At this ornate junction, US 9 is at 1,155 feet (340 m) above sea level, the highest elevation it reaches along its entire length. The right turn takes it again to the northeast past Rocky Peak Ridge and the Giant Mountain Wilderness Area, to the hamlet of New Russia.

Bombah Point Ferry Bombah Point is on the mid north coast of New South Wales, (Australia). Located at the centre of the Myall Lakes National Park which spans between Hawks Nest in the south and Seal Rocks in the north. Bombah Point is part of the coastal scenic route between Bulahdelah and Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens provides an alternative to the busy Pacific Highway, the historic car ferry at Bombah Point is the crossing point on the lake system. Traditionally Aboriginal groups would use this, the narrowest crossing point on the 4 lake system, to move from summer hunting grounds in the hills towards Barrington Tops to winter grounds on the coast.

Alpine makes a central base for exploring area attractions: the Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Davis Mountains State Park with its Indian Lodge, the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center and Botanical Gardens, and the McDonald Observatory, perched atop Mt Locke at 6,790 feet. Also worth visiting are Marathon with its iconic Gage Hotel; the historic hotel Limpia of Fort Davis; Marfa with the Chinati Foundation Museum of Minimalist Art; the ghost town of Terlingua and the golf resort of Lajitas; and the River Road, FM 170, a 120-mile scenic route through the majestic Rio Grande Valley between Presidio and the Big Bend parks.

The double-loop course of the Yonkers Marathon has been known as being tough and hilly; New York City Marathon founder Fred Lebow cited it as one of his favorite marathons. For its 90th running in 2015 the track had a newly designed course that added greater variety by eliminating the double-loop, and replacing it with a single-loop that followed a scenic route along the Hudson River, and then all over the city, past parks, past the Dunwoodie Golf Course (offering a glimpse of the distant New York City skyline), and through a variety of neighborhoods.Official website Aris, Hezi. New York State Route 97 (NY 97) is a north–south scenic route in southern New York in the United States. It runs from U.S. Route 6 (US 6) and US 209 in Port Jervis to NY 17 (Future Interstate 86) in Hancock. Its most famous feature is the Hawk's Nest, a tightly winding section of the road along the Delaware River, located a few miles north of Port Jervis. NY 97 intersects NY 52 in Narrowsburg and indirectly connects to three Pennsylvania state highways due to its proximity to the state line. The New York State Legislature created Route 3-a, an unsigned legislative route extending from Port Jervis to Hancock along the Delaware River, in 1911.

Lawrence Park is located on the Avenue G Island. The Sinnissippi Dam Walkway and Martin's Landing officially opened on September 20, 2008, after years of combined effort from the Sterling Park District, the City of Sterling, the City of Rock Falls, the Coloma Township Park District and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The Sinnissippi Dam Walkway provides a link between the ever-expanding trail system in Sterling and the Hennepin Feeder Canal in Rock Falls. The Sinnissippi Dam Walkway offers bicyclists, runners, walkers and other recreational users a safe and scenic route across the Rock River and Martin's Landing is the welcoming point to Sterling and the entry to the ever-expanding trail system in Sterling.

Draper finished second on the Public Health Service exam, out of about 25 examinees, and in August 1910 reported to his first assignment at the quarantine station on Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay. Having seldom been far from their homes, Draper and his wife traveled the scenic route to the West Coast by taking the Canadian Pacific Railway over the Rocky Mountains to Vancouver, followed by a boat trip to Seattle, and then another train to San Francisco. Work at the quarantine station involved meeting and boarding ships arriving from Asia, and inspecting all of the passengers for plague, yellow fever, small pox, typhus, and leprocy. If any individuals were suspected of having any of these diseases, they were taken to the station for quarantine.

In Instruments of Darkness, a novel by Gary Russell published as part of the Past Doctor Adventures line, it was stated that the Doctor did eventually bring Evelyn back to Earth, albeit ten years before she actually left, forcing her to lie low so as not to interfere with the life of her younger self. At the end of Instruments, the Doctor (at this point travelling with Mel) agreed to take Evelyn back to her proper time, and to take the "scenic route", implying further adventures. The novel also featured the first meeting between Evelyn and Mel. How these events can be reconciled with those in Thicker than Water is not clear, and supports the proposition that the novels and audios take place in separate continuities.

The official explanation was to tie into the history of Native Americans in the area, but the route was also "straight as an arrow". The backers also promoted the highway as a direct and scenic route to vacation country in the northern Lower Peninsula, avoiding most of the larger cities in the area. M-66 was given the Green Arrow Route name in Public Act 170 of 1959 between the Indiana state line and Kalkaska. Despite these efforts, M-66 failed to attract much traffic. When the Michigan Legislature recodified the memorial highway names in Public Act 142 of 2001, the Green Arrow Route was truncated to the northern border of Calhoun County, a change confirmed by Public Act 138 of 2004.

The Catalina Highway, officially the General Hitchcock Highway, is the popular name for a Forest Highway and scenic route located in Pima County in southern Arizona. Also known as the Sky Island Scenic Byway, the Mount Lemmon Highway and Arizona Forest Highway 39, the Catalina Highway is the only paved roadway providing access to the resort village of Summerhaven as well as various recreational and scientific facilities located near the summit of Mount Lemmon. Ascending from the desert floor in Tucson to near the summit of Mount Lemmon, the short highway gains over , showcasing a variety of climates ranging from lowland desert to alpine forests. The name sky island comes from the analogy of these mountains being like islands of forest in a sea of desert.

However, both technical problems (in connection between the engine and the transmission) and religious issues (Haredi Jews had problems with women sitting above and in front of them) led to gradual decline in use of these double-deckers. They were removed from the last major line operating them, the Tel-Aviv—Jerusalem line (480), in the end of the 1990s, worked for some time on local lines in the Shfela region, and in the beginning of 2000s were finally removed from service. Some of the buses were sold to an auto dealer from Jordan, who in turn sold them to Iraq and other countries of the Persian gulf. In August 2005, three double-deckers returned to service on line 99 "Scenic route" in Jerusalem.

SR-24 between Loa and Lyman The highway starts at US-50 near Salina and ends at I-70 near Green River, taking a scenic route between the Fishlake and Dixie National Forests then through Capitol Reef National Park, along the eastern side of the San Rafael Reef passing Goblin Valley State Park and meeting I-70 again near Green River. Along the way, it passes through the towns of Loa, Lyman, Bicknell, Torrey and Hanksville. Portion of Capitol Reef along SR-24 The Mars Society established the Mars Desert Research Station just outside Hanksville, due to its Mars-like terrain . The north easterly section past the San Rafael Reef is open desert with distant views of the Henry and La Sal Mountains.

Some 250 convicts were used to carry out the demanding work of constructing the new road. The project was eventually completed after four years' work at a cost of ₤35,799 and opened to traffic in December 1847, with the ceremonial opening taking place on 19 January 1848, and John Montagu personally attending. Montagu Pass served as the main road over the Outeniquas for more than 100 years and it was only with the completion of the Outeniqua Pass in 1951 that this old pass became no more than a scenic route. Montagu suggested that the tiny roadcamp and village that grew at the foot of the mountain be named "White's Village" in honour of Henry Fancourt White, but this was subsequently changed to "Blanco".

US 40 Scenic begins as Fifteen Mile Creek Road on the edge of Green Ridge State Forest south of the eastbound ramps for Exit 62 of I-68 and US 40 (National Freeway). Fifteen Mile Creek Road continues south as an unimproved road through Green Ridge State Forest. US 40 Scenic passes over I-68 and passes by the westbound Exit 62 ramps before intersecting the eastern end of MD 144 (Old National Pike), which heads west as the local complement to the National Freeway. The scenic route continues as National Pike, crosses Fifteenmile Creek, then makes a sharp curve to the east, intersecting another section of Fifteen Mile Creek Road and beginning the short climb to the top of Green Ridge.

The Child Run is the largest family fun run in Vancouver, with a 5K for runners and walkers on a scenic route through Queen Elizabeth Park and a 1K fun run, followed by a carnival celebration. Proceeds support British Columbia's Children's Hospital and their fight against childhood cancer. This year, 2014, the run had over 6,000 participants and raised over $1 million. In 2013, Wilson made her first philanthropic endeavor when she and her husband pledged $12 million to launch the Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (Richmond campus). The school will break ground in Fall 2013 and will include new teaching studios, gallery space for student exhibitions and a “usability lab” where students can design, prototype and market product concepts.

Crossing the Kaaimans River into Wilderness Train with Diesel locomotive No 32042 from Transnet The Outeniqua Choo Tjoe was the last remaining continually-operated passenger steam train in Africa, ending operation in June 2009. The railway was completed in 1928, and links the towns of George and Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa. The scenic route took 3 hours, following the rugged coastline of the Garden Route, passing through Victoria Bay, Wilderness, Goukamma, and Sedgefield before ending by crossing a bridge over the lagoon in Knysna. It was declared an officially preserved railway in 1992, carrying about 40,000 passengers per year at the time. A decade later, it carried 115,000 passengers per year, 70% of whom were foreign tourists.

Recent investment in public transport infrastructure can be witnessed on Church Road as part of the second showcase bus route in Bristol. The scheme is a collaboration between Bristol City Council and First, one of the city’s bus transport providers, designed to provide improvements to existing services and offer more reliable, convenient and safe alternatives to travelling by car. The showcase bus route runs from the City Centre out to the suburbs of Kingswood and Hanham. The nearby Lawrence Hill railway station serves the Redfield population and provides an easy access point to the Severn Beach Line running from Bristol Temple Meads railway station out to Severn Beach, the line has been listed among Thomas Cook's most favoured attractions for its scenic route along the River Avon and River Severn.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway is a linear park and stream restoration project in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.Little Sugar Creek Greenway connects urban spaces with nature, by Jennifer Ford, April 20, 2012 When completed it will consist of twenty miles of trails and paved walkways running from Cordelia Park just north of uptown Charlotte, then south through midtown Charlotte, and continuing all the way to the South Carolina state line. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway will be a key part of the Carolina Thread Trail, a regionwide network of trails that will ultimately pass through 15 counties.^ Charlotte Observer: Greenways offer a scenic route through town, by Corey Inscoe, July 25, 2012 Greenways are narrow strips of land, planted and managed to provide both human recreation and wildlife habitat.

The scenic route includes an officially referenced and fully state-maintained section that runs from Fifteen Mile Creek Road in Green Ridge State Forest near Exit 62 of I-68 and US 40 to the Washington County line within eastern Allegany County. US 40 Scenic also includes an unofficial but signed section in western Washington County that has a concurrency with I-68 and has sections maintained by the Maryland State Highway Administration and Washington County. The solely signed section runs from the official section at High Germany Road near I-68 Exit 72 just west of the Allegany-Washington county line east to MD 144 near I-68 Exit 77 west of Hancock. The signed section between Fifteen Mile Creek Road and MD 144 is eastbound and westbound.

The rest of the park, , is dominated by a large grassy valley, bisected by the Brockhill Stream, as it makes its way down to the Royal Military Canal in Hythe and has excellent views (from the park) to the English Channel. There are two sign posted trails around the park ranging from 3 – 6 miles (5 - 9.6 km) long, the walks are linked to the Saxon Shore Way, offering potential routes for long distance walkers. The lake trail takes up to 30 minutes (accessed by a sloped path), whilst the valley walk takes about 45 minutes and offers a scenic route around the valley at the southern end of the site. As well as leading around the Deer Paddock which is a meadow enclosed with trees, including walnut and variegated sycamore.

Mitchell has acted in Permanent Vacation (1980) by Jim Jarmusch and in Amos Poe's no wave classics Unmade Beds (1976) and The Foreigner (1978), where he plays a young Frenchman in New York that is hotly pursued up and down the busy streets of New York City by thugs. A set of bilingual signs on the A82 in Crianlarich At , the A82 is the second longest A-road in Scotland, after the A9, and has been described as the "slower but more scenic route" of the two. Initial sections of the road were built by General George Wade from 1724 onwards, though much of the current route was constructed by Thomas Telford in the 19th century. The A82 was one of the first trunk roads, which were created in 1936, and has historically been described in official government documentation as part of the "London – Carlisle – Glasgow – Inverness Trunk Road" in which the A6 and A74 made up the rest of the route. On 1 April 1996, however, the section from Glasgow to the Dalnottar Interchange with the A898 was detrunked.

The valley is known for its many waterfalls during snowmelt season, therefore also called the 'Valley of Falling Waters'. An long scenic route, the former construction road of the Malta-Reisseck Power Plant Group with numerous serpentines and six tunnels leads up to the dam at , site of a hotel and a hydropower exhibition. After the Austrian Anschluss to Nazi Germany, beginning in 1941 the Malta Valley was the site of a labour camp where deported prisoners of war originating from the Soviet Union were forced to work in a granite quarry supplying a Reichsautobahn construction site in nearby Spittal an der Drau (the present- day Tauern Autobahn). At least 21 inmates died from the inhuman working conditions; a memorial marks their burial place at a nearby chapel.

Traveling east from Safford, US 70/US 191 passes by the communities of Solomon and San Jose before US 191 turns northeast to split from US 70\. The route heads toward Three Way, passing through the Black Hills and entering Greenlee County. At Three Way, US 191 turns to the north, but the intersection is the northern terminus of SR 75, which heads toward Duncan, and the western terminus of SR 78, which heads into New Mexico toward Mule Creek. Heading north, US 191 is a divided highway for about until it arrives in Clifton, the start of the road's designation as the Coronado Trail Scenic Road (both an Arizona Scenic Route and a National Scenic Byway). This scenic road approximates the route taken by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado between 1540 and 1542.

The road makes one last left curve at Old Tomoka Avenue before approaching the grade crossing of the Florida East Coast Railroad main line, and then intersects with US 1 (North and South Yonge Street). The route continues, but the divider ends as SR 40 comes in close proximity to Ormond Beach City Hall on the southwest corner of Granada Boulevard and Beach Street(CR 4011). From there, SR 40 is overlapped by the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail, where the divider begins again on the Granada Bridge over the Halifax River, and immediately intersects John Anderson Drive(CR 2803), where one leg of the scenic route heads north and West Granada Boulevard becomes East Granda Boulevard, before finally terminating at State Road A1A. The other leg of the Ormond Beach Scenic Loop heads north on SR A1A.

SR 75 is eligible for the State Scenic Highway System. It is officially designated as a scenic route for nearly its entire length, from the Imperial Beach city limit to Avenida del Sol in Coronado, and the portion across the Coronado Bridge meaning that it is a substantial section of highway passing through a "memorable landscape" with no "visual intrusions", where the potential designation has gained popular favor with the community. SR 75 is also part of the National Highway System, a network of highways that are considered essential to the country's economy, defense, and mobility by the Federal Highway Administration. In 2013, SR 75 had an annual average daily traffic (AADT) of 66,000 on the Coronado Bridge (the highest AADT for the highway), and 16,000 between Rainbow Drive and 7th Street in Imperial Beach (the lowest AADT for the highway).

The first of which is County Road 48, and the next of which is the northern terminus of County Road 33 before running along the western shore of Lake Harris and eastern shore of Lake Denham, the location of Singletary Park. North of Lake Harris, it enters Leesburg where US 27 has an intersection with State Road 44. US 441 later joins US 27, and as a result, the hidden state routes are officially SR 25-500. SR 500 becomes more prominent however, because in Lady Lake, SR 25 branches away as County Road 25. This once served as the southern terminus of the US 27-441 Alternate Route around Lake Weir into Belleview, but still remains a scenic route. US 441 Around the Lake-Marion county border, US 27-441 enters a retirement community known as The Villages.

U.S. Route 40 Scenic (US 40 Scenic) is a scenic route of US 40 in the U.S. state of Maryland. US 40 Scenic, which is known for most of its route as National Pike, is the old alignment of US 40 over Town Hill in eastern Allegany County and Sideling Hill in far western Washington County. The highway was originally constructed as part of a turnpike connecting Baltimore with the eastern end of the National Road at Cumberland in the early 19th century. The highway was paved as a modern road in the mid-1910s and designated US 40 in the late 1920s. US 40 was relocated over Sideling Hill in the early 1950s and over Town Hill in the mid-1960s. The US 40 Scenic designation was first applied to the old highway over Town Hill in 1965.

Interstate 280 (I-280) is a north–south auxiliary Interstate Highway in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It runs from I-680 and US 101 in San Jose to King and Fifth Streets in San Francisco, running just to the west of the larger cities of San Francisco Peninsula for most of its route. From I-880 in San Jose to State Route 1 in Daly City, I-280 was built and dedicated as the Junipero Serra Freeway, after the Spanish Franciscan friar who founded the first nine of 21 Spanish missions in California from San Diego to San Francisco. One of the dedication signs (in Daly City) still indicates that the Junipero Serra Freeway is known as the "World's Most Beautiful Freeway" due to its scenic route through the San Francisco Peninsula.

While maintaining its alignment along Bank Street for its entire history, the road was re-aligned along Canal Drive (now today's Queen Elizabeth Driveway). From here, it became less clear where the northern terminus of the road was located, as Ottawa posted Highway 31 as a scenic route within its limits along Heron Road and Bronson Avenue (concurrent with Highway 16) before terminating in downtown, while the Ministry of Transportation noted no changes in road length (78 km / 48.8 mi). This is presumed to be a connecting link between Highway 31 and The Queensway (Highway 417), but these scenic routes/connecting links were all decommissioned by 1960. The road was also re-aligned along the Winchester Bypass, when it was completed and opened in 1974, but no other changes were made to the road since then, until being fully decommissioned as a provincial highway, in 1998.

I-495 joins I-270 Spur at a converging wye junction; Inner Loop traffic exits from itself at the southern terminus of I-270 Spur, while Outer Loop traffic crosses the spur and enters it from the right. The two carriageways of I-495 temporarily widen to five lanes each until the MD 190 and Cabin John Parkway interchanges. (MD 190 provides access to the northwestern portion of Washington, D.C., and to the Potomac and Great Falls, Maryland areas of Maryland's Montgomery County, while the Cabin John Parkway extends to the Clara Barton Parkway along the Potomac River.) After these interchanges, the Beltway then narrows to eight lanes again. Turning sharply to the west, I-495 meets the Clara Barton Parkway along the north side of the Potomac River; this parkway provides a scenic route eastward into the western part of Washington, and westward toward the Potomac River's Great Falls.

The Adelaide end of the South Eastern Freeway leads downhill to traffic lights at the intersection of Glen Osmond Road which continues northwest as route number A1 into the Adelaide city centre, Portrush Road which carries the National Highway designation (as A17) north to bypass the city and towards Port Adelaide, and Cross Road which leads west towards the southern suburbs of Adelaide. The southeastern end of the freeway, near Murray Bridge feeds onto the Swanport Bridge, a two-lane, bridge over the River Murray, where it joins the Princes Highway, a dual-carriageway highway to Tailem Bend. At this point, Highway 1 becomes a two-laned, two-way scenic route which passes through many coastal towns of South Australia and Victoria. The National Highway continues to Melbourne as the Dukes Highway (A8) from Tailem Bend to the Victorian border and beyond as the Western Highway.

US 27-441 leaves The Villages as it approaches County Road 42, a bi-county east-west scenic route through Central Florida. North of here, it serves as the eastern terminus of a newly constructed bypass to CR 484 in Summerfield. Within Belleview, the road encounters two somewhat important intersections; County Road 25A, and then State Road 35. SR 35 joins US 27-441 in a wrong-way concurrency with SR 500 as the road curves more to the west, until it reaches the intersection with US 301, where SR 35 turns south, and SR 500 becomes the hidden state road for US 27-301-441 for a few blocks. However SR 25 reunites with the triplex at the former eastern terminus of CR 484, and shares a concurrency with SR 25, and US 27-301-441's new secret route becomes SRs 25-500 once again.

Each car had 24 unreserved seats in the dome upstairs. The Northern Pacific placed at least one flat-topped car between each dome car to give passengers the best view. In 1959 the Northern Pacific added the slumbercoach, for economy sleeping accommodations, to the train. In 1967 the observation lounge cars were discontinued, but the sleeping car passengers could still enjoy lounge atmosphere in the dome sleepers, since below the dome two of the four single bedrooms were replaced with a buffet, and 24 lounge table seats were installed on the dome level, which allowed Northern Pacific to advertise the rebuilt dome sleepers as “Lounge in the Sky.” The scenic route went west across northern Illinois on the Burlington to the Mississippi River at Savanna, Illinois and then followed the Mississippi through La Crosse, Wisconsin, St. Paul, and Minneapolis as far as Little Falls, Minnesota.

A man standing in front of the ski train on February 12, 2006 Tabernash in 2003 The train was instituted by the railroad in 1940 and ran from Union Station in Denver, Colorado for to the ski resort town of Winter Park, Colorado. The train's scenic route left Union Station and traveled through northwest suburban Denver. At least during the early 1970s, the train made a stop in the Rocky Flats area east of the foothills before starting the mountain climb via a series of 29 tunnels - the "Tunnel District" - through the Plainview, Crescent, Wondervu and Gross Reservoir areas, then generally west along South Boulder Creek through Pinecliffe, Tolland and Rollinsville to the final mountain underpass, the long Moffat Tunnel under the Continental Divide. This is the highest railroad tunnel in the United States and the third longest, after the Cascade Tunnel in Washington state and the Flathead Tunnel in Montana.

Route 138 is a major highway in the Canadian province of Quebec, following the entire north shore of the Saint Lawrence River past Montreal to the temporary eastern terminus in Kegashka on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The western terminus is in Elgin, at the border with New York State south-west of Montreal (connecting with New York State Route 30 at the Trout River Border Crossing). Part of this highway is known as the Chemin du Roy, or King's Highway, which is one of the oldest highways in Canada. It passes through the Montérégie, Lanaudière, Mauricie, Capitale-Nationale and Côte-Nord regions of Quebec. In Montreal, Highway 138 runs via Sherbrooke Street, crosses the Pierre Le Gardeur Bridge to Charlemagne and remains a four-lane road until exiting Repentigny. This highway takes a more scenic route than the more direct Autoroute 40 between Montreal and Quebec City.

The MLAs disagreed, saying that Alberta's oil and gas revenue should be enough to expedite Highway 3 work, and that their constituents preferred for the work to be done sooner even if it meant longer stretches of the road would be under construction at a given time. The Crowsnest Highway ends at the Trans-Canada Highway northeast of the Medicine Hat Airport. A group of southern Albertans called the Crowsnest Highway 3 Association met annually in the 1970s with the intent of promoting the highway and advocating to the provincial government for improvements. The group included local officials and residents who advertised Highway 3 as a rival to the Trans-Canada Highway and a more scenic route between the prairies and the west coast. Their efforts proved worthwhile; to attract travellers who might better identify with a route that has only one name, Alberta officially renamed Highway 3 as "Crowsnest Highway 3" in 1977 with British Columbia following suit for their portion through to Hope.

Sudbury Star, August 18, 2004. The preferred plan, released in 2004, would construct a new route between the community of Montreal River Harbour and the Gartshore Generating Station. The municipal governments in the region, including Wawa and Chapleau, have proposed an alternate solution, whereby the Highway 17 route would be left where it is in recognition of its scenic importance as a tourism destination in the area, while instead the Sultan Industrial Road would be upgraded to full provincial highway standards, providing an additional connection to Ontario Highway 144 as an alternate route. The township of Wawa later proposed alternate models which would see the highway realignment take place while still taking into account the existing route's importance: in one of the new alternatives, the current route would remain in operation as an alternate scenic route, while in another, the newly realigned highway would operate only in the winter, while for most of the year traffic would continue to use the existing route.

Hillclimbs were held in Austria since about 1900 on courses in the Vienna Woods (Exelberg Race) and at Semmering Pass, as well as on the Gaisberg mountain road near Salzburg, a venue of the European Hill Climb Championship from 1929–30. When after five years of construction the Grossglockner High Alpine Road was opened in the year 1935 as a high-altitude scenic route crossing the main chain of the Alps between the Austrian states of Salzburg and Carinthia, the High Society of the Austrian motorsport gave a powerful demonstration of its presence, including Vice-Chancellor Ernst Rüdiger Starhemberg and chief engineer Franz Wallack. The first International Grossglockner Hillclimb took place on August 4, 1935, only one day after the official opening of the road. After the Austrian Anschluss to Nazi Germany, still two further races should follow in 1938 and 1939; they had been named according to the political development Großer Bergpreis von Deutschland (Hillclimb Grand Prix of Germany).

Mile zero in Key West US 1 travels along the east coast of Florida, beginning at 490 Whitehead St. in Key West and passing through Miami, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Jupiter, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, Cocoa, Titusville, Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville. The southernmost piece through the chain islands of the Florida Keys, about long, is the two-lane Overseas Highway, originally built in the late 1930s after railroad tycoon Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway's Overseas Railroad, which was built 1905-1912 on stone pillars was ruined by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. The rest of US 1 in Florida is generally a four-lane divided highway, despite the existence of the newer I-95 not far away. Famous vacation scenic route Florida State Road A1A is a continuous oceanfront alternate to US 1 that runs along the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, cut only by assorted unbridged inlets and the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral.

As well as a skilled pianist, Brown has branched out to embrace other instruments in her performances, notably electric guitar and bass. She credits this and working with her backing band as helping her to develop and refine her songwriting abilities. Brown has toured extensively across Canada in support of her releases, sharing stages with some big names like Frank Black, Jakob Dylan, Don McLean and Randy Newman - after whom she named a track on the album Direction. Other releases include Colleen Brown's DIRT (2012), Direction 1: Major Love EP (2014) - for which she created elaborate home-demo recordings, Direction (2015) - which includes her first home-recorded release 'I Asked In The Night', and 2016's Seasons Are Circling which features a slew of collaborations and some home recordings with Canadian artists Jesse Northey, Mitchmatic, Be-bop Cortez, Slow Leaves aka Grant Davidson, Ido Vanderlaan, Scenic Route To Alaska, and David Celia.

In 1947, a group of delegates from several towns along US 80 in the western United States had a meeting at the Pioneer Hotel in Tucson, Arizona, to discuss the future of US 80. Travel on the western segment of the highway had decreased dramatically since the end of the second World War. The delegates decided to form a new U.S. Highway 80 Association to promote the highway. Up until that point, the states of California, Arizona and New Mexico had promoted US 80 as the western extension of the Broadway of America, a transcontinental tourist highway ending in New York. The goal of the new association was to abandon the Broadway of America altogether and focus instead on promoting the entirety of US 80 between Savannah and San Diego as an all year scenic route. A secondary goal of the association was to make US 80 a formidable competitor to the famous US 66.

Interstate 280 near Stanford University Interstate 280 aerial view from southwest of the US 101/I-680 interchange The southern end of Interstate 280 is U.S. 101 in San Jose, where it acts as a continuation of Interstate 680 westward. In between San Jose and San Francisco, Interstate 280 passes through Santa Clara, Cupertino, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills before it settles along its scenic route just to the west of the cities of the San Francisco Peninsula in San Mateo County and just to the east of the Santa Cruz Mountains. I-280 re-emerges in a decidedly urbanized area in the city of San Bruno, passing through South San Francisco and Daly City before it runs across a southeastern swath of the city of San Francisco on the way to its northern terminus. The segment of the Junipero Serra Freeway between Cupertino (SR 85) and Daly City (SR 1) has been called the "World's Most Beautiful Freeway" since its dedication in the 1960s.

The Gemarkung of Gossberg lies on the north of the municipality of Wüschheim and to the southwest of the border between municipalities of both Bell (southeast of Hundheim) and Hasselbach. Wüschheim is an Ortsgemeinde (a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde — a municipality in the district of Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis) that is a part of the Verbandsgemeinde Simmern-Rheinböllen in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The Gossberg hill, being a part of the low mountain range of the central Hunsrück, is located 3km to the east from “Hunsrück Heights Road” ( — a scenic route through the Hunsrück, initially used as a strategic military road built on the orders of Hermann Göring), officially known as the federal highway B327 connecting Kappel (6km to the southwest of Gossberg), Kastellaun (6km to the north of Gossberg), and Koblenz. South of Gossberg, there is the Landesstraße L226, which connects Wüschheim with Simmern (8km to the southeast of Gossberg) and B327.

During the late-1950s, the Saint Lawrence Seaway project created a navigable lock system between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Superior, while simultaneously reclaiming properties along the shoreline to create a continuous parkway. Seeing the potential tourist draw, several groups and organizations, including the district Chamber of Commerce, convened at the second annual conference of the Southwestern Ontario Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade in February 1960. Several resolutions were passed, calling for the DHO to create a new Highway 40 several kilometres inland from the St. Clair River and to have the old highway rebuilt as a scenic route. These resolutions were echoed by Lambton County Council and the 21 municipalities in the county. Plans for the parkway were crafted over the next several years before being presented to minister of highways Charles MacNaughton in the spring of 1965. Subsequently, the St. Clair Parkway Commission was formed in 1966. Construction of the new inland route of Highway 40 began in 1972. Working south from Sarnia, the first contract reached as far south as Highway 80, a distance of .

Immediately after crossing into Fairfax County, Virginia, I-495 encounters the western terminus of the George Washington Memorial Parkway at a trumpet interchange; the Parkway provides a scenic route to Arlington, Virginia, and downtown Washington. The Beltway then continues south, next interchanging with VA 193 south of Dranesville District Park, then reaches the extensive triangle of interchanges between I-495, the Dulles Airport Access Road, VA 267, and VA 123. The eastbound Dulles Access Road here also provides access to I-66 for Outer Loop Beltway traffic. The former interchange with the toll road (VA 267) is a directional interchange, while the latter is a cloverleaf; the entire complex occurs east of the Tysons Corner business district. Now running south, the Beltway interchanges with VA 7 (Leesburg Pike) east of Tysons Corner; passing Dunn Loring to the east, I-495 soon reaches the complex interchange with Interstate 66, which extends westward to I-81 in the Shenandoah Valley near Strasburg, Virginia, and eastward to Arlington and downtown Washington.

Because of the frequent use of street-legal golf cars in the community, bridges and tunnels for these carts can be found throughout the road. From the 1960s to the end of the 1980s, it has been superseded by the completion of the A4 motorway which runs from Delta in Brussels down past Arlon where shortly after it enters Luxembourg where it becomes part of the Luxembourg by-pass system until it reaches the south of the city where it turns south continuing down to Thionville and Metz in France and onwards. By diverting the traffic away from the N4 the motorway has caused the closure of most of these traditional Belgian friteries. Outside of major towns the N4 mostly consists of dual carriageway with the opposing lanes separated by a central reservation or concrete blocks, but certain sections are still without any form of physical separation and have been the scene of many fatal accidents. The N4 still offers a more pleasurable and scenic route to the south of Belgium for the less pressed driver and the end sections remain busy routes during the rush hour due to the high number of commuters travelling to and from Brussels and Luxembourg from residential communities all over the area.

U.S. National Park Service map of Mulholland Highway and Santa Monica Mountains Mulholland Highway is a scenic road in Los Angeles County, California, that runs approximately 50 miles through the western Santa Monica Mountains from near US Route 101 (Ventura Freeway) in Calabasas to Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) near Malibu at Leo Carrillo State Park and the Pacific Ocean coast – at the border of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Mulholland Highway is the western rural portion and with the eastern Mulholland Drive portion, is a scenic route named after Los Angeles civil engineer William Mulholland and built throughout the 1920s "to take Angelenos from the city to the ocean". Only the segment of Mulholland Highway between Pacific Coast Highway and Kanan Dume Road, and through Malibu Creek State Park between Cornell Road and Las Virgenes Road, is officially recognized by the California Department of Transportation as under the California Scenic Highway System, meaning that it is a substantial section of highway passing through a "memorable landscape" with no "visual intrusions", where the potential designation has gained popular favor with the community.

The Michigan Heritage Route System was created after Public Act 69 of 1993 was signed into law on June 22, 1993, going into effect immediately. The law required MDOT to set up specific criteria and procedures related to selecting and maintaining heritage routes, subject to approval of the Legislature. Since the program was put into operation in 1993, 16 heritage routes have been approved by the department. The first two were approved in 1995 at opposite ends of the state: a scenic route along US Highway 41 (US 41) in the Keweenaw Peninsula region of the northern UP and a historic route along M-125 in downtown Monroe in the southeastern corner of the LP. The first recreational route was approved in 1998 along M-15 in the southeastern LP. Since 2008, local groups have proposed the creation of a heritage route along the former West Michigan Pike (US 31) on the western side of the LP and a loop around Ontonagon County in the western UP. In a department report dated December 22, 2014, the UP byway was no longer under active proposal, and the West Michigan Pike was dedicated on July 25, 2016.
