Sapience is closely related to the term "sophia" often defined as "transcendent wisdom", "ultimate reality", or the ultimate truth of things. Sapiential perspective of wisdom is said to lie in the heart of every religion, where it is often acquired through intuitive knowing. This type of wisdom is described as going beyond mere practical wisdom and includes self-knowledge, interconnectedness, conditioned origination of mind-states and other deeper understandings of subjective experience. This type of wisdom can also lead to the ability of an individual to act with appropriate judgement, a broad understanding of situations and greater appreciation/compassion towards other living beings.

The album includes Monroig's commentary on several matters including his relationship with his father and parts of his life. The music was composed by Franky Suárez and was performed by more than fifty musicians. The words "mind" and "consciousness" are used by different communities in different ways. Some new age thinkers, for example, use the word "consciousness" to describe something similar to Bergson's "élan vital": an invisible, energetic fluid that permeates life and especially the mind. Shredder terrorized Japan until he was defeated by the Hamato Clan, due to Karai using a mystic blade to send Shredder into a dimension called the Twilight Realm, and the Kuroi Yōroi was scattered across the world to prevent his return. The side effect of Shredder's defeat had sent Karai into the Twilight Realm, along with Shredder's sapience being sealed away. The Foot, allied with Baron Draxum, began collecting the armor pieces to resurrect him starting in "Shadow of Evil." In "Warren and Hypno, Sitting in a Tree", Draxum claimed the gauntlet in Warren Stone's possession that turned out to be part of the Kuroi Yōroi.

After obtaining the fragment, Draxum declared himself to be the Foot's leader, via exploiting a loophole in the clan's rulings of leadership. However, Draxum was completely oblivious to the fact that the Foot were just manipulating him into reviving their true leader, as they needed a being of great mystic power to energize the armor in order to resurrect Shredder (they were unaware that Shredder wouldn't regain his sapience upon resurrection). In "One Man's Junk", the next piece of the Kuroi Yōroi was in the possession of Repo Mantis, who claimed it from a Yōkai and held in his salvage yard. After trapping the cat/mantis mutant, Mrs.

Furthermore, due to a flaw in the armor (the Turtles' Jupiter Jim action figure was shoved in to cover a hole when the faceplate was used as a tea kettle), it wasn't properly able to drain Draxum's power. After Draxum was defeated and spat out of the armor, due to April knocking a baseball against the action figure, it reassembled itself, having drained Draxum of his life force. In "Many Happy Returns", Shredder acted like a feral beast, due to his sapience still being sealed in the Twilight Realm. After being attacked by the demon, the Foot Lieutenant, Foot Brute, and Foot Recruit retreated to find out what went wrong.

On her final start of the season Roseate Tern was matched against colts in the St Leger Stakes and started the 5/2 second favourite behind the Henry Cecil-trained Michelozzo. The St Leger meeting at Doncaster was abandoned owing to the poor state of the course and the race was run a week later at Ayr Racecourse. After being held up by Carson in the early stages the filly made steady progress without looking likely to win and finished third behind Michelozzo and Sapience, with Terimon in fourth place. At the end of the year, the filly was bought privately by the American businessman Peter Brant and moved to the stable of Luca Cumani at Newmarket.

Atsuko 'Nuku Nuku' Natsume Voiced by: Megumi Hayashibara (Japanese), Allison Keith (English) The de facto protagonist and title character. Nuku Nuku started out as just a stray cat Ryunosuke stumbled upon taking a leak while on the run with his father Kyusaku after retrieving (stealing) a prototype android of Kyusaku's own design to keep it from being sold off to the military by Ryu's mother Akiko. The stray cat was shot in the crossfire short by Akiko's henchwomen quickly after Ryu was allowed to keep the cat as a Christmas present. In a moment of brilliance Kyusaku put the dying cat's brain into the android, giving the feline sapience and the android emotions.

In the course of the following scenes the audience sees how the three so called Vices (Discretion, Devotion and Sapience) try to get rid of everything and everyone who could be dangerous to them. For instance Lady Chastitie, who is homeless since the church in Scotland is not as it was meant to be, begs for shelter from Spiritualitie, Temporalitie and finally the People but is rejected in each case. In the end when Lady Chastitie is sent to prison by the Vices, Divine Correction enters the stage. This is the moment when the vices know that their time has come to an end and they flee and take away the king’s treasure box.

Assessor began his third season in April 1993 when he finished fourth to Linpac West in the John Porter Stakes Newbury and second to Roll A Dollar when favourite for the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot. On 13 May at York the colt was ridden by Quinn in the Yorkshire Cup over fourteen furlongs and started at odds of 9/1 in an eight-runner field. The Premio Roma winner Spring started favourite while the other runners included Mashaallah, Sapience (Princess of Wales's Stakes), Roll A Dollar and Shambo (Geoffrey Freer Stakes). Assessor raced close to the leaders from the start, took the lead approaching the final furlong and won by a length from Allegan.

Most of humanity believes itself to be a "wolfling" species that emerged into sapience solely through natural evolution, without genetic manipulation by a patron species. This belief is considered heresy and ridiculous by most of the galactic civilization and has made most of the galactic powers enemies of EarthClan. The fact that humanity had already uplifted two species (chimpanzees and bottlenose dolphins) when it encountered the galactic civilization gave humanity patron status, which is one of the few lucky turns it has had in its difficult position as pariah in the galactic civilization. This saved humanity from the likely fate of becoming client to another race through forced adoption or being punitively exterminated for the environmental damage done to the Earth and its native species.

Meanwhile, aided by Jasoft Parz's internal sabotage, Poole succeeds in ramming the Hermit Crab into the second Spline, killing the sapience of the vessel and the entangled Qax, second Governor of Earth, with it. Harry takes over in lieu of the higher intelligence and, at the direction of Poole, steers it back into the wormhole: when inside, Poole intends to activate the hyperdrive, shattering the fragile dimensional warping of the wormhole, and of all wormholes connecting to it, thus saving humanity from further interference by the future. Poole's audacious plan succeeds, but with an unexpected side effect. As the hyperdrive activates, it somewhat shatters space-time, forming a long series of interconnected wormholes that hurl Poole 5 million years forward into the far future.

The aim of TRACSYMBOLS project is to examine how key behavioural innovations emerged among Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis in southern Africa and Europe respectively, and to explore whether and how environmental variability influenced this development between 180,000 – 25,000 years ago, primarily by combining archaeological results, original multi‐proxy palaeoenvironmental data and climatic simulations for two continents. From 2017 the cave site continues to be excavated by many of the same researchers under the newly funded Centre for Early Sapiens Behaviour(SapienCE) at the University of Bergen, Norway. The Centre is formed in cooperation with Witwatersrand University, Royal Holloway University of London, Université de Bordeaux, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and UNI research, Bergen, Norway. The aim is to follow an even broader multi-disciplinary approach, and the 10-year programme include cognitive studies, neuroscience, geoscience, climate modelling and reconstruction, fauna etc.

In 2014 Jansen received an ERC Synergy Grant (ice2ice) to work with three other principal investigators on abrupt climate change Jansen initiated and headed the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research as Director from its founding in 2000 to 2013. The Centre was awarded status as Norwegian Centre of Excellence by the Norwegian Research Council in 2002. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council, he is the Academic Director of the Academia Europaea Bergen Knowledge Hub, and heads the Geoscience group of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. Jansen is also co-director of the SapienCE Centre which is a Norwegian Centre of Excellence awarded by the Norwegian Research Council in 2017, and hosted by the University of Bergen, integrating archaeology, climate science and cognitive and neurosciences in studies of the emergence of modern behaviour in Homo sapiens in Southern Africa 120.000-50.000 years ago.

Belmez returned with a third place to the filly Salsabil in the Irish Derby (with Quest For Fame fifth) and was then aimed at the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Steve Cauthen, who had ridden Belmez in his previous four races chose to partner Old Vic, with the ride on Belmez going to Mick Kinane. Such was the quality of the entry, that Belmez was the only three-year-old in the field, but he produced a career-best effort, moving up to contest the lead early in the straight and prevailing by a neck from his stablemate Old Vic, with top-class performers like Assatis, Cacoethes, In The Wings, Sapience, Terimon and Legal Case among the also-rans. A month later Belmez won the Great Voltigeur Stakes, getting up on the line to beat the future St Leger winner Snurge by a short-head.

Holloway eventually comes to agree with her contrary to his financial interests when he sees a fuzzy instructing his dog to do tricks and then deliberately taunting a malevolent Zaracorp guard when the company's executives come to try to persuade him to testify against Isabel, and then he realizes independently that the fuzzies are in fact speaking English that they've learned from a literacy program on a tablet lost by a surveyor who crashed in the jungle years earlier, only at too high a pitch for humans to hear. In the court proceedings that ensue, Holloway reveals the fuzzies' speech and behavior to persuade the Colonial Authority judge to recognize their sapience and also embarrasses the corporation by persuading his line manager to testify that Holloway's contract was never reactivated after the rider was approved, giving him outright control of the seam he found. Zaracorp loses its exploration and extraction license for trying to deceive the judge and Holloway, Isabel, the line manager, and other helpers become the human guardians of the fuzzies.

While it has been traditionally assumed that sentience and sapience are, in principle, independent of each other, there are criticisms of that assumption. One such criticism is about recognition paradoxes, one example of which is that an entity that cannot distinguish a spider from a non-spider cannot be arachnophobic. More generally, it is argued that since it is not possible to attach an emotional response to stimuli that cannot be recognized, emotions cannot exist independently of cognition that can recognize. The claim that precise recognition exists as specific attention to some details in a modular mind is criticized both with regard to data loss as a small system of disambiguating synapses in a module physically cannot make as precise distinctions as a bigger synaptic system encompassing the whole brain, and for energy loss as having one system for motivation that needs some built-in cognition to recognize anything anyway and another cognitive system for making strategies would cost more energy than integrating it all in one system that use the same synapses.
