Władysław Findysz (13 December 1907 - 21 August 1964) was a Polish Roman Catholic priest. He was imprisoned under the Communist regime in 1963 until not too long before his death on the charges of sending religious newsletters to his parishioners. He was beatified under Pope Benedict XVI on 19 June 2005 though the pontiff delegated that Cardinal Józef Glemp preside on his behalf in Warsaw.

In early 1892, Professor Henry Senger, a philologist at the University of California, Berkeley, contacted Muir with the idea of forming a local 'alpine club' for mountain lovers. Senger and San Francisco attorney Warren Olney sent out invitations "for the purpose of forming a 'Sierra Club.' Mr. John Muir will preside." On May 28, 1892, the first meeting of the Sierra Club was held to write articles of incorporation.

On the fall of Mexican Emperor Agustín de Iturbide in 1823, Central America declared its independence. Delgado was elected one of the representatives to the constituent congress of the Federal Republic of Central America. This Congress met in Guatemala beginning on June 24, 1823, and Delgado was chosen to preside. On May 5, 1824 he was named the first bishop of San Salvador by the local civil authorities and not by the Catholic Church.

María del Carmen González-Ramos García-Prieto de Muñoz (30 June 1834 – 9 November 1899) – in religion María del Carmen of the Child Jesus – was a Spanish Roman Catholic professed religious and the founder of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts. She married in mjd-1857 – against her parents' advice – to a brash and dissolute husband and secured his repentance not too long before his death. The religious was beatified in mid-2007 under Pope Benedict XVI though the pontiff delegated Cardinal José Saraiva Martins to preside on his behalf.

In May 1842, Governor William Hobson appointed Halswell as one of his deputies. As a judge, he appears to have had the trust of Māori, over whom he sometimes had to preside. On 24 April 1845, Halswell attended a farewell function for James Sea, who was to go to New South Wales to become the first manager of the Sydney branch of the Union Bank of Australia. Halswell's own departure for England was toasted at that function, and both Sea and Halswell left two days later on the Comet for Sydney via Nelson.

The post of Chief Justice of the Arizona Territorial Supreme Court was filled in March 1884 by Sumner Howard, an appointee of President Chester A. Arthur. With the election of President Grover Cleveland, Howard sensed he was about to be removed and resigned in October 1885 to ease the appointment of Shields to the Arizona bench. On October 23, 1885, President Cleveland appointed Shields as Chief Justice of the Arizona Territorial Supreme Court. One of the most intellectual men to preside on the territorial bench, Shields took his oath of office on November 9, 1885 in Prescott, Arizona Territory.

In a few instances, the term chancellor applies to a student or faculty member in a high school or an institution of higher learning who is either appointed or elected as chancellor to preside on the highest ranking judicial board or tribunal.
