The open Möbius band is homeomorphic to the once-punctured projective plane, that is, P2 with any one point removed. This may be thought of as the closest that a Möbius band of constant positive curvature can get to being a complete surface: just one point away. The group of isometries of this Möbius band is also 1-dimensional and isomorphic to the orthogonal group O(2). The space of unoriented lines in the plane is diffeomorphic to the open Möbius band.

After release, the game only obtained an 84 aggregate score from Metacritic, one point away, and Bethesda refused to pay them. Video game reviewers are aware of their impact on the Metacritic score and subsequent effect on bonus payment schemes. Eurogamer, prior 2014, were aware that they generally graded games on a scoring scale lower than other websites, and would pull down the overall Metacritic score. For this reason, the site dropped review scores in 2014, and their scores are no longer included in these aggregate scores.

Both series went 8 games, and the Marlboros were a point away from being eliminated each time but stayed alive.

Sproat's Landing also became the headquarters for the Gold Commissioner, Sam Green, probably buying out R.E. Lemon. In 1890, the CPR began construction of a rail link, the first in the Kootenays, to Nelson to replace the trail railway built by L. Macquarrie in 1888. They decided to relocate their transfer point away from the marsh land at the mouth of Pass Creek. Viewed in another light, an anonymous source states they did so because of "exorbitant land grabbing by the occupants of the Sproat site".
But just ten minutes after the restart, Mallorca were level again and took a point away from Riazor (2-2). The Galicians had only been able to win four out of eleven matches in Riazor, and again their game was unconvincing. What might have decided the rest of the season was the major knee injury playmaker Valerón suffered near the end of this match. He would be out for the rest of the season 2005/2006 and this eliminated even more creative qualities of the team.
The Jacoby rule is widely used in money play but is not used in match play. The "Crawford rule", named after John R. Crawford, is designed to make match play more equitable for the player in the lead. If a player is one point away from winning a match, that player's opponent will always want to double as early as possible in order to catch up. Whether the game is worth one point or two, the trailing player must win to continue the match.

The last phase of the Western Rail Corridor is the suggested construction of a railway connecting Sligo, Ballyshannon, Bundoran, Donegal, Letterkenny, Strabane and Derry where it will connect with the Belfast-Derry railway line. This proposal however is not included in the TEN-T European Transport policy. However, a study on future rail lines commissioned by Iarnród Éireann by consultants AECOM in 2011 found that an extension of the Belfast-Derry railway line to Letterkenny was one point away from being regarded as a viable prospect.
The virus appears to have specificity for renal tissues within the species Rana pipiens. It is possible that this is because the glycoproteins embedded within the viral envelope attach to and are selective to the membrane proteins found on their renal tissues. Once tumors have grown though, the tumors can metastasize to other areas of the body. This begs the question of if the virus has some way of spreading to the rest of the body, although a lack evidence seems to point away from this conclusion.
Barakaldo played the 1918–19 season in the Category C of the Regional Championship and became the champion without losing a single game throughout the season, promoted to category B. Despite scoring just one away goal all season and not earning a single point away from home, GOŠK maintained their third division status. HNL each year, forcing very young players into the first team to save on wages and because the club lacked the facilities to be granted a second division licence. In the 2012–13 season, GOŠK did very will in the Croatian Cup reaching the quarter-finals where they lost to Lokomotiva Zagreb.

Detonation velocity can be measured by the Dautriche method. In essence, this method relies on the time lag between the initiation of two ends of a detonating fuse of a known detonation velocity, inserted radially at two points into the explosive charge at a known distance apart. When the explosive charge is detonated, it triggers one end of the fuse, then the second end. This causes two detonation fronts travelling in opposite direction along the length of the detonating fuse, which meet at a specific point away from the centre of the fuse.
Kobayashi defeated Yasumitsu Satō to win the 11th in 1992. The victory stopped Satō from winning the tournament three years in a row. The hyphae lack clamp connections, and the hyphal structure is monomitic, meaning that only generative hyphae are present. In the stem, the 1–2 μm-wide hyphae run parallel to one another, but are less regular towards the base. The hairs on the stem are straight and point away from the substrate, emerging from the stems at oblique angles. They are 150 to 250 μm in length; at the base, they are 1.5 to 2.5 μm in width, while at the rounded to club-shaped tips, they are 3 to 4.5 μm in width.
Women with dysmenorrhea were encouraged to marry and have children at a young age. The fact that Hippocratics were recommending changes in marriage practices due to an endometriosis-like illness implies that this disease was likely common, with rates higher than the 5-15% prevalence that is often cited today. If indeed this disorder was so common historically, this may point away from modern theories that suggest links between endometriosis and dioxins, PCBs, and chemicals. The early treatment of endometriosis was surgical and included oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries) and hysterectomy (removal of the uterus).
In graph theory, an arborescence is a directed graph in which, for a vertex u called the root and any other vertex v, there is exactly one directed path from u to v. An arborescence is thus the directed-graph form of a rooted tree, understood here as an undirected graph. Equivalently, an arborescence is a directed, rooted tree in which all edges point away from the root; a number of other equivalent characterizations exist. Every arborescence is a directed acyclic graph (DAG), but not every DAG is an arborescence.
The series began at Hockenheim on 30 April, and finished on 20 November at the Guia Circuit after five meetings. Roberto Merhi was crowned champion after Masters of F3 meeting at Zandvoort. One of the most pervasive, is the distinction between "public sphere" and "private sphere". The society as a whole respects privacy in what are considered private sphere events, such as intimacy, closeness, interpersonal relationships and even identity in business and governmental transactions. As there is a great deal of information in the society, this becomes rather critical in moving the society toward a point away from information fetishism and toward a society where persons have respect for one another's privacy and work as a society for the betterment of all.
One stormy night, while visiting his vacation house Three Point away from the city, Clive finds it occupied by a vagabond named Barrow, and a glamorous lady by name Eve Marlow. Clive beats and drives a weeping Barrow out of the house into the storm, throwing at him 110 USD which Barrow had paid to Eve. Clive then proceeds to touch Eve but she hits him cold and vanishes.
Around 1958, a gravel road was constructed from US 61 near Port Gibson to a point away from the western terminus, and it was designated as MS 462. By 1960, the route was connected to MS 461 via a gravel county road that crossed Big Black River. The state- maintained section of MS 462 was also paved around this time. Three years later, MS 461 was decommissioned, and the eastern terminus of MS 462 was rerouted to a state-maintained gravel road near the then-proposed Natchez Trace Parkway.
The league was decided by goals for only the fourth time, and for the first time neither of the top two teams came from Auckland. Wellington Diamond United's efficient, if unspectacular, style of play won the day. The team which took them all the way in the title chase was unexpectedly Dunedin City, with the best performance ever recorded by a side from the deep south. Dunedin City were one point away from achieving the league and cup double, having won the 1981 Chatham Cup earlier in the season.
Needham p422 By 635 Chinese astronomers had observed that the tails of comets always point away from the sun. From antiquity, the Chinese used an equatorial system for describing the skies and a star map from 940 was drawn using a cylindrical (Mercator) projection. The use of an armillary sphere is recorded from the 4th century BC and a sphere permanently mounted in equatorial axis from 52 BC. In 125 AD Zhang Heng used water power to rotate the sphere in real time. This included rings for the meridian and ecliptic.

The track-makers are estimated to have been about tall and to have been travelling at a speed of per second. Based on the age of the tracks, they have been tentatively ascribed to the hominid Homo heidelbergensis, a probable ancestor of the Neanderthals. As the tracks point away from the volcano's crater, it is possible that they were made while the track-makers were trying to escape an eruption. There was certainly an eruption following the track- makers' passage, as the tracks were buried under a subsequently erupted layer of volcanic ash which preserved them to the present day.
Costa was given a three-match suspension, while Gabriel had his three-match suspension withdrawn after a "wrongful dismissal claim" from Arsenal and he was available for their next match. Bach expresses the unity of the whole work within the music itself, in part through his use of key signatures. Parts I and III are written in the keys of D major, part II in its subdominant key G major. Parts I and III are similarly scored for exuberant trumpets, while the Pastoral Part II (referring to the Shepherds) is, by contrast, scored for woodwind instruments and does not include an opening chorus. Part IV is written in F major (the relative key to D minor) and marks the furthest musical point away from the oratorio's opening key, scored for horns.
Like Jupiter's magnetic field, Saturn's is created by a fluid dynamo within a layer of circulating liquid metallic hydrogen in its outer core. Like Earth, Saturn's magnetic field is mostly a dipole, with north and south poles at the ends of a single magnetic axis. On Saturn, like on Jupiter, the north magnetic pole is located in the northern hemisphere, and the south magnetic pole lies in the southern hemisphere, so that magnetic field lines point away from the north pole and towards the south pole. This is reversed compared to the Earth, where the north magnetic pole lies in the southern hemisphere.
The MPPT must then shift the PV panel operating point away from the peak power point until production exactly matches demand. (An alternative approach commonly used in spacecraft is to divert surplus PV power into a resistive load, allowing the panel to operate continuously at its peak power point in order to keep the panel cooler as much as possible.) In a grid-connected photovoltaic system, all delivered power from solar modules will be sent to the grid. Therefore, the MPPT in a grid connected PV system will always attempt to operate the PV modules at its maximum power point.
In 1995, after the "svolta di Fiuggi"—when the Italian Social Movement made a turning point away from fascist symbolism to become a bona fide and legal force in politics—and the definitive transformation of the party into the National Alliance, Pisanò decided to associate with Pino Rauti in the conservation project of the historic Italian Right Party, which would have given rise to the Tricolour Flame. A few months later, however, he left his political life, due to his deteriorating health. Giorgio Pisanò died in Milan on October 17, 1997, after a long illness. He was suffering from kidney cancer.
This appointment delivered immediate success to Lokomotiv as after a really poor start, Lokomotiv recovered and finished the season on a high, claiming fourth place in the process. Before the 2011–12 league season, Semin left the club and was replaced by former Spartak Nalchuk manager Yuri Krasnozhan. On 4 June 2011, rumours spread that Lokomotiv chairman Olga Smorodskaya suspected Krasnozhan of throwing away the 27 May, 1–2 home league defeat to Anzhi Makhachkala, deciding to sack him on the grounds of the suspicion. Lokomotiv was fifth in the table at the time, just one point away from first-placed CSKA.

In areas observing Commonwealth of Nations or United States doctrine, chevrons are used as an insignia of enlisted or NCO rank by military forces and by police. One chevron usually designates a private or lance corporal, two a corporal, and three a sergeant. One to four "rockers" may also be incorporated to indicate various grades of sergeant. In the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, chevrons typically point towards the neck (though prior to the 20th Century this was not true); in the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard, and in Commonwealth usage, they usually point away from the neck.
Part III, in relation to Parts I, II and IV, is "a litany of affirmation of the Lamb in its glory", according to Ginsberg. It is directly addressed to Carl Solomon, whom Ginsberg met during a brief stay at a psychiatric hospital in 1949; called "Rockland" in the poem, it was actually Columbia Presbyterian Psychological Institute. This section is notable for its refrain, "I'm with you in Rockland", and represents something of a turning point away from the grim tone of the "Moloch"-section. Of the structure, Ginsberg says Part III is "pyramidal, with a graduated longer response to the fixed base".
The CN Tower, located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, The 1970s represented a turning point away from the International Style and Modernist planning. Brutalist architecture had been seen in Canada prior to the decade, but became more dominant in the 1970s with the backlash against the International Style. The style emphasized the reflection of the functional components of the interior in the exterior, along with geometric and sculptural uses of concrete on the interior and exterior of the building. It was a style used focally for institutional buildings for government, academic, and cultural uses, but also for high-rise residential and commercial buildings.
At the Battle of Grand Gulf on April 29, 1863, the battery was stationed at a point away from Fort Wade on the Big Black River. At the Battle of Champion Hill on May 16, the battery was in the brigade of Brigadier General Martin E. Green. After fighting at Champion Hill, the battery lost its cannons at the Battle of Big Black River Bridge on May 17; after which it entered the defenses of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The battery was present during the Siege of Vicksburg and was captured when the Confederate garrison surrendered on July 4.
David Riley "discussed a transfer", but remained at the club despite being unhappy at starting the season from the bench. A weak defensive performance then cost them at home to Chester City, though Rudge was happy with the performance of Simon Mills, a midfielder who was learning a new position at right-back. A disciplined performance was enough to win a point away at Bury, with goalkeeper Mark Grew in impressive form. With Atkinson injured and Steve Harper out of form, Rudge tried unsuccessfully to bring in Liverpool's Steve Staunton and Bournemouth's Mark O'Connor on loan.
Other differences between the principal and secondary eyes are that the latter have rhabdomeres that point away from incoming light, just like in vertebrates, while the arrangement is the opposite in the former. The principal eyes are also the only ones with eye muscles, allowing them to move the retina. Having no muscles, the secondary eyes are immobile. Some jumping spiders' visual acuity exceeds by a factor of ten that of dragonflies, which have by far the best vision among insects; in fact the human eye is only about five times sharper than a jumping spider's.
A solar eclipse has been a recurring image in the series itself, and is also used as the series' logo (a photograph of the "Baily's beads" phenomenon). A terrestrial eclipse (an eclipse in which the Earth covers the Sun, as viewed from an observation point away from the Earth) is used in the series' title sequence. Tim Kring stated that the eclipse should be regarded as a global event which parallels the concept of connectivity which runs through the series. Teaser commercial clips by NBC aired after "Villains" declare that an eclipse was the cause of superhuman abilities, and that it was about to happen again with an unknown effect.
Defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on 5 April sent Luton back to the bottom of the league and increased the gap to five points with only eight left to gain from Luton's final four matches. Luton managed a 2-1 home win over Everton, before beating Leicester 3-0 to be only one point away. A 4-1 victory at Birmingham put Luton level on points with Tottenham, with the North London team ahead on goal average. Manchester City would visit Luton on 26 April for their final match, while Tottenham would have to travel to Highbury to face their rivals Arsenal before entertaining Leeds United two days later.
The 1901–02 Football League season was Small Heath Football Club's tenth in the Football League and their third in the First Division, having been promoted as runners-up in the Second Division in 1900–01. They finished in 17th place in the 18-team league, one point away from safety, so were relegated back to the Second Division. They also took part in the 1901–02 FA Cup, entering at the intermediate round (between qualifying rounds and rounds proper) and losing in that round to Portsmouth. In locally organised competition, they lost to Aston Villa in the first round of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
In 1949, at the University of Texas, Tompkins was the back-up quarterback to Paul Campbell and averaged only four minutes of play per game. But the next year, Tompkins beat out T Jones and Dan Page to become the team's starting quarterback. The season was the last for coach Blair Cherry and Texas came one point away from making it a National Championship one. An undefeated regular season was prevented only by a 14-13 loss to eventual National Champion, and then #3 Oklahoma; a game that turned on a controversial goal line stand, missed extra point and a dropped snap on a punt late in the game.
Two goals in quick succession from Brian Howard and Martin Devaney look like giving Barnsley a 2 – 0 lead going into half time but two headers from Watford defender Danny Shittu made things all square going into the break. In the second half, Barnsley won win after Richard Lee's blunder from Brian Howard cross. Match Eighteen – Sheffield Wednesday 1–0 Barnsley The South Yorkshire derby was settled on the hour mark by a header from Akpo Sodje. Barnsley fail again to win at Hillsborough. Match Nineteen – Ipswich Town 0–0 Barnsley Barnsley claimed an unexpected point away at Portman Road, becoming the first team this season to leave Ipswich with anything.
The magnetic field lines point away from Jupiter above the sheet and towards Jupiter below it. The load of plasma from Io greatly expands the size of the Jovian magnetosphere, because the magnetodisk creates an additional internal pressure which balances the pressure of the solar wind. In the absence of Io the distance from the planet to the magnetopause at the subsolar point would be no more than 42 RJ, whereas it is actually 75 RJ on average. The configuration of the magnetodisk's field is maintained by the azimuthal ring current (not an analog of Earth's ring current), which flows with rotation through the equatorial plasma sheet.
There is a strong pressure gradient across the isobars toward the center of the cyclone. This pressure gradient provides the centripetal force necessary for the circular motion of each parcel of air. This strong gradient, coupled with the slower speed of the air near the Earth's surface, causes a secondary flow at surface level toward the center of the cyclone, rather than a wholly circular flow. Even though the wind speed near the center of a tropical cyclone is very fast, at any point on the Earth's surface it is not as fast as it is above that point away from the retarding influence of the Earth's surface.
Though these efforts were sound, the way they were carried out was not in any way supervised. In 1458, Matthias borrowed as many as 500 heavy cavalry from Bohemian king, George of Poděbrady, to strengthen his situation at home against his rival landlords. This marks the turning point away from obsolete noble banners to skilled soldiers of fortune (in this case, they were remnants of the Hussites, whose battle tactics were later adapted by the Black Army). He needed more seasoned veterans, so he chose to settle a group of rogue Czech Army deserters led by John Jiskra who were already plundering the northern countryside seeking daily loot.
Adams then added another new face, with left-sided Sheffield Wednesday player Daniel Jones signed on until the end of the season. With the influx of defenders limiting first team opportunities, Clayton McDonald joined Bristol Rovers on loan until the end of the season. Jones scored on his debut, helping Vale to earn a point away at AFC Wimbledon in front of the television cameras. New signings Hughes and Purse gave Vale a 3–0 home win over Accrington on 2 February. Three days later bottom club Wimbledon arrived at Vale Park, and Vale won the game 3–0 thanks to goals from Hughes and Vincent (2).
Right back Lauren scored on his debut for Arsenal against Liverpool two days after; Vieira was dismissed off the pitch for the second successive game, with Liverpool being reduced to nine men when midfielders Gary McAllister and Dietmar Hamann were also shown red cards. In Vieira's final match before his five-match suspension, he scored two goals against Charlton Athletic at Highbury in a 5–3 win. Arsenal earned a point away to Chelsea in the first week of September and drew 1–1 against Bradford City. Although the team beat Coventry City 2–1, they needed a late goal scored by Dennis Bergkamp to draw away against promoted Ipswich Town.
The Crawford rule, named after John R. Crawford, is designed to make match play more equitable for the player in the lead. If a player is one point away from winning a match, that player's opponent will always want to double as early as possible in order to catch up. Whether the game is worth one point or two, the trailing player must win to continue the match. To balance the situation, the Crawford rule requires that when a player first reaches a score one point short of winning, neither player may use the doubling cube for the following game, called the "Crawford game".
After a poor performance at home Drott ended up in 5th place, just 1 point away from the playoffs. The club reached a 3rd place in Allsvenskan in the 1971–72 season, however Hellas turned out to be too strong yet again in the playoffs, but not until a third decisive game had been played. Drott became runners-up in the 1972–73 season Allsvenska and were yet again defeated in the playoff semifinals by Hellas; the club lost only 4 of 18 matches in the league. Drott ended up in 6th place in the 1973–74 season, with Bengt Hansson becoming the league's top goal scorer.
Titan Fighting Championships follows the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, which were first established in April 2000. The Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts have been adopted by every state athletic commission that holds mixed martial arts events throughout the United States. Under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts there are no groin strikes, eye gouging, kicking or kneeing a grounded opponent, downward elbows, strikes to the back of the head, head butting, biting, or grabbing the fence. Upon a violation of the rules, referee can either warn the fighter, take a point away, or disqualify the fighter depending upon the regularity and severity of the foul.
With Restrepo in goal, the Strikers improved from 9th place in the league standings, to 1 point away from the Spring Season title. Restrepo helped the Strikers reach the final 8 of the 2016 US Open Cup, and for his heroics is named lower division player of the tournament. Due to the dire financial situation of the Strikers, Restrepo was transferred briefly back to the Tampa Bay Rowdies to finish the 2016 North American Soccer League season. He served as the backup goalkeeper for the last month of the Rowdies season. On March 9, 2017, San Antonio FC of the USL announces the signing of Restrepo for the 2017 season.
McLaren stated this was done since Norris was already likely to drop out of the points on the aging tyres, and was thus aiming to take the fastest lap point away from other teams. This was McLaren's first pointless race since the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix, ending a 12 race point-scoring streak, which reduced their lead for third place in the Constructors' Championship. Neither driver lost positions in the Drivers' Championship but both had their lead reduced. McLaren announced ahead of the Eifel Grand Prix that the rest of the aerodynamic upgrade which the new nose was a part of would be installed on the car at that race.
Though Smith became one of the few men to last the entire 12 rounds with Tyson, he offered little offense during the fight, instead constantly grappling with Tyson in an effort to reduce the effectiveness of Tyson's punches. Because of the excessive holding, referee Mills Lane twice took a point away from Smith, first in second round, and then again in the eighth. Smith's best offensive pressure arguably was during the fight's final seconds in which he was able to land a right hand to the head of Tyson. Tyson would earn the victory by way of unanimous decision, winning every round on all three of the judges scorecards.
More crowd trouble also occurred in the 1–0 win at Doncaster Rovers, as Dick Evans was grabbed by the throat and Teddy Morse was "hurled under the waggonette". Morse was sent off in the following game, a 1–0 home defeat by Ilkeston Town, after Willett claimed he had bitten his nose. Vale went on to win their final two home fixtures, ending the campaign in seventh-place with 31 points from 28 matches, just one point away from third-place. Dick Evans finished as the club's top-scorer, claiming 12 league goals – though some of these might actually have been scored by namesake Ted Evans.
In the men's 10 m air pistol, held on the first day of the Games, Issachenko shot 576 points to finish in a four-way tie with Italy's Vigilio Fait, Japan's Masaru Nakashige, and Germany's Abdulla Ustaoglu for twenty-third place. Three days later, Issachenko came strong from his frustrated air pistol feat to take the sixth spot in the 50 m pistol final with a score of 654.5 points. At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, Issachenko fired a score of 570 to pick up a bronze medal in the 25 m standard pistol, just a point away from South Korea's Park Byung-taek.
If your opponent strikes the object ball and you believe it is going into your pocket (or banking into a side pocket or their own pocket), you can take the cue ball and "shuck" it at your opponent's corner pockets. If you sink the cue ball in their pocket before the object ball falls into a pocket, you have essentially stolen the point away from your opponent. Of course, if you attempt a shuck and sink the cue ball, but the object ball does not fall into a pocket then you lose the point. The Gentleman's rule is also employed if the object ball stops just short of a pocket as your shuck with the cue ball misses (i.e.
Brentford under the guidance of Steve Coppell finished 3rd in the Second Division just one point away from 2nd place Reading whom they played on the final day of the season. The "Bees" took the lead through Martin Rowlands just after half time and it looked as if it would be enough to see them promoted by a late strike from Jamie Cureton ended a dramatic promotion race. Stoke City went into the 2001–02 season looking to again automatic promotion after two failed attempts to win the play-offs losing to Gillingham and Walsall. Stoke had a poor run of form at the turn of the year and in the end had to settle for 5th position.
He scored his first goal for the club against Cremonese in September 1993 but had a difficult time against the highly organised and resolute Italian defences, scoring a further seven goals in the league. This was partly due to manager Osvaldo Bagnoli's inability to find a stable forward partnership, preferring Bergkamp in a three with Rubén Sosa and Salvatore Schillaci. Inter's poor league form culminated in the sacking of Bagnoli in February 1994 and his replacement by Gianpiero Marini, a member of Italy's 1982 FIFA World Cup- winning squad. The club finished 13th in Serie A, one point away from relegation, but enjoyed success in the UEFA Cup, beating Austria Salzburg in the final over two legs.
Phuentsholing City competed in the inaugural season of the Bhutan National League, finishing fifth out of six teams, ahead of Samtse, with three wins and a draw from ten games. The wins came against Samtse 2–1 and 1–0 as well as against Zimdra, with a point also gained away at Ugyen Academy. The club competed again the following season, but was less successful, this time finishing in last place out of the six competing teams, with a single win and a draw from ten games. The club's only victory came at home to Druk Pol, while they managed to win a point away in a 0–0 draw with Yeedzin.
The Trojans reached the championship match and defeated Florida, 3–1. The 2003 squad became the first repeat NCAA champion in six years and was the first repeat champion in NCAA history to go undefeated. April Ross was the Honda Award winner, while the 2003 team comprised four All-Americans, including three on the first team. Since 2003, the Trojans have not won a Pac-10 or NCAA championship, but have reached the final four in 2004 (including upsetting top seeded Nebraska in the regional final), in 2007, where they were one point away from defeating top- seeded Stanford in the national semifinals USC defeated by Stanford in national semifinals and in 2010 (upsetting Stanford in the regional final).
In the 2005–06 season, Al-Karkh finished in the relegation zone with 12 points out of 12 matches, one point away from Diyala FC that had 13 points, being relegated for the second time to the Iraq Division One. The team stayed in the Division One until the 2009–10 season, where they were among the six clubs that were elected to play the last two Iraqi Premier League places playoff. Under the management of Nasrat Nassir, Al-Karkh won promotion and returned to the Premier League. After two seasons, Al-Karkh was relegated again before returning once again to the Premier League after winning Division One in the 2012–13 season.
Stoke's first home game in the Premier League produced an exciting 3–2 win over Aston Villa with Mamady Sidibé getting the winner in the 93rd minute. Stoke claimed a valuable point away at title challenges Liverpool in September and earned wins over Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion in October and November with Rory Delap's long throw-ins causing defenses problems. Stoke hit poor form in December failing to win a match and had to deal with an embarrassing on-field clash between teammates Ricardo Fuller and captain Andy Griffin away at West Ham United. In January Stoke brought in James Beattie and Matthew Etherington who proved to be influential signings.
This also led to the introduction of a new "lion rampant" crest. He improved the training regime, introducing ballwork to training sessions, a practice rare in England at the time; the youth and scouting systems begun by his predecessor were extended and he abandoned the club's old recruiting policy of signing often unreliable stars, opting instead for lesser known but more reliable players from the lower divisions. He also urged the club's fans to be more partisan and to get behind the team. Drake's early years were unpromising, as Chelsea finished 19th and just a point away from relegation in his first season and 8th in his second. In 1954–55, the club's jubilee year, everything clicked.
Johannes Kepler observed that comet tails point away from the Sun and suggested that the Sun caused the effect. In a letter to Galileo in 1610, he wrote, "Provide ships or sails adapted to the heavenly breezes, and there will be some who will brave even that void." He might have had the comet tail phenomenon in mind when he wrote those words, although his publications on comet tails came several years later.Johannes Kepler (1604) Ad vitellionem parali pomena, Frankfort; (1619) De cometis liballi tres , Augsburg James Clerk Maxwell, in 1861–1864, published his theory of electromagnetic fields and radiation, which shows that light has momentum and thus can exert pressure on objects.
The -field, therefore, is analogous to the electric field , which starts at a positive electric charge and ends at a negative electric charge. Near the north pole, therefore, all -field lines point away from the north pole (whether inside the magnet or out) while near the south pole all -field lines point toward the south pole (whether inside the magnet or out). Too, a north pole feels a force in the direction of the -field while the force on the south pole is opposite to the -field. In the magnetic pole model, the elementary magnetic dipole is formed by two opposite magnetic poles of pole strength separated by a small distance vector , such that .
Matthews, Complete Record, p. 61. Arthur Turner took over from Brocklebank as manager in November 1954 with the club mid-table in the Second Division, having gained only one point away from home. By the end of the season they had scored 92 goals,Matthews (1995), pp. 25–27. inflicted Liverpool's record defeat, by nine goals to one, which was also Birmingham's widest margin of victory in a league match since the 19th century, and, needing five points from the last three games, all away from home, to be sure of promotion, confirmed themselves as champions with a 5–1 win in the last game of the season away at Doncaster Rovers.
Tosa's only tournament victory as a shogi professional came in 1998 when he defeated Toshiyuki Moriuchi to win the 32nd . In August 2010, Tosa defeated Kiyozumi Kiriyama in 69th Meijin Class B2 league play to become the 42nd professional to win 600 official games. In March 2017, Tosa finished the finished 75th Meijin Class C2 league play (April 2016March 2017) with a record of no wins and 10 losses, earning a second demotion point which meant he was only one point away from automatic demotion to "Free Class" play. As a result, he declared his intention to the Japan Shogi Association to become a Free Class player as of April 2017 rather than risk automatic demotion.
Substitute Jordi Cruyff added a third in the 75th minute to move United into second place in the table, four points behind leaders Aston Villa going into the international break. Raimond van der Gouw who deputised for injured goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel at Southampton featured again at home to Wimbledon, a match that Manchester United won 5–1, the biggest win of the season at Old Trafford. Ryan Giggs, Beckham, Yorke and Cole (twice) all scored; Ferguson in particular hailed the contribution of 19-year- old defender Wes Brown. United earned a point away at Derby County on 24 October, and deservedly beat Everton 4–1 at Goodison Park on Halloween to cut the gap at the top to just a point.
Ray Perkins, who played as a wide receiver for Bear Bryant in the 1960s, was named as the new head coach at Alabama on December 14, 1982, to succeed Bryant after his 25-year tenure as Alabama's head coach. After opening the season with four consecutive wins and rising to #3 in the AP poll, The Tide suffered a controversial 34–28 loss to Penn State. Trailing 34-7 entering the 4th quarter, Alabama rallied and seemed to be an extra point away from victory after tight end Preston Gothard appeared to catch a game- tying touchdown pass with eight seconds left in the game. One official signaled a touchdown but was overruled by the back judge who ruled Gothard was out of bounds.
At RC Lens, Gillot was promoted to the team's manager after Joël Müller resigned on January 24, 2005, and for the remainder of the season he guided the club to a seventh-place finish. In his first full season Gillot would impress the fans with his outspokenness, confidence towards youth and offensive play that saw the team move up to fourth and qualification for the 2006–07 UEFA Cup. This saw a growing expectation from the fans that the club could achieve more, however the club finished fifth and a point away from qualification for the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League. Unable to exceed expectations Gillot resigned on May 28, 2007; however he still remained at the club as a recruiter.
The unbeaten start continued with a 1–1 draw with Gillingham, Louis Dodds scoring the equalising goal to secure the point. An injury-time penalty from Sam Foley then rescued a point away at Swindon Town as Vale twice came from behind against an attractive Swindon side; the penalty was awarded in bizarre circumstances as Jordan Williams handled the ball from a corner to try and stop the game after seeing a teammate lying injured on the pitch. Vale then cruised to a comfortable 3–0 home victory over Doncaster Rovers despite Foley missing a penalty early in the game. Yet another player arrived in the form of central midfielder Jak McCourt, signed on a one-month loan from Leicester City.

Atlético Español Fútbol Club On September 19, 1971 when a group of Spanish entrepreneurs / business people decided to buy the franchise of what was then known as Necaxa and change their name to Atlético Español. The reason for the name change was due to their nationality and ideology in the world of business. The branded club were modeled on the defunct team Real Club España, with a similar name and kit to the predecessor. The team would immediately obtain the nickname Toros because in their badge was a bull next a football and the initials AE. Español characterized itself to be a team which was a fighter, but their start was not the ideal one since in the 1971–72 season they were a point away from descending to the 2nd division.
Furthermore, it was found that upon moving the branching point away from the heterocycle led to a red-shift in the optical absorption, which was attributed to a decrease in the degree of twisting, resulting in an increase in the conjugation between the tellurophene backbone. Synthesis of P3TeV using Stille coupling Heeney et al. reported the synthesis of the first tellurophene- vinylene copolymer through Stille coupling of 2,5-dibromo-3-dodecyltellurophene and (E)-1,2-bis(tributylstannyl)ethylene, resulting in P3TeV in 57% yield with an approximate Mn of 10 kDa and a polydispersity of 2.4. By synthesizing thiophene and selenophene analogues, it was found that there was a reduction in the optical band gap as a result of the stabilization of the LUMO, resulting in a small band gap of 1.4 eV for P3TeV.
A second defeat followed two days later, as Cardiff lost 3–1 to West Ham United, with the Football Echo criticising the team by stating "they do not appear to have a fixed plan of campaign and they are not able in the circumstances to make profitable use of the advantages that should be theirs as a result of the alteration in the offside rule." The side registered their first win of the season in their next game, beating Everton 2–1 at Ninian Park following goals from Jimmy Gill and Harry Beadles. A 1–0 defeat in the reverse fixture against West Ham was followed by the club's first point away from home as they drew 1–1 with Huddersfield Town. Cardiff took the lead through Willie Davies before Clem Stephenson equalised.
A club named Al-Naqil (meaning 'Transport') were the runners-up of the 1974–75 Iraqi National League, but after the season they had no administration and financial backing so Al-Naqil folded. Al-Naqil's players, who were just one point away from winning the 1974–75 Iraqi National League, thus joined fellow Ministry of Transport team and newly promoted side Al-Zawraa. This meant that Al-Zawraa became one of the strongest clubs in Iraq right from their first season in the top-flight of Iraqi football, which was the 1975–76 season. Al-Zawraa managed to win the league title in their very first season, finishing five points ahead from runners-up Al-Tayaran (now called Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya), who would soon become Al-Zawraa's biggest rivals.
Smith signed a permanent two-year deal with Oldham Athletic on 20 June 2013, after being released by Norwich City having been at the club for seven years. Smith was made captain of Oldham Athletic after manager Lee Johnson said Smith was as brave as a lion, brave on the ball and can take the ball anywhere. He scored his first goal for the club with a stunning strike in the FA Cup 2013–14 second round against Mansfield Town. Smith scored his first league goal for the club in a 1–1 draw against Leyton Orient, scoring in added time to bring the scores level and earn the club a point away against the then third in the division Leyton Orient with a fantastic chipped effort from 30 yards out.
The Trashcan Man indulges his ambition of burning down cities, first setting fire to oil tanks in Powtanville and then destroying the city of Gary, Indiana. While running from the Powtanville fires, he vaults over a railing and breaks his right wrist; the fracture doesn't properly set and the injury eventually causes his hand to point away from his body at an almost ninety-degree angle. Later, while setting the fires in Gary, he sustains severe burns to his left arm when a timing device he has placed in an oil tank ignites prematurely. The Trashcan Man abandons his original plans of starting fires randomly across America to join Flagg when the Dark Man appears in his dreams and promises the Trashcan Man "great work" in the desert.
He scored his first Premiership goal away to Leicester City on Boxing Day with a last gasp equaliser to earn a 1–1 draw for his side, five minutes after being introduced as a substitute. He made his first start for the club after 18 first-team appearances on 31 January 2004 in Newcastle's 1–1 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrew's. He was replaced by Craig Bellamy after 75 minutes of play. He scored once more during the season when he sealed a late point away at Southampton on 12 May during a 3–3 draw. Ambrose made 37 appearances in all competitions over the course of the season, scoring three times. With Bobby Robson sacked by Newcastle at the end of August 2004, Ambrose found first-team opportunities limited during the early stages of the season.
Expert players are able to win against any computer player without giving a point away, since the AI isn't very well developed (and there are no difficulty options) and it's hard to miss a ball. The most usual tactic is to lure the opponent into the net (by making low shots), and then expect he bounces against a mid-height ball close to the net, or if he manages to return, call in a long lob, leaving the opponent with no chances of returning the ball. With harder-hitting characters, it is possible to make strong and accurate returns after the serve, which the computer-controlled player rarely manages to return. While managing to make perfect use of the lob and spinning shot aim is essential to play the game, top spins can be more a nuisance than helpful.
In July, Vincent Tan had reached an agreement with Sam Hammam over the £15 million debt owed to Langston, where Hammam would become Honorary Life President of the club, this was considered as the first step of becoming a debt-free club. Cardiff went on to win the first ever Premier League South Wales derby against Swansea City. Following a 3–0 loss to Southampton, Mackay was sacked with the club only 1 point away from the relegation places. On 2 January 2014, former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær was confirmed as first team manager, becoming the first foreign manager to take charge of the team. Despite the change in management, Solskjær failed to save the club from relegation meaning an instant return to the Championship 12 months after winning promotion, following a 3–0 defeat to Newcastle.
PEC Zwolle never let up pressure and increased the margin when Guyon Fernandez, who was on loan from Feyenoord, scored the third goal in the 22nd minute off an assist from Mateusz Klich and then moments later headed in his second goal into the far corner off a cross from Bram van Polen in the 34th minute. The two teams then headed into halftime with a scoreline of 4–1 in favour of Zwolle. Ajax manager Frank de Boer was visibly infuriated from the sidelines but there was little his team could do. While his club were at the top of the league table, one point away from winning their fourth consecutive (33rd overall) national title, winning the Cup would seem impossible considering the performance of his team in the first half, with the only chance coming from a shot by Bojan Krkić which hit the crossbar.
Following Conor O'Shea's departure at the end of the 2015/16 season, Quins appointed John Kingston, then head coach, as his successor. In Kingston's first season, though his side struggled to find form on the road and failed in Cup competitions, a strong run at the end of the season left Quins on the brink of European Champions Cup qualification for the first time in three seasons. It was achieved after a bonus point away at Northampton Saints on the last day of the season secured sixth place, with the Saints themselves missing out on games won. Despite this however, Quins headed into the 2017/18 season still with significant problems in terms of their squad depth and away form, and though they started the season no worse than they had ended the previous one, their form started to deteriorate in the new year.
The result kept Blackpool in the play-off places and preserved their unbeaten home record. The next game saw Blackpool earn a point away to Swansea in a 0–0 draw, a point that would ultimately determine the fate of both teams come the end of the season. Seven goals in the next two games saw Blackpool earn a 3–3 draw at Doncaster Rovers and a 4–1 home victory over Scunthorpe United. There then followed a slump with the Tangerines earning only one point from the next three games: a defeat away to Reading, a home draw with local rivals Preston North End, and then the first home defeat of the season, against Barnsley. A win (3–0 at Middlesbrough), a defeat at Ipswich, and a win at Derby County earned a further six points in the last three games of 2009.
However, Premier League form improved, with Chelsea rising from 16th, one point away from relegation, to eighth place after an incredible fightback after going 1–0 down to win 1–2 away against Southampton. However, the team's form began to slip with a disappointing 1–1 home draw against Stoke City, and a 2–2 home draw against West Ham, resulting in Chelsea slipping down to tenth. Chelsea registered a 1–4 away win at AFC Bournemouth, with Eden Hazard finally getting on the score sheet, and after going down 0–2 against rivals Tottenham, fought back to draw 2–2, Hazard again scoring to seal away any chances of title contenders Tottenham winning the Premier League. Chelsea drew 1–1 away to Liverpool and played out a 1–1 home draw against Leicester City, with Claudio Ranieri, former Chelsea boss, being received a guard of honour.
On 7 August 2016, Leicester began the 2016–17 season with a 2–1 defeat to Manchester United in the 2016 FA Community Shield. The start to Ranieri's second Premier League season with Leicester was less successful: by late November, the team had lost 6 of their opening 12 Premier League matches, conceded 20 goals while only scoring 14, and were in 14th place in the table, only two points above the relegation zone. Furthermore, Leicester had only won three matches in total, and had only managed to obtain one point away from home. Pundits opined that the team was unable to foster the same mentality that won them the title the previous season, and that N'Golo Kanté's departure to Chelsea, Vardy's goal drought, Leicester's opponents' different tactical approaches and the additional commitment of playing in the Champions League were the reasons for the club's sudden drop in form.
An instrumental strings version of the title theme was used in 2007 tourism commercials for the Dominican Republic. The soundtrack of Moonraker was composed by John Barry and recorded in Paris, again, as with production, marking a turning point away from the prior studio, CTS Studios in London. The score also marked a turning point in John Barry's output, abandoning the Kentonesque brass of his earlier Bond scores in favor of slow, rich string passages – a trend which Barry would continue in the 1980s with scores such as Out of Africa and Somewhere in Time. For Moonraker, for the first time since Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Barry used a piece of music called "007" (on track 7), and "Bond smells a rat", the secondary Bond theme composed by Barry and introduced in From Russia with Love during Bond's escape with the Lektor; some classical music pieces were also included in the film.
Naft Al-Wasat SC was found on 1 July 2008 by the Ministry of Oil. The founding board consisted of Riyadh Bahr Al-Ouloom, Abbas Fakhruddin, Firas Nouri, Haitham Abbas, Ali Juwad, Yasin Khudhair, Mustafa Mohammed, Hassan Juwad, Wisam Fawzi and Basim Radhi. The club entered the Iraq Division Two and was promoted to the Iraq Division One in the 2010–11 season. In the 2011–12 season, Naft Al-Wasat made their first transfer from other clubs, signing Karrar Abd from Kufa FC in January 2012. In the 2011–12 season, Naft Al-Wasat barely qualified to the second stage, after having 8 wins, 6 draws and 4 losses, only a point away from Kufa FC. In the second stage, Naft Al-Wasat finished in 4th place of the Group 2, at 12 points, after having 4 wins and 4 losses, ending their first season in the Division One with failure.
Born in Nalchik, Krasnozhan became the head coach of his native club Spartak Nalchik in 2004. In 2005, he managed to promote the modest club to the Russian Premier League. In spite of insufficient financing, the team avoided relegation, and nearly reached the Europa League places finishing in the 6th position in 2010. Following that season, Krasnozhan resigned to move to Lokomotiv Moscow. On 4 June 2011, rumours spread that Lokomotiv chairman Olga Smorodskaya suspected Krasnozhan of throwing the home league game against FC Anzhi Makhachkala, played on 27 May and finished 1-2, and decided to fire him on the grounds of the suspicion. Lokomotiv was 5th in the table at that moment, just one point away from first-placed CSKA. On 6 July, after Lokomotiv Committee of Directors meeting, Krasnozhan's contract was officially terminated on the basis of "negligence in his job". Russian Football Union subsequently refused to investigate the case.
Solti's early successes on his new team had continued at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he reached the Olympic final for the first time, rounding out the eight-man running target field to eighth at 667.0. Furthermore, Solti had a golden opportunity to carry the Guatemalan flag in the opening ceremonies as the oldest and most experienced competitor of the team. At the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Solti shot brilliantly a 674.6 to defend his title in the 10 m running target, holding off a charge from U.S. marksman Armando Ayala with a sterling 2.4-point lead. Coming to Sydney 2000 as one of the favorites in the 10 m running target, Solti was expected to win Guatemala's first ever Olympic medal based on his outstanding achievements, but fell out of contention to a shameful tenth with a score of 572, just a single point away from the final cutoff.
In 2016, New York Red Bulls II claimed the USL regular season title, beating the Harrisburg City Islanders 4-1 to clinch the honor with three games to spare. The win, which was New York’s seventh in a row, moved Red Bulls II to an impressive 19-3-5 on the year. In addition to claiming the league’s regular season title in their second season of existence, Red Bulls II, coached by former first-team player John Wolyniec, have already claimed some USL records and are nearing others: they’re just one point away from setting the league record for points in a season, and need only three goals in their final three games to break the USL mark for goals. The team already holds the USL record for road wins in a season and will look to become the third side in league history to win both the regular season and USL championship following the conclusion of the regular season on September 25.
The 1984–85 season was cancelled with Al-Zawraa in eighth position, and the 1985–86 season was one of the worst in Al-Zawraa's history as they finished in ninth, just one point away from the relegation playoff, although they did win their second Victory Championship. They finished in seventh in 1986–87 and fifth in 1987–88, and lost the 1987–88 Iraq FA Cup final on penalties to Al- Rasheed; they were also runners-up in the Uday Saddam Hussein Cup that season. Al-Zawraa improved in the 1988–89 season as they finished fourth in the league and won the Iraq FA Cup for the fifth time, and they also participated in, and won, the first ever ACC Club Championship (organised by the Arab Cooperation Council). They did exactly the same in the following season finishing fourth again, winning the Iraq FA Cup again and winning the ACC Club Championship again.
These models argue that cilia developed from pre-existing components of the eukaryotic cytoskeleton (which has tubulin and dynein also used for other functions) as an extension of the mitotic spindle apparatus. The connection can still be seen, first in the various early-branching single-celled eukaryotes that have a microtubule basal body, where microtubules on one end form a spindle-like cone around the nucleus, while microtubules on the other end point away from the cell and form the cilium. A further connection is that the centriole, involved in the formation of the mitotic spindle in many (but not all) eukaryotes, is homologous to the cilium, and in many cases is the basal body from which the cilium grows. An apparent intermediate stage between spindle and cilium would be a non-swimming appendage made of microtubules with a selectable function like increasing surface area, helping the protozoan remain suspended in water, increasing the chances of bumping into bacteria to eat, or serving as a stalk attaching the cell to a solid substrate.
Sunil Chhetri celebrating after scoring during the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup India's first competitive matches of the 21st century were the 2002 FIFA World Cup first round qualifiers. India took a very bright start, defeating the United Arab Emirates 1–0, drawing Yemen 1–1, as well as two victories over Brunei, including a 5–0 victory in Bangalore. However, they finished a point away from qualification for the next round. In 2003, India took part in the 2003 SAFF Championship. The team qualified for the semi-finals but fell to Bangladesh 2–1. Later in 2003, India participated in the Afro-Asian Games being held in Hyderabad. Under the coaching of Stephen Constantine, India managed to make it to the final of the tournament after defeating Zimbabwe, a team ranked 85 places above India in the FIFA rankings at the time, 5–3. Despite the major victory, during the gold-medal match India were defeated 1–0 by Uzbekistan U21. Because of this achievement, Constantine was voted as the Asian Football Confederation's Manager of the Month for October 2003.
Barring the opening-day 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool, Sheffield Wednesday were in the bottom three virtually all season long. A very poor start to the season saw the club fail to win any of their first nine league games (gaining just one solitary point away to Premier League newcomers Bradford City) and an 8–0 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United in September saw most people tip the club as favourites for relegation, and this opinion was further strengthened by their failure to make a substantial improvement as the season went on as they won just once in their first 17 games (twice in their first 20). The board of directors decided that enough was enough and on 21 March, Danny Wilson's managerial contract was terminated, three days after an appalling 1-0 defeat away to a struggling Watford side who had previously won only once in their previous 20 league games. Wilson's assistant Peter Shreeves took temporary charge, and kept the Owls in contention for survival right up to the penultimate day of the season.
