He frequently depicted characters of other artists — notably Magritte, M. C. Escher, and Bruegel. Prior to his focus on painting he taught and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent.

It was released for Microsoft Windows in September 2013, and later announced for macOS and Linux in August 2015. The ray-tracing performed by the RT cores can be used to produce reflections, refractions and shadows, replacing traditional raster techniques such as cube maps and depth maps. Instead of replacing rasterization entirely, however, the information gathered from ray-tracing can be used to augment the shading with information that is much more photo-realistic, especially in regards to off-camera action. Cleary studied and received her bachelor's at Washington University, in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. She then went to Temple University, where she received her master's degree from the Tyler School of Art.

He coined the term "PENtings" in reference to his 'painterly' usage of ballpoint pens. British artist James Mylne, based in London, has been creating photo- realistic artwork since the mid-1990s using black ballpoint pens (shown at top). Since 2014, Mylne's output has expanded to include works which display more personal views and interests in complex, mixed-media arrangements.

IGNs Goldstein offered similar praise, describing the table as "almost photo-realistic". Rüdiger Steidle of PC Games appreciated the use of different camera angles for all necessary views. The game is based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail and was the second of three Monty Python games created by 7th Level. The game's aesthetics are a mixture of photo realistic rendering and the comic style of Terry Gilliam. The objective is to move through the world and collect a series of objects in order to cross the bridge of death.
After returning to New York from a Fulbright Fellowship in his native Ecuador in the early 1990s, Bastidas began using a restricted color-palette of black and white. His medium- and large-scale paintings allude to black-and-white photography, and feature contrasting zones of high and low detail. By making thousands of marks with a size No. 1 hog's bristle brush on linen primed with rabbit-skin glue, Bastidas achieves a high level of image definition. He also works in digital photography, which informs his subject matter without rendering a photo-realistic effect.
By the 1980s, Greenwold was still focused primarily on placing the human figure in gaudy interiors. These games shipped with the Konami Justifier, a plastic light gun modeled after a revolver.

The Last Goodbye is an immersive experience following Holocaust survivor Pinchas Gutter as he makes his final pilgrimage to Majdanek, a former Nazi extermination camp in occupied Poland. It debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017 and had its international premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2017. The 16-minute-long experience combines 360-degree video and photo realistic interactive environments one can walk through and interact with. This virtual reality experience is a rare glimpse at history from the eyes of a man who lived it.

Blomkamp employs a documentary-style, hand-held, cinéma vérité technique, blending naturalistic and photo-realistic computer-generated effects, and his films often deal with themes of xenophobia and social segregation. He is best known as the co-writer and director of the critically acclaimed and financially successful science fiction action film District 9, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Dr. Mary Frances Pratt, CC, RCA (née West; March 15, 1935 – August 14, 2018) was a Canadian painter specializing in photo-realistic Still life paintings. While Pratt never thought of her work as being focused on one subject matter, her early works focus on domestic scenes, while some of her later work have a darker undertone, with people as the central subject matter. She painted what appealed to her, being emotionally connected to her subject. Pratt often spoke of conveying the sensuality of light in her paintings, and of the "erotic charge" her chosen subjects possessed.

Stéphane Graff (born 1965) is a Franco-British, self-taught artist, based in London. His practice focuses on photography and photo-realistic paintings. Having been influenced by the psychoanalytical traditions of Freud and Jung, and scientific methods, Graff, regularly addresses in his work themes of identity, concealment, memory and a secular conception of the sacred. Wonderful Days (also known as Sky Blue) is a South Korean animated science fiction film, released in 2003, written and directed by Kim Moon-saeng. It features backdrops rendered using photo-realistic computer-generated imagery, comparable to those in the film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, along with the use of highly detailed models for some of the backdrops into which the cel animated characters were then animated. However, convincing CGI animation of humans (especially human movement) was not attempted. The backgrounds in the film were shot with traditional motion control techniques, then processed to look like CG. The vehicles were all rendered, and the characters were cel animated.
The artist, George Shaw, moved into Tile Hill in 1968 with his family. The estate in Tile Hill his family moved to was built after the war, as part of the nationwide programme to create a modern future. The estate is open-plan, cut across by long paths and roads, and edged with woods, a remnant of what was once the Forest of Arden. Although Nishikawa had not been familiar with the source material previously, his wife was a fan of the manga, and he thought that he could be able to express himself through the background artwork due to how the manga does not use a lot of backgrounds. His concepts greatly influenced Kyōgoku's vision for what he wanted to accomplish with the series, with Kyōgoku specifically citing a piece showing a cel-shaded Phos with photo-realistic hair, behind CG grass, as influential. Many shots featured in the show were directly based on Nishikawa's pieces, including the framing and the shading used.

After returning to New York from a Fulbright Fellowship in his native Ecuador in the early 1990s, Bastidas began using a restricted color palette of black and white, alluding to black-and- white photography. His medium- and large-scale paintings featured contrasting zones of high and low detail. By making thousands of marks with a size No. 1 hog's bristle brush on linen primed with rabbit-skin glue, Bastidas achieved a high level of image definition. He also works in digital photography, which informs his subject matter without rendering a photo-realistic effect. In “Autobiography as Critique,” sculptor and educator Howard McCalebb wrote: Recurrent subjects in Bastidas' paintings include architecture, water, vegetation, and references to art history.

A digital matte artist, or digital matte painter (DMP), is today's modern form of a traditional matte painter in the entertainment industry. He or she digitally paints photo-realistic interior and exterior environments that could not have been otherwise created or visited. The term 'digital' is used to distinguish a DMP from a traditional matte painter, although this is unnecessary, as the nature of a matte painter's work remains the same, regardless of the tools and techniques used. Craig Barron, the co-founder of Matte World Digital, offered an insight regarding the transition of the art from traditional to digital in the following words: > It is difficult to categorize what a matte painting shot is today... Because the cameras circle the subject almost completely in most of the sequences, computer technology was used to edit out the cameras that appeared in the background on the other side. To create backgrounds, Gaeta hired George Borshukov, who created 3D models based on the geometry of buildings and used the photographs of the buildings themselves as texture. The photo-realistic surroundings generated by this method were incorporated into the bullet time scene, and algorithms based on optical flow were used to interpolate between the still images to produce a fluent dynamic motion; the computer-generated "lead in" and "lead out" slides were filled in between frames in sequence to get an illusion of orbiting the scene. Manex Visual Effects used a cluster farm running the Unix-like operating system FreeBSD to render many of the film's visual effects.

Instead of replacing rasterization entirely, however, ray tracing is offered in a hybrid model, in which the information gathered from ray tracing can be used to augment the rasterized shading for more photo-realistic results. Numerous other fighting games followed to try to capture on Street Fighter II success, but most notably was Midway's Mortal Kombat, first released as an arcade game in 1992.
