On October 7, 2003, the then-State Senator Adler (along with Representative Bill Pascrell of New Jersey's 8th congressional district) formally endorsed Massachusetts Senator John Kerry for President in 2004 and became the co-chairman of his campaign in the state. Shortly afterwards, on December 19, 2003, Governor Jim McGreevey and most of the rest of the New Jersey Democratic Party came out in support of former Governor of Vermont Howard Dean for President. Because of Adler's endorsement of Kerry, and Kerry's decisive win in the Democratic Primary, Adler was rumored to be the frontrunner for U.S. Attorney for New Jersey if Kerry were to win the 2004 presidential election (which he did not). Similar to in 2004, State Senator Adler was one of the first elected officials in New Jersey to go against the party establishment in his presidential endorsement during the 2008 election cycle.

In a review of the final season of the anime for Anime News Network, author Rebecca Silverman described Sailor Galaxia as a threat that "looms over Earth and the solar system [...] attempting to take over every planet, and she's just come to Earth to continue her plans." Silverman also compared the Sailor Animamates with the Four Kings of Heaven, explaining that while both groups are not similar to each other, the way in which the Animamates pick their victims follows "the standard operating procedure of all Sailor Moon villains – find the most famous or prettiest person and just assume they're who you want, rinse, repeat." However Conway Morris (2006) criticized Vinther and Nielsen's classification of Halkieria as a crown group mollusc, on the grounds that the growth of the spicules in the aplacophorans and polyplacophorans is not similar to the method of growth deduced for the complex halkieriid sclerites; in particular, he said, the hollow spines of various molluscs are not at all like the halkieriid sclerites with their complex internal channels. Conway Morris repeated his earlier conclusion that halkieriids were close to the ancestors of both molluscs and brachiopods.

They argued that: Halkieria’s sclerites resembled those of the modern solenogaster aplacophoran shell-less molluscs (see ), of some modern polyplacophoran molluscs, which have several shell plates, and of the Ordovician polyplacophoran Echinochiton; Halkieria’s shells are more similar to the shells of conchiferan molluscs, since shells of both of these groups show no trace of the canals and pores seen in polyplacophoran shell plates; the bristles of brachiopods and annelids are similar to each other but not to Halkieria’s sclerites. However Conway Morris (2006) criticized Vinther and Nielsen's classification of Halkieria as a crown group mollusc, on the grounds that the growth of the spicules in the aplacophorans and polyplacophorans is not similar to the method of growth deduced for the complex halkieriid sclerites; in particular, he said, the hollow spines of various molluscs are not at all like the halkieriid sclerites with their complex internal channels. Conway Morris repeated his earlier conclusion that halkieriids were close to the ancestors of both molluscs and brachiopods.
