Mark Gresham (born 6 March 1956, Atlanta, Georgia, United States) is an American composer and music journalist. In 2003 he was recipient of ASCAP's Deems Taylor Award for Sounds Like Home, an article about American composer Jennifer Higdon, published in Creative Loafing (Atlanta) (13 November 2002). In addition to being a contributing writer for Creative Loafing (Atlanta) from 2002 to 1012, Gresham has also written for NewMusicBox (the online journal of the American Music Center) and other publications. He is currently a music journalist/critic for ArtsATL.

Hollis Gillespie, Atlanta author and humor columnist Gillespie on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Hollis Gillespie is a humor columnist, writer and comedian based in Atlanta, Georgia. She wrote for Atlanta's Creative Loafing weekly for eight years until October 2008. In 2004, Writers Digest named Hollis Gillespie a "Breakout Author of the Year." Other accolades include the "Best Columnist" (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) and "Best Local Author" (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009) honors in the Creative Loafing "Best of Atlanta" Readers Survey.

Studies also show that in order to increase online participation, the contributors must feel unique, useful, and be given challenging and specific goals. These findings fall in line with the social psychology theories of social loafing and goal setting. Social loafing claims that when people are involved in a group setting, they tend to not contribute as much and depend on the work of others. Goal setting is the theory stating that people will work harder if given a specific goal rather than a broad or general problem.

Similarly, the value of the goal may be contingent on the group members. For instance, if we must share success with all other group members, then the value of the goal is reduced compared to the value of the goal from an individual perspective. Hence, the dynamic of the group is an important key in determining a person's motivation and the likelihood of social loafing. Additional factors which have been found to influence the likelihood of social loafing include one's gender, cultural background, and the complexity of the task.

9 (2) Social loafing, also known as "lurking", greatly affects the development and growth of online communities. The term social loafing refers to the tendency for individuals to expend less effort when working collectively than when working individually. This phenomenon is much like people's tendency to be part of a group project, but rely heavily on just a few individuals to complete the work. Generally, social loafers regularly follow the discussions and content of online communities, but choose not to expand on posts or add to the knowledge of the community.

In September 2002, Carolina Independent Publications acquired the area's other major weekly, the Spectator, from Creative Loafing Inc. Founded in 1978 by Godfrey Cheshire III and others in Raleigh, the Spectator had been owned by Creative Loafing since 1997 and was well known for its coverage of the arts; the name lived on as the name of the Independent's calendar of events. In 2010, the Independent presented the inaugural Hopscotch Music Festival in downtown Raleigh. The three-day annual event happens in September and features local, national and international bands in just about every genre.

Loafing and Camouflage (/L&C;) (1984) is a Greek cult comedy classic motion picture directed by Nikos Perakis. In 2005, Loafing and Camouflage: Sirens in the Aegean was released, bearing no relation to the first installment; instead, telling the story of a modern-day Army company. Limiting the scope of the project: Instructors can reduce social loafing by either dividing a big project into two or more smaller components or replacing semester-long projects with a smaller project and some other graded work. Also, breaking up a big project into smaller components can be beneficial. For example, allocating responsibility so that each individual is spearheading certain aspects of a larger project ensures accountability and helps prevent social loafing. When others are talking, group members may not have time to think of an idea, might get distracted, or merely forget about their idea before they have an opportunity to share it. The Brilliant Inventions were an Atlanta-based folk rock duo consisting of Josh Lamkin and Eliot Bronson. In 2008 they were voted Best New Local Musical Act in a Creative Loafing readers' poll. They have toured with bands such as They Might Be Giants and Jump Little Children. In 2009, they released their first studio album, Have You Changed.

Cheris F. Hodges (born 1977) is an African-American author of romance novels and a freelance journalist. Hodges graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in 1999 with a degree in journalism. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hodges has previously written for Creative Loafing Charlotte and is also a winner of the North Carolina Press Association's community journalism award.

Cohesion and motivation of team members are key factors that contribute to a company's performance. By adaptability development, self- worth, and personal motivation growth, each member becomes able to feel confident and progress in the team. Social loafing is less frequent when there is cohesion in a team; the motivation of each team member is considerably greater.

Heroes Convention, or HeroesCon, is a comic book convention that takes place in June (often over Father's Day weekend)Hargro, Carlton. "Best. Convention. The convention has been held since 1982 and is one of the oldest and largest independent comic book conventions in the United States.

The venue is cited for hosting the most concerts in the Bay Area. In 2010, the venue was awarded "Best Small Concert Venue" and "Best Back in the Saddle" from the Creative Loafing Best of Bay Awards. This venue is known for having outdoor standing room only. No outside seating is permitted to enter the venue.

Kandia Crazy Horse is an American country musician, rock critic and writer. She has written for The Village Voice, is the editor of Rip It Up: The Black Experience in Rock 'n' Roll, and also writes for Creative Loafing, and The Guardian. Built by inmates, the Multipurpose Building (1923) served as a shirt factory, shoe shop, bakery, license plate shop, laundry, hobby room, and loafing room and housed the communal showers. In a positive review from Creative Loafing, Montana Samuels wrote: "Rather than providing an outwardly raised fist to the system of politics and oppression that are all too familiar to black men growing up in the city, EarthGang’s Johnny “Olu O. The Suicide Motor Club received reviews from the Library Journal, Booklist, Locus Online, and Publishers Weekly. Creative Loafing Tampa Bay and The A.V. Club also reviewed the book, the latter of whom felt that while the book had some weaknesses the work's pacing made the book "easily [breeze] by those weaknesses". Dread Central rated the work at three out of five stars, praising The Suicide Motor Club for its originality.

Before her marriage in September 2005, she converted to Orthodox Christianity to be of the same religion as her husband, an act that caused some negative reaction in her country. She also said about her change of religion "only God can judge me".

In Arizona, scaled quail occupied wolfberry and mesquite tall for loafing cover. This overhead cover provides midday shade, but is open at the base to allow easy escape from predators. In Oklahoma, winter home ranges always contained skunkbush sumac, tree cholla, or human- made structures providing overhead cover. Regulars know to expect stylish decor and natty wait staff. (The Yellow Door) promises a Zen motif with cool colors, natural textures, and 'a very strong emphasis on balance.' Servers may be outfitted in black T-shirts with quotes from Confucius.

In late 2008 the City of Atlanta shut off water service to the shelter because of more than $160,000 in unpaid water and sewer bills. In less favorable reviews, Taylor Frantum of Dallas Observer stated that the performances were "well executed" and went off without any hitch, but criticized the visual backdrops calling them "hollow" and "uninspired". Jon Bream of Star Tribune criticized Lovato's stage presence, saying "She did not have a strong physical presence, she did not fill the room." Writers of Creative Loafing noted that Lovato "could put on a great show vocally" but noticed Lovato's lack of energy during the Tampa show.

This continued into the following spring, when Phillips fined Johnson $100 for loafing in an exhibition game. In a study of habitat selection by male greater sage grouse in central Montana during breeding season, sagebrush height and canopy cover at 110 daytime feeding and loafing sites of cocks were recorded. About 80% of the locations occurred in sagebrush with a canopy cover of 20–50%. He died of a heart attack in December 2012 at the age of 43.

The Norwegians began exporting them to the rest of Europe, where they were taken up by visiting Americans, and championed by the American Esquire magazine. Some photographs included with the Esquire feature were of Norwegian farmers in a cattle loafing area. The Changelings are a band from Atlanta, Georgia self-described as a "blend of ambient pop-fusion laced with neo-Classical and Middle Eastern styles". Although their albums have been received warmly by critics, their largest audience has probably heard them unknowingly: their music has been used in the soundtracks to game Noble Armada, the haunted attraction Netherworld Haunted House, and the television special Beyond The Da Vinci Code.

Lynch objected to the changes and had his name struck from the extended cut, which has Alan Smithee credited as the director and "Judas Booth" (a pseudonym Lynch invented, reflecting his feelings of betrayal) as the screenwriter. The antisocial behaviors caused by toxic disinhibition not only occur in multiple online platforms like blogs, hate sites, and comment sections, but also exist in diverse forms which include cyberbullying, social loafing and more. However, the distinction between benign and toxic online disinhibition is not always clear. For example, a hostile word in the online chat may damage other's self-image, but on the other hand, if the word is genuine, perhaps it may help the person on the receiving end have a better understanding of themselves.

Regional population control has been used on species that cannot be excluded from the airport environment. A nesting colony of laughing gulls at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge contributed to 98–315 bird strikes per year, in 1979–1992, at adjacent John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Though JFK had an active bird management program that precluded birds from feeding and loafing on the airport, it did not stop them from overflying the airport to other feeding sites. U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services personnel began shooting all gulls that flew over the airport, hypothesizing that eventually, the gulls would alter their flight patterns.

On April 14, 1994, two U.S. Air Force F-15 fighters accidentally shot down two U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters over northern Iraq, killing all 26 soldiers on board. The details of the incident were analyzed by West Point Professor Scott Snook in his book Friendly Fire. In his summary of the fallacy of social redundancy, Snook points to social loafing as a contributor to the failure of the AWACS aircraft team to track the helicopters and prevent the shootdown. Snook asserts that responsibility was "spread so thin by the laws of social impact and confused authority relationships that no one felt compelled to act".

RS has performed with multiple bands such as Rancid, the Skatalites, Suicide Machines, the Used, The Pietasters, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Matisyahu, and 311 to name a few. They have also taken part and participated in events throughout the state and beyond such as Vans Warped Tour '04, 97X's Next Big Thing, 98 Rock's Livestock, and numerous local events throughout the Bay area.

He also felt that the character's introductions didn't seem rushed, and that "we get a chance to get to know them a little before the action begins". Edward Adams of Creative Loafing described the show as "moody and character driven, highlighting the all-too-human flaws you'd expect from an action series like this", while IGN's Matt Fowler described the show's re-imagined world as "so original and strange, that even clichés tend to come across like revelations". In these case studies, new technology that has been introduced to an organization is examined. During the examination, one ethical question that seems to be a main focus for researchers is whether or not the new technology maintains users' privacy. The advent of technology has also opened up new avenues and opportunities for individuals to misbehave; for example, cyberloafing, the act of employees using their companies' Internet access for personal purposes during work hours. While access to the internet may not result in an increase in production deviance with more people engaging in loafing per se, the temptation to do so is certainly higher since the Internet makes it so much easier and convenient to loaf in this manner.

The Suwannee River and nearby bottomland hardwood swamps, pine forests, cypress domes, tidal creeks, and vast salt marshes provide habitat for thousands of creatures every year. Many species including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobcat, bats, alligator, raccoon and river otter are present throughout the year -- feeding, nesting, loafing, and roaming the forests and swamps. Gulf sturgeon, Florida salt marsh vole, eastern indigo snake, gopher tortoise, and wood stork are examples of threatened or endangered species that find suitable habitat within the refuge. Hangman Jury is an American rock band formed by singer and songwriter Garrett Moore in 2006. The band is noted for its '90s rock style, sound, and straight- cut lyrics. Since forming in 2006, Hangman Jury has played with acts such as Mötley Crüe, Theory of a Deadman, Rev Theory, Godsmack, Cavo, KC and the Sunshine Band, STEMM, Neurotica, and countless other bands. In 1998, Wachs and Von Haessler resumed the show on Clear Channel owned Atlanta station WKLS, which was branded as 96 Rock at the time until just after their second firing in 2006. The idea for the Fear and Loafing column came to Levitan after an awkward journalistic experience Levitan had while writing for the Daily Breeze newspaper in Torrance, California. However, apparently, in attempt to observe how much time they spend foraging at refuse dumps in Massachusetts, great black-backed gulls were only observed actively foraging 19% of their time there, eating less garbage than other common gulls, and spent most of their time roosting or loafing. Like most gulls, they also capture fish with some regularity and will readily capture any fish smaller than itself found close to the surface of the water. Whether caught or eaten after death or injury from other sources, stomach contents of great black-backed gulls usually show fish to be the primary food. On Sable Island in Nova Scotia, 25% of the stomach contents were comprised by fish but 96% of the regurgitations given to young was made up fish.

Case Conrad is an Indie rock band of four Swedes and one Portuguese, formed in 2009 and spread out between Malmö, Sweden, and Barcelona, Spain. Their sound has been described as “folk-and-surf-inflected dream pop” by magazine Creative Loafing. Gustav Haggren, who formed the group in 2009, says in an interview with Raw And Unheard regarding the band’s sound: “I am sure all and neither genre fits. It’s pop songs that we try to play as honest as we can: we experiment, push both our own and each other's limits, but most important is that we aim to keep the process playful and fun, not matter how dark a song may be.” Case Conrad has done several tours in the US and Germany.
