Meanwhile, after learning that Carl had seen the razorback, Jake sets out for the pumping station and manages to shoot it with one of Sarah's tracking darts.

It turns out that Volbragg has powers of a being a part ghost, part witch, part devil as Wendy has to say three phrases each for three times to use the magic and take away his powers. Just as a huge brick was about to hit her, Hot Stuff pushed her out of the way to save her, giving him the self-sacrifice by getting knock over by the brick. Later, everyone in Spookytown moaned for Hot Stuff's apparent death, but it was revealed by his parents that the only way to bring him back to life is by dumping him in the fire. There are many near misses and humorous situations, as Bruce and Polly evade the goons and try to recover the vase; including a dancer challenging Bruce's skills in a club, to Bruce's misunderstanding and misusing of a gesture that he gives to a motorcycle gang, and even a mad bull that gives Bruce a ride into town. The climax begins when Mr. B's goons finally locate and kidnap Polly and knock over young Billy, causing him to hit his head and go into a coma.

Also, the Christians completely demolished the Serapeum to the ground, leaving no part of its structure intact; whereas, in the film, they merely knock over all the statues and burn the (probably nonexistent) scrolls.
