Crossley led a head-on attack and downed one Do 17 while his squadron damaged several others. So close had the RAF fighters pressed home their attacks that the bombers had to move and jink to avoid their fire, putting the bomb-aimers off their aim. The Dorniers were already too close to their targets and the pilots could not realign before the formation was over and past the aiming point.

Egg is "the pride of the Gliders", and refers both to the elf permanently fixed in a stone chair in Blue Mountain, entranced in the levitation and constantly reshaped egg (actually several eggs one inside the other. It is at once an elaborate work of art and history of the elves. Winnowill's uniquely long meditations upon the Egg (she was patient enough to watch it shaped from the first shell) allow her to conceive a plan which is the subject of the second series of Elfquest, Siege at Blue Mountain. Egg (the rock shaper, real name Aurek), is later called Father of Memory by Jink.

In the 1990s, the Pinis rebranded slightly (WaRP became Warp) and then began to publish multiple titles concurrently, many with overlapping storylines, introducing many new artists and writers to the series. The (initially) color titles New Blood, Hidden Years, and Shards for the most part carried the main storyline forward from the prehistoric to the medieval period of the World of Two Moons, now named Abode, occasionally featuring non-canonical stories. The historical background of the Wolfriders was filled out in Blood of Ten Chiefs, Two-Spear, and Kahvi. The future of Abode was explored in The Rebels and Jink, set at a time when humans have reached space and colonized other worlds and the elves have all but disappeared.
