Raphiophoridae currently includes two officially recognized subfamilies. Plasmodium coatneyi was first discovered in 1961 by Dr. Don Eyles in the Malaysian state of Selangor. Plasmodium coatneyi was isolated from an Anopheles hackeri before being found in its primate host species. This was the first occurrence of acquiring a new form of malaria through its vector instead of an infected host specimen. The sample was first thought to be Plasmodium knowlesi due to the morphological similarities of the two species, but was later identified as separate due to having a tertiary periodicity compared to P. knowlesi’s quartan periodicity.

The Bishops of Brooklyn and Burlington—whose dioceses were likewise erected in 1853—were consecrated at the same time, the first occurrence of such an elaborate ceremony in the United States. The new diocese comprised the entire state of New Jersey. Bayley's work of organizing the diocese was not easy.

All specimens were collected at Street, of Somerset, from the Pre-Planorbis beds of the Blue Lias Formation of the Lower Lias Group. These beds likely occur below the first occurrence of the ammonite Psiloceras planorbis. Thus, they probably fall within the earliest Hettangian P. tilmanni Chronozone, which is about 199.6-198 million years old, immediately following the Triassic–Jurassic Boundary.

It was studied in 1948 by Professor Nils Göran David Malmqvist. The Muonionalusta meteorite, probably the oldest known meteorite (4.5653 ± 0.0001 billion years), marks the first occurrence of stishovite in an iron meteorite. The importance of this Supermarket chain lies in that it was the first occurrence of an American- style supermarket in Perú. Aldo Olcese was born in Lima on December 29, 1922. His father was a hard working Italian-Genoese immigrant. Aldo went to the United States in 1946 to study Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin and he graduated in 1950.

People project their current circumstance and values onto the future, but the future is often different enough from the present as to make such projections misleading. Because species of aetosaurs typically have restricted fossil ranges and are abundant in the strata they are found in, they are useful in biochronology. Osteoderms are the most common remains associated with aetosaurs, so a single identifiable scute can accurately date the layer it is found in. One aetosaur, Typothorax coccinarum, has been used to define the Revueltian land vertebrate faunachron. A land vertebrate faunachron (LVF) is a time interval that is defined by the first appearance datum (FAD), or first occurrence, of a tetrapod index fossil and is commonly used to date Late Triassic and Early Jurassic terrestrial strata.

When items are presented in a massed fashion, the first occurrence of the target semantically primes the mental representation of that target, such that when the second occurrence appears directly after the first, there is a reduction in its semantic processing. Semantic priming wears off after a period of time (Kirsner, Smith, Lockhart, & King, 1984), which is why there is less semantic priming of the second occurrence of a spaced item. Thus on the semantic priming account, the second presentation is more strongly primed and receives less semantic processing when the repetitions are massed compared to when presentations are spaced over short lags (Challis, 1993). This semantic priming mechanism provides spaced words with more extensive processing than massed words, producing the spacing effect.
Rupp's last Final Four team and one of his last chances at a 5th NCAA title occurred in the 1965–66 season, with Kentucky going all the way to the NCAA title game. The now historic 1966 NCAA championship game against Texas Western (now University of Texas-El Paso or UTEP) marked the first occurrence that an all-white starting five (Kentucky) played an all-black starting five (Texas Western) in the NCAA championship game. Texas Western won the game 72–65, on the night of March 19, 1966. In its earliest stages, Gotham was intended to stray from the superhero roots of the Batman comic books, instead opting to be a more grounded crime drama focusing on James Gordon and the origins of Gotham City's inhabitants before the emergence of costumed personas. As such, executive producer Bruno Heller did not want to approach the backstory of Batman's nemesis the Joker until further into the series (at a point when they were more sure of themselves). Believing that the Joker should not precede Batman himself, one of the earlier ideas was to implant minor characters throughout the first season who could go on to become the supervillain. The first occurrence of this was the cameo of a comedian in the pilot episode.
The very first known law regarding prohibition of Sunday labor for religious reasons was in 321 AD, by Emperor Constantine. The first occurrence of the phrase blue laws so far found is in the New-York Mercury of March 3, 1755, where the writer imagines a future newspaper praising the revival of "our Connecticut's old Blue Laws". In his 1781 book General History of Connecticut, the Reverend Samuel Peters (1735–1826) used it to describe various laws first enacted by Puritan colonies in the 17th century that prohibited various activities, recreational as well as commercial, on Sunday (Saturday evening through Sunday night). Sometimes the sale of certain types of merchandise was prohibited, and in some cases all retail and business activity.
In another sense, tonality means any rational and self-contained theoretical arrangement of musical pitches, existing prior to any concrete embodiment in music. For example, "Sainsbury, who had Choron translated into English in 1825, rendered the first occurrence of tonalité as a 'system of modes' before matching it with the neologism 'tonality'. In contrast, a description of the non-primate faunas from the ex situ dumpsite emphasised the largely modern ungulate sample and suggested a more recent depositional age of maximally 1.5 – 0.5 million years ago. After the series was cancelled, Golden West Television, the company that provided production facilities for the shows produced by Witt/Thomas (and Harris), distributed syndicated reruns of It Takes Two (along with its sister series, It's a Living) to local stations during the 1983-84 season. An Earth observation satellite or Earth remote sensing satellite is a satellite used or designed for Earth observation (EO) from orbit, including spy satellites and similar ones intended for non-military uses such as environmental monitoring, meteorology, cartography and others. The most common type are Earth imaging satellites, that take satellite images, analogous to aerial photographs; some EO satellites may perform remote sensing without forming pictures, such as in GNSS radio occultation. The first occurrence of satellite remote sensing can be dated to the launch of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957. Sputnik 1 sent back radio signals, which scientists used to study the ionosphere. NASA launched the first American satellite, Explorer 1, on January 31, 1958.
Irma continued to intensify while approaching the northern Leeward Islands. In his diaries, Samuel Pepys gave a vivid description of the Great Plague of London; one of the last outbreaks of the Second Pandemic. The Black Death was the first occurrence of the Second Pandemic,The first was the Plague of Justinian that affected the Byzantine Empire in the sixth to eight centuries AD, while the Third Pandemicactive from the mid-nineteenth to mid- twentieth centuryhad its greatest effect on China and India; which continued to strike England and the rest of Europe more or less regularly until the 18th century. The first serious recurrence in England came in the years 1361−62. Little is known about the death rates caused by these later outbreaks, but the so-called pestis secunda may have had a mortality of around 20 per cent.
The second- biggest tornado outbreak on record at the time, this deadly series of 48 twisters inflicted a swath of destruction from Cedar County, Iowa, to Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and a swath from Kent County, Michigan, to Montgomery County, Indiana. The outbreak lasted 16 hours and 35 minutes and is among the most intense outbreaks, in terms of number, strength, width, path, and length of tornadoes, ever recorded, including at least four "double/twin funnel" tornadoes. In addition, 17 tornadoes were rated F4, the second-largest number of violent twisters in one outbreak, after the Super Outbreak of 1974. At one point, all nine counties in the northern Indiana office's jurisdiction were under a tornado warning, marking the first occurrence of a "blanket tornado warning" in the U.S. Weather Bureau's history.
There are two main views on the derivation of the Greek word. After the folding of WPS in 2012, the club joined the new Women's Premier Soccer League Elite, which included three former WPS teams. Although they finished fifth out of the eight WPSLE teams, they recorded wins over the Chicago Red Stars and Boston Breakers as well as a draw at the Western New York Flash – the former WPS teams – in the last month of the season. Their win over the Breakers is the first occurrence of an amateur side beating a professional side in US women's soccer, (Chicago fielded an amateur roster in WPSLE,) and is the second of the Mutiny's crowning achievements. The tzangion (, ), plural tzangia (τζαγγία) was a type of boot or sandal, which in the Middle Ages became an important part of the Byzantine Emperors' regalia. In the 4th century, the tzange was a type of elegant shoe, but its use as an imperial vestment in Byzantium only began later, and was influenced by eastern, most likely, Persian, usage. Thus the first occurrence of the tzangia as a sign of royal power is in John Malalas' description of the coronation of Tzath I as king of Lazica under Justin I, where Tzath was dressed in Roman imperial garb, but wore tzangia, decorated with pearls "in the Persian manner", rather than the Roman emperor's kothornoi. By the 9th century, the wearing of red tzangia had become firmly associated with the imperial office, so much so that rebels putting them on signified their usurpation of the imperial title.
