In a second part of this study, they tested whether scrub jays remember which particular individual was present when they made specific caches. Birds cached in front of observer birds as they did the first part of this study, but then hours later were separated into three conditions where they either recovered their caches in private, in front of an observer bird that watched them cache initially, or in front of a new control bird.
At the beginning of each turn a player may perform one of the following actions with the mother ship: fold space, move up to 2 spaces (left or right), or remain idle. Folding space restructures the board so that the tile farthest away from the mother ship in the same column is moved directly in front of the mother ship while all other tiles in the column slide further away from said mother ship. In essence, the entire column of tiles is shifted one space away from the mother ship folding space. The tile that is now out of the square of tiles is then moved to fill the gap directly in front of the mother ship.
His work entitled Paradoxymoron is currently exhibited in the British Library, London. It shows a set of library book stacks, which appear to move in an extremely disconcerting way as the viewer's eyes move. He explains reverspective: Patrick Hughes. Vanishing Venice Physical structure of Vanishing Venice The picture surface of Vanishing Venice (above) is three- dimensional, made of two pyramids with their tops cut off protruding towards the viewer: the bases of the pyramids are farthest away (flat against the wall), while the flat tops (shown as the two lighter rectangles in the diagram, right) are those parts which are physically nearest to the viewer but which appear, in the picture, to be in the distance at the end of the buildings.
Originally, Davis Islands consisted of three islands. With the construction of the airport, however, the end of one canal was filled in to make enough land area for a runway, connecting the two largest islands at their southern ends and reducing the archipelago's island count to two. Nearly all streets on the island are named after bodies of water or islands. They are loosely arranged in alphabetical order, beginning with Adalia Avenue (the first street crossed after arriving on the island from the only bridge that connects it to the mainland) and ending with Severn Avenue, the street farthest away from the bridge that leads to the main island's southernmost point, on which the Davis Island Yacht Club is situated.
Pacific Ocean depth map showing the Heezen Fault and the Tharp Fault as #17. The Eltanin Fault System (Eltanin Fracture Zone) is a series of six or seven dextral transform faults that offset the Pacific-Antarctic Ridge, a spreading zone between the Pacific Plate and the Antarctic Plate. The affected zone of the Pacific-Antarctic Ridge is about 800 km long, between 56° S, 145° W and 54.5° S, 118.5° W, southwest of Easter Island, and about as far as one can get from land on planet Earth (48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W).Because of the generally remote character of the epicentral area (the Eltanin FZ is indeed close to the point at sea farthest away from any land shore) page 10.497, However, the total offset is about 1600 km.
Specific to the male hamster, his response to the female can be measured by mounting behaviour, intromission and ejaculation. Under semi-natural conditions, the mating behaviours of male and female hamsters were observed during the 4-day period of estrous. When they were allowed free interaction, females displayed lordosis in their own living area 93% of the time, where after 60 minutes of copulation the male would be driven out by the female while she retrieved his food supply and forced him into a corner farthest away from her nest via displays of aggressive behaviour. When a Syrian hamster is introduced to a stranger hamster in its own cage, they perform a standard sequence of acts and postures (also known as a fixed action pattern) that are agonistic by nature.
As stated in the introduction, there are two aspects to consider: # its local geometry, which predominantly concerns the curvature of the universe, particularly the observable universe, and # its global geometry, which concerns the topology of the universe as a whole. The observable universe can be thought of as a sphere that extends outwards from any observation point for 46.5 billion light years, going farther back in time and more redshifted the more distant away one looks. Ideally, one can continue to look back all the way to the Big Bang; in practice, however, the farthest away one can look using light and other electromagnetic radiation is the cosmic microwave background (CMB), as anything past that was opaque. Experimental investigations show that the observable universe is very close to isotropic and homogeneous.
The domestic and monastic model applied also to Collegiate institutions during the Middle Ages. Several colleges at Cambridge and Oxford universities have medieval halls which are still used as dining rooms on a daily basis. So do the Inns of Court and the Livery Companies in London. The "high table" (often on a small dais or stage at the top of the hall, farthest away from the screens passage) seats dons (at the universities) and Masters of the Bench (at the Inns of Court), whilst students (at the universities) and barristers or students (at the Inns of Court) dine at tables placed at right angles to the high table and running down the body of the hall, thus maintaining the hierarchical arrangement of the medieval domestic, monastic or collegiate household.
State-mandated radon tests in early 2007 found rooms in five elementary schools with levels above the "federal action limit" of 4 picocuries per liter for the colorless, odorless gas. (The gas naturally occurs in Fairfield County and comes up from the ground from the decay of radium. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking.) The 700 tests, conducted every five years by state law, found actionable levels of radon in Rowayton, Naramake, Cranbury and Wolfpit elementary schools as well as Richard C. Briggs High School. Mitigation work, including air-suction devices, was done on just over a dozen rooms at the various schools, then a follow-up test was done which found one Wolfpit classroom located farthest away from the air-suction devices still had 5.1 picocuries per liter, so an additional device was installed in early March 2008.
KN Aiyar, Thirty Minor Upanishads, University of Toronto Archives, , page 223, Quote: "That man who sees (his) Atman, which is all-witness and is beyond all caste and orders of life, as of the nature of Brahman, becomes himself Brahman". That which is of the character of Truth, Knowledge, Bliss, and Fullness, states Varaha Upanishad in verse 2.16, stands farthest away from Tamas (darkness, destruction, chaos).Sanskrit: सत्यज्ञानानन्दपूर्णलक्षणं तमसः परम् । ब्रह्मानन्दं सदा पश्यन्कथं बध्येत कर्मणा ॥२: १६॥ Source: ॥ वराहोपनिषत् ॥ English Translation: Srinivasa Ayyangar (Translator), The Yoga Upanishads, Varahopanishad Verses 2.16–2.18, page 404, Aidyar Library, (Editor: SS Sastri) Varaha states that what one aspires to is part of His own "light", which is all-encompassing. As Atman, self effulgent, Varaha states that "Brahma-Jnanis" are those who see nothing but the Brahman, and they are happy and content in the universe despite being subject to sufferings.
A Leslie speaker (best known through its historical and popular association with the Hammond organ) creates vibrato as a byproduct of tremolo production. As a Leslie speaker is moved by the rotating mechanism on which it is mounted, it moves closer to or farther away from any given object (such as a listener's ears) not also mounted on the mechanism. Because amplitude varies directly with sound pressure (A = k1P) and sound pressure varies directly with distance (P = k2d), such that amplitude also varies directly with distance (A = k1(k2d) = k1k2d), the amplitude of the sound as perceived by the listener will be greatest when the speaker is at the point in its rotation closest to the listener and least when the speaker is farthest away. Because the speaker is constantly moving either toward or away from the listener, however, the mechanism's rotation is constantly affecting the listener-perceived sound's wavelength by either "stretching" the wave (increasing wavelength) or "squeezing" it (decreasing wavelength) — and because frequency, i.e.
BK Frem's forward Robert Jensen shots the ball over Svend Jensen's head, hitting the right goal post farthest away, and bouncing into the goal net near the left goal post, increasing the lead to 3–0 – almost identical to the first BK Frem goal made in the first half. B.93 decided to regroup, placing three of their players, Fritz Tarp as left innerwing, Børge Mørch as left half and Helge Scharff as right back, in positions, that they are not used to playing. B.93 is awarded a corner on the left side after an error committed by BK Frem's defender, Eiler Holm. The following corner kick ends up at Kaj Plaugmann, who makes one single move, and then shots the ball into the roof of the goal with his left foot, finally giving B.93 a goal in the match 4 minutes after BK Frem's last goal, reducing the overall score to 3–1.
The assignments of the ruling planets appear to be based upon the Northern Hemisphere seasons, as the sun (Sol) and the moon, the principal bearers of light and heat, were awarded to Leo and Cancer, respectively, since the months the sun passed through these signs (in ancient times) were the warmest and had the longest days. Conversely, Saturn, the most distant (and hence the "coldest") of the planets known to ancients, was accorded the rulership of Aquarius and Capricorn, the signs opposite Leo and Cancer, respectively. Jupiter, being next farthest away, was given the signs on either side of Aquarius and Capricorn (Pisces and Sagittarius), and Mars, next in order, received the next two (Aries and Scorpio). Since Mercury never appears more than one sign from the sun in either direction, it was deemed to rule the two signs on either side of Leo and Cancer (Virgo and Gemini), and since Venus can never be found more than two signs from the Sun, it obtained the rulership of Libra and Taurus.
The winners, Handelsstandens BK, of the 1926–27 KBUs A-række, the second-tier league under the Kjøbenhavns Boldspil-Union, managed to get past the first round by defeating the runners-up of the Copenhagen second highest league, Østerbros BK, before eventually being eliminated by B.93 in the second round. The first round match between Østerbros BK and Handelsstandens BK at Københavns Idrætspark (Idrætsparkens Fodboldbane), for the first time in Danish football, featured the squad numbers 1–22 on white squares, which were placed high on the back of all the outfield players and on the chest of the goalkeepers — numbers 1–11 were carried by the players of Handelsstandens BK, while numbers 12–22 were carried by the Østerbros BK players. The reform experiment, receiving mixed reviews by the local newspapers, was meant as a service for the spectators nothing familiar with individual players, who were listed next to their numbers in the matchday programme. The Nationaltidende's journalist argued that the numbers were too hard to spot on the players located farthest away and wearing long-striped jerseys using multiple colours.
It replicates the curvature of the Earth by compression of areas farthest away from China (most obviously the extreme horizontal squeeze of Europe), their reduced size making both a geographical and a political statement. Outside China, sub-Saharan Africa is depicted in a good approximation of the correct shape, complete with mountains near the southern tip. The interior of the continent is extraordinary: a river with twin sources (the common depiction in Classical and Islamic maps of the Nile) starts in the south of the continent, but enters the Red Sea, while the Nile, contrary to the information in non-Chinese maps of the era (though in conformity with a reported Arab geographical legend that "farther south from the Sahara Desert is a great lake, far greater than the Caspian Sea") has its source in a vast inland sea. This is likely to be based on vague information about the several great lakes in the region of modern Tanzania, gained during the course of direct trade between China and south-east Africa.
