Secret Squirrel is a cartoon character created by Hanna-Barbera and also the name of his segment in The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show, which debuted in 1965. He was given his own show in 1966, but was reunited with Atom Ant for one more season in 1967. Secret first appeared in a prime-time animated special called The World of Secret Squirrel and Atom Ant, which aired on NBC on September 12, 1965. Music of the New Day also features The Regiment Horns, known for performing and recording with artists such as Justin Timberlake as well as Marty Rifkin, pedal steel guitar ist for Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. "A Song for L.A." from the album has also been featured at home games for teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Los Angeles Kings. As of late 2012, the band was receiving radio airplay on 45 stations in 25 states, as well as in countries such as Australia, India, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In early 2013, Korula continued to tour with the NK Band, for example performing an acoustic performance for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel at Summerfest in June 2013, which included a performance of his new song "Broken Roads", included later on Solo Sessions.

Nigel Auchterlounie also took over as scriptwriter of The Bash Street Kids and Bananaman, as well as now both writing and drawing The Numskulls which itself had had a huge relaunch with one-off celebrities replacing the role of Edd starting with Ant and Dec. 12-year-old artist Zoom Rockman also joined The Beano in this issue, drawing Skanky Pigeon which appeared monthly. In the issue after the 75th Anniversary Special, fourteen new comic strips joined The Beano with twelve of these becoming the new Funsize Funnies stories, all of which are parodies of either a celebrity or television show: High School Moozical, Neigh-Bours, Celebrity Believe It or Not, I Pity the School, Murs Attacks, Ashley's Banjo, Coronation Bleat, Jose's Back, Simon's Bowel, Guess Who?, Watch-Hog and Danny Diddly O'Donoghue as well as two new one-page stories to replace Tricky Dicky and Big Time Charlie: El Poco Loco and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turkeys.

In another stellar performance, Korula and his band knocked it out of the park with a 3-hour concert featuring music from their latest album Music of the New Day and classic hits by such iconic artists as Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton." In early 2013 the band continued to tour, and it was at Summerfest that the band also opened for Gavin DeGraw on June 26, 2013, performing an audience of over 10,000 people.

Some of Yogi's other pals like Secret Squirrel, Morocco Mole, Top Cat, Hardy Har Har, Squiddly Diddly and Wally Gator were also featured as young children. Other Hanna-Barbera characters are still in adult form: Hokey Wolf is the Mayor of Jellystone Town and Ding-A-Ling Wolf briefly appeared as his photographer, Loopy De Loop works at the Jellystone Mall's Picnic Basket Food Court, Atom Ant served as Jellystone Town's superhero, Quick Draw McGraw and Baba Looey were wild west-themed entertainers, Pixie and Dixie lived in the cheese cottage within a cheese store owned by Mr. Jinks, Lippy the Lion owns a jewelry store, Peter Potamus and So-So ran a plant shop called "Peter Potamus' Plant Palace," Snooper is a crime-solving celebrity while Blabber ran the "Crooks 'n' Books" store, and Magilla Gorilla appeared as a teen idol in "Jellystone Jam" as Magilla Ice (a takeoff of Vanilla Ice).
