Fulham's high hopes for the 1933–34 season were never fulfilled; supporters blamed this on the shock transfer of top scorer Frank Newton to Reading in September and his replacement with the £2,500 signing of Arsenal's veteran striker Jack Lambert, who failed to make any impact. A run of bad results over the New Year led to McIntyre's surprise dismissal in February 1934.
Seánie O'Leary score the decisive goal for Cork as the game entered the last quarter, while Martin Coleman brought off a match- winning save from Christy Keogh to foil the Wexford comeback. A 1–17 to 3–8 defeat was Doran's lot as he endured a second successive year as the All- Ireland runner-up captain. Wexford went into decline following this defeat as Kilkenny and Offaly emerged as the dominant teams in Leinster. Doran played his last game for Wexford in a 1–15 to 2–11 Leinster decider defeat by Offaly on 8 July 1984.
When the troops fell > back he brought off the flag, under a fierce fire in which he was twice > severely wounded. In 1901, shortly after his medal was awarded, a song was published about his daring exploits: "Boys the Old Flag Never Touched the Ground". Carney died at the Boston City Hospital on December 9, 1908, of complications from an elevator accident at the Massachusetts State House, where he worked for the Department of State. His body lay in repose for one day at the undertaking rooms of Walden Banks, 142 Lenox Street, at the wish of his wife and daughter.
It was a first All-Ireland medal for Fennelly while he also had the honour of lifting the cup in Kilkenny's first title in that grade. Fennelly added a second Leinster medal to his collection in 1975 as Kilkenny once again defeated Wexford by 3-14 to 0-8. The subsequent All-Ireland final against Cork was rated the best hurling game of the year. Kilkenny ‘keeper Kevin Fennelly brought off two brilliant saves from Con Brassil and Finbarr Delaney in the closing stages to secure a 5-13 to 2-19 victory and a second consecutive All- Ireland medal for Fennelly.
On 28 July 2007 Tipperary faced Wexford, a team generally viewed as the softest team left in the championship, in the All-Ireland quarter-final. Wexford squandered numerous goal opportunities in the opening half, while Tipperary goalkeeper Gerry Kennedy brought off a fantastic save from a piledriver from Stephen Nolan. Eight wides they accumulated, however, their goal came in the 18th minute when a long high ball was touched home by Rory Jacob. Within a minute Lar Corbett crashed the sliotar past Damien Fitzhenry at the other end to give Tipperary a 1-8 to 1-5 half-time lead.
Felix Mendelssohn painted by Friedrich Wilhelm Schadow in 1834 Alan Sanders reviewed the album in Gramophone in October 1994, comparing it with what he considered to be the best recording of the work to have appeared thitherto, a Teldec disc conducted by Kurt Masur.Mendelssohn, Felix: A Midsummer Night's Dream, cond. Kurt Masur, Teldec CD, 2292-46323-2 Kathleen Battle, Frederica von Stade and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus had all sung "with great distinction", he wrote. And the playing of the Boston Symphony Orchestra was "of the highest quality" and "beautifully brought off" from the first bar of the album to the last.
Norris joined Conference South side Boreham Wood on a one-month loan in December 2012 and made his debut in a 0–0 draw with Truro City on 8 December, replacing Cliff Akurang on 65 minutes. He made his first start in the following game, lasting 80 minutes of a 3–0 victory over Farnborough, before being brought off for Mario Noto. He found himself getting picked ahead of more experienced strikers Cliff Akurang and Omer Riza. Norris notched his first goal for the club with the opener in a 1–1 draw with Staines Town on 1 January 2013.
The Eas Anie site was a major lead mining area from 1739 until 1923. The amount of lead mined led to a lead smelter being built in the mid 18th century in Strath Fillan just outside Tyndrum. The lead ore was brought off the hill and down directly to the smelter by a "gravity" track. At the time of the 1745 Jacobite rising, the English Jacobite Sir Robert Clifton owned the lease for the mine, the Argyle Militia suspected that Clifton was making the lead into bullets and sabotaged the workings and burned the miners' houses.
Having returned to Bramall Lane once more he vowed to try to force his way into first team contention having been given a wake up call by his time at Blackpool. He made a number of further substitute appearances for The Blades up to the end of the season. Having been brought off the bench in the 85th minute of the play off final against Burnley at Wembley he was subsequently sent off after the final whistle had blown for directing foul language at referee Mike Dean. Following the Blades unsuccessful play off campaign Hendrie was placed on the transfer list as the club sought to cut its wage bill.
Ring was also instrumental in moving Gerald McCarthy to centre-forward where he was charged with negating the influence of Tony Doran as Jimmy Barry-Murphy had done the year before. Seánie O'Leary, who broke his nose in the pre-match warm-up, scored the decisive goal for Cork as the game entered the last quarter, while Martin Coleman brought off a match-winning save from Christy Keogh to foil the Wexford comeback. A 1–17 to 3–8 victory gave Ring his second All-Ireland as selector. Cork secured the provincial title again in 1978 following a narrow 0–13 to 0–11 defeat of Clare.
Seánie O'Leary played the game with a broken nose after being hit in the face by a sliotar in the pre-match warm-up, however, he went on to score the decisive goal for Cork as the game entered the last quarter. Martin Coleman brought off a match-winning save from Christy Keogh to foil the Wexford comeback in the dying seconds and a 1–17 to 3–8 victory gave McCarthy his fourth All-Ireland medal. He was later presented with a second successive All-Star. In 1978 McCarthy was appointed captain as Cork set out to secure an impressive third successive All-Ireland title.
Musonda injured his ankle making a vital intervention against Gervinho who was bearing down on goal and he left the field in visible distress. Despite his uncompromising defending, Joseph Musonda is considered to be one of the gentlemen of the Zambia national team, so it was no surprise when his opponent that day, Didier Drogba, came to comfort him as he was brought off the field. Manager Herve Renard would later carry him up to receive his winners medal. Musonda made a much quicker recovery from that ankle injury than was expected demonstrating his powers of recovery and he was soon playing again for Golden Arrows in South Africa.
During the night of 14 April, the companies of the 1st Cavalry moved with the rest of the command to invest the Modoc stronghold, and in the Second Battle of the Stronghold, 15–17 April, drove the Indians out of their position and into the rocks and mountains. The 1st Cavalry lost two men killed and two wounded. On 26 April, Companies B and F went to the scene of the "Thomas massacre" and brought off a number of the wounded and dead. The same companies were attacked by Indians on 10 May, at Sorass Lake, California, but repulsed them with the loss of one warrior killed and two wounded.
Letter 564 Three and a half months earlier, he had been thinking of the painting as an example of the sort of portraits he wanted to paint: "But it would be more in harmony with what Eugène Delacroix attempted and brought off in his Tasso in Prison, and many other pictures, representing a real man. Ah! portraiture, portraiture with the thought, the soul of the model in it, that is what I think must come."Letter 531 Van Gogh wrote to his sister in 1890 about the painting: The portraits of Dr. Gachet were completed just six weeks before Van Gogh shot himself and died from his wounds.
However, this was to be his last full season of first-class cricket, and he never again made a first-class fifty. He played three games in 1927, then nothing until his final four matches for the county seven years later, although he had turned out in the 1933 Minor Counties Championship for Staffordshire. In 1935, Foster played for MCC against Ireland at Lord's in a minor match, then in early August 1936 played in an equivalent match, but one which did qualify as first-class, at Dublin. In this, his final first-class game, Foster both captained and kept wicket, and brought off the stumping of Ireland opener Francis Connell.
The militia posted in the area managed to surprise the British party by crossing the cold, waist deep, river and capture many men and to seize back the supplies. General Dickinson Raritan, New Jersey, January 23: "I have the pleasure to inform you that on Monday last with about 450 men chiefly our militia I attacked a foraging party near V. Nest Mills consisting of 500 men with 2 field pieces, which we routed after an engagement of 20 minutes and brought off 107 horses, 49 wagons, 115 cattle, 70 sheep, 40 barrels of flour - 106 bags and many other things, 49 prisoners."Valis, Glenn. The Battle of Millstone, accessed March 12, 2006.
He missed the parade before the game due to his injury but played for the full seventy minutes, being described throughout the game by RTÉ commentator Michael O'Hehir as "the man who nearly didn't play." In spite of this injury O'Leary scored the decisive goal for Cork as the game entered the last quarter, while Martin Coleman brought off a match-winning save from Christy Keogh to foil the Wexford comeback. A 1–17 to 3–8 victory gave him his second All-Ireland medal while he was later presented with a second successive All-Star. O'Leary's season was hampered at the start of 1978 as he endured a long lay-off after having a kidney removed.
Then he saw service in the Turkish attempt to take the Suez Canal, in the bombardment of Smyrna. He also took part in the attempt to force the passage of the Dardanelles, and dealt with the large number of wounded brought off from the attempts to force a beachhead in the Landing at Cape Helles. Jeans was now posted as the Principle Medical Officer of the Portsmouth Naval Barracks for the next fifteen months, until he was appointed to the hospital ship Soudan on 24 August 1917 and remained on her until 20 March 1919. She was a P & O liner that had been taken up from trade and was refitted as a hospital ship.
Anthony was on trial with English League One side Huddersfield Town, and had been recommended to Lee Clark by former Newcastle teammate Antoine Sibierski. He received a standing ovation on his debut when he was brought off in the 87min for the Huddersfield Town Reserves in their narrow defeat to Middlesbrough Reserves losing 1–0. This is what Lee Clark said about him: "Anthony has got a good pedigree as a youngster at the Bordeaux academy, but he hasn't been associated with a club this season," said Clark, who had the player recommended by (former Newcastle teammate) Antoine Sibierski.Terriers run rule over duo – Moura-Komenan and Crossland given chance to impress Clark. Astapov in 2006, while commander of the 7th Guards Mountain Air Assault Division Astapov then carried out studies at the Frunze Military Academy, graduating in 1996 and becoming deputy commander of the 21st Airborne Brigade, which was seconded to Chechnya during the First and Second Chechen Wars. In 1999 he was given command of the , and took charge of the regiment's withdrawal from Chechnya. Despite continuing attacks on withdrawing Russian forces, Astapov brought off the withdrawal with minimal losses, and was awarded the Order of Courage, and the Medal "For Distinction in Military Service", first and second classes. He then became commander of the 7th Guards Mountain Air Assault Division between 2005 and 2007.

The estimated cost of salvaging Olympian was $17,500, an amount which it was thought would lead the owners to abandon the vessel. The owners of Olympian contracted with a local salvor to refloat the vessel for £3,500 ($17,000) on a “no cure, no pay” basis. The salvors expended £1,300 ($6,300), and then refused to proceed any further unless they were paid that amount. The owners refused to pay, and ordered Zealandia, which had been standing by, to proceed on alone if Olympian were not brought off the beach in five days. When that did not happen, Zealandia departed, leaving a few men on Olympian to protect the owners’ interest in the vessel.
The town prepared its defences - cannon were brought off ships and installed on the town's ramparts, new defences were built and the garrison was boosted by the arrival of troops from Port-Louis. On 6 October almost 15,000 militiamen were in the town, but they were all inexperienced and undisciplined. On the same day the French guns began replying to the British bombardment, using better-quality shot - the French fired chain shot and grapeshot whilst the British used bombs and exploding grenades. The following day (7 October) around 4,000 shot were fired against the British Three British deserters were also captured, revealing that the British force only amounted to 3,000 men and not the rumoured 20,000.
He was returned for Truro in the election of November 1806, and for Mitchell in May 1807 by Viscount Falmouth, in the Government interest, but resigned the seat shortly afterwards, taking the Chiltern Hundreds in July. Leveson-Gower commanded from 1811, and was serving in the Adriatic in 1813, when in late April, the boats of Elizabeth and attacked a convoy of seven merchant vessels off the River Po, capturing four, and driving the other three ashore. Of these one was brought off and another destroyed, while under fire from a shore battery, two schooners and three gun-boats. Leveson-Gower was promoted to rear admiral in 1814 and resigned his commission in 1821.
The eldest of these sons, Count Antal (1676–1722), distinguished himself in the war against Francis II Rákóczi in 1703, but changed sides in 1704 and commanded the left wing of the Kuruczis at the engagements of Nagyszombat (1704) and Vereskö (1705). In 1706 he defeated the imperialist general Guido Starhemberg and penetrated to the walls of Vienna. Still more successful were his operations in the campaign of 1708, when he ravaged Styria, twice invaded Austria, and again threatened Vienna, on which occasion the emperor Joseph I narrowly escaped falling into his hands. In 1709 he was routed by the superior forces of General Sigbert Heister at Palota, but brought off the remainder of his arms very skilfully.
The residences named as reopening were Windsor Castle, the Royal Mews and Queen's Gallery of Buckingham Palace, and Holyrood Palace. British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak unveiled the British government's plans to mitigate the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. It was announced that a VAT cut would be provided for the hospitality industry, a stamp duty holiday, and an 'eat out to help out' discount on a selected number of restaurants, whereby diners can receive fifty per cent off of their meal up to £10 per person from Monday-Wednesday. Sunak also announced that £2 billion will be spent on helping 16-25 year-olds to find employment, with businesses scheduled to receive £1,000 for each employee brought off of the furlough scheme.
A review of the 1971 Paris performance found the "strange haze of violent light", the hidden winds, the crack of the shuttle, and generally surrealist character to have an intense imaginative life . The staging has been described as an "intensely physical", multilayered experience that draws the listener through a perceptual gateway into "a mysterious auditory hinterland", suggesting Hamlet-like resignation less than the haunting pessimism of Francis Bacon . Critics are rarely unanimous, however. For example, when Trans was played in November 2008 in London (twice on the same programme), one journalist dismissed it as "inane play-acting", "the kind of piece Ligeti might have brought off with scathing wit" but in Stockhausen’s hands merely an example of "trying on the emperor's new clothes" .

Michael Owen scored twice for Newcastle United in the first 25 minutes of City's next match as St James' Park. Stoke improved greatly in the second half and when Ricardo Fuller was brought off the bench the game started to change and moments later he set up Sidibé for a simple tap in. Stoke had a number of chances to pull level and the equaliser came in stoppage time when former 'Castle player Abdoulaye Faye converted a Whelan free kick to earn Stoke a 2–2 draw. Stoke drew for the third game in a row when Fulham made the trip to the Britannia, it was a poor game of football with Richard Cresswell coming the closest to opening the scoring.

The review for The Saturday Review of Literature stated: "The inimitable Dr. Seuss has brought off a fresh triumph in his new picture book... The verse is as lively and the pages are as bright and colorful as anyone could wish." The reviewer suggested that parents and older siblings reading the book to young children would also enjoy its moral and humor.
The first shot was fired, on 16 January, by the Blanco at the Valparaiso batteries, and landing parties from the warships engaged small parties of government troops at various places during January and February. Balmaceda's principal forces were stationed in and about Iquique, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Santiago and Concepción. The troops at Iquique and Coquimbo were necessarily isolated from the rest and from each other, and military operations began, as in the campaign of 1879 in this quarter, with a naval descent upon Pisagua followed by an advance inland to Dolores. The Congressional forces failed at first to make good their footing (16–23 January), but, though defeated in two or three actions, they brought off many recruits and a quantity of munitions of war.
Carney's action as it appears on his Medal of Honor citation May 23, 1900: :When the color sergeant was shot down, this soldier grasped the flag, led the way to the parapet, and planted the colors thereon. When the troops fell back he brought off the flag, under a fierce fire in which he was twice severely wounded. The account of Sgt. Carney's action as it appeared in 'The United States Service Magazine, 1864: :As our forces retire, Sergeant Carney, who has kept the colors of his regiment flying upon the parapet of Wagner during the entire conflict, is seen creeping along on one knee, still holding up the flag, and only yielding its sacred trust upon finding an officer of his regiment.
1985; photo by Enar Merkel Rydberg In 1980, Renvall was promoted as soloist with the ABT. When Natalia Makarova mounted La Bayadere on ABT in 1980, Renvall danced the role of the Bronze Idol. This role not only won him international praise - Clement Crisp of London Financial Times said "Johan Renvall gave a display of demi-caractere virtuosity I have rarely seen equalled: a cascade of pirouettes and aerial leaps with one leg tucked under him brought off at breathtaking speed…" - but also won him the honor of the September 1980 cover of Dance Magazine, reviewing "his truly magical apparation". In September 1982, Dance Magazine's editor-in-chief William Como chose to make Renvall the subject of a featured article by Patricia Barnes titled "Johan Renvall: Independent Intelligence at Work".
The All-Ireland final on 4 September 1977 was a repeat of the previous year, with Wexford providing the opposition once again. Seánie O'Leary score the decisive goal for Cork as the game entered the last quarter, while Martin Coleman brought off a match- winning save from Christy Keogh to foil the Wexford comeback. A 1–17 to 3–8 victory gave O'Doherty a second All-Ireland medal, while he also had the honour of lifting the Liam MacCarthy Cup. He was later presented with his first All-Star. Cork made it a fourth successive provincial title in 1978, with O'Doherty also collecting his fourth winners' medal following a narrow 0–13 to 0–11 defeat of Clare. On 3 September 1978 Cork faced Kilkenny in the All-Ireland decider.
It went into winter quarters at Stafford Court House and in the following April moved on the Chancellorsville Campaign. In the battle of that name it moved steadily into the entrenchments and opened a rapid fire upon the advancing foe. As the enemy swept around the flanks of the regiment it was forced to retreat and when it reached its new position only 134 men were with the colors. It was on duty in the trenches or on the picket line until the army commenced to retire. The regiment went into action at Gettysburg with 22 commissioned officers and 236 men, of whom 19 officers and 147 men were killed, wounded or captured, leaving only 3 officers and 89 men; but this little band brought off the colors safely.
20-year- old Danny Cipriani was the main back up stand-off throughout the tournament (along with Charlie Hodgson), and replaced Wilkinson in the starting line-up for the last match of the tournament against Ireland. This was only the second time in his England career that Wilkinson was dropped to the bench (the first time being for the 1999 Rugby World Cup quarter final match with South Africa for which Paul Grayson was preferred). However, close to the start of the second half during the Ireland match on 15 March, Wilkinson was brought off the bench to replace Toby Flood, thus playing alongside Cipriani at inside centre. This suggests a possible synthesis to the balance of nurturing up-and- coming fly-halves while incorporating the leading player in the position in recent years into the squad.
On 7 April 1978, Muskein sailed from Le Havre with 33 barges under the command of General Point, but on 8 April he found his passage blocked by the British frigates HMS Diamond under Captain Sir Richard Strachan and HMS Hydra under Captain Sir Francis Laforey. At 16:00 the frigates cornered the barges in the mouth of the River Orne and opened fire, but Diamond grounded soon afterwards and although the frigate was brought off after darkness, neither side was able to inflict serious damage.Clowes (1900), pp.340-3. On 9 April the French flotilla was able to leave the Orne River and anchor in the harbour of Bernières-sur-Mer, but the arrival of the fourth rate HMS Adamant under Captain William Hotham persuaded Muskein to return to the more sheltered anchorage at the mouth of the Orne.
He made his top score of 175 against Leicestershire at Chesterfield for an opening stand in three hours of 233 with Denis Smith followed by 149 for the second wicket with Stan Worthington. In 1938 season he brought off another brilliant catch, this time off G. F. H. Heane at Trent Bridge, once again taking the ball in his outstretched right hand while running at full tilt in front of the startled members in the pavilion. With seven years out of the game during the war years, Alderman came back in 1946 with a decent statement of intent, scoring a century, and keeping his place in the team for two more years, before quitting the game at the age of 40 in 1948. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler, and occasionally a wicket-keeper.
Teresa Kearns, the 14-year-old Antrim goalkeeper from Cloughmills, made a huge contribution to victory, stopping an array of shots from the Cork attack, including a memorable save from Noreen Duggan. Mitchel Cogley wrote in the Irish Independent > The youngest player on the field made probably the most significant > contribution to Antrim’s victory. This was the 14-tyear-old Theresa Kearns, > who with Antrim leading 4-3 to 4-2 and Cork pressing desperately, brought > off a save from star Cork forward Noreen Duggan which equaled that of Art > Foley from Christy Ring the previous week. The parallel went further for, > from this escape, Antrim swept away for their fifth goal, which lcinched the > issue and brought the title up north. There was nothing between two teams in > fleetness of foot, skilful stickwork and length of striking, but Antrim’s > defence was the sounder under heavy pressure and the positional play of the > forwards was better than that of the Cork girls.
As a close friend of the Admiral he acted as an intermediary when Nelson's marriage to his wife, Frances Nelson fell apart due in large part to his affair with Emma Hamilton. The Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 Hyde Parker in 1778 was engaged in the Savannah expedition, and in the following year his ship was wrecked on the hostile Cuban coast. His men, however, entrenched themselves, and were in the end brought off safely. Parker was with his father at the Dogger Bank, and with Richard Howe in the two actions in the Straits of Gibraltar. In 1793, having just become rear admiral, he served under Samuel Hood at Toulon and in Corsica, and two years later, now a vice admiral, he took part, under Lord Hotham, in the indecisive fleet actions on 13 March 1795 and the 13 July 1795. From 1796 to 1800 he was in command at Jamaica and ably conducted the operations in the West Indies.
In a letter dated 16 April 1901, Buston was once again mentioned in Despatches for a second time by the now Earl Roberts for meritorious service, and was further awarded the Distinguished Service Order on 19 April 1901. Following the Second Boer War, Buston was at some point between 1901 and 1904 made Brevet Colonel, and was placed on to half pay on 20 September 1904 following five years service as a regimental Lieutenant Colonel. This did not last long, however, as on 21 August 1905 Buston was brought off half pay, made a Chief Engineer at Aldershot Command and granted the full rank of Colonel in the Army. Further honours were given on 29 June 1906, when Buston was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath, and on 5 October 1907, when he was made a temporary Brigadier-General for as long as he held the position of Chief Engineer.
Walsh conceded six goals over the course of the game, however, he "brought off many fantastic saves, four of them in quick succession in the opening minutes and the last, and certainly the most valuable, when he stopped a downward drive from Power, when Waterford were only two points in arrears, with only four minutes of the hour remaining." Having collected his second All-Ireland winners' medal after the 4-17 to 6-08 victory, he ended the season by being named in the goalkeeping position on the 1963 Gaelic Weekly Team of the Year. After collecting a fifth provincial title after the 4-11 to 1-08 defeat of Dublin in the 1964 Leinster final, Walsh lined out in a second consecutive All-Ireland final on 6 September 1964. In spite of being regarded as the favourites, Kilkenny ended the game as runners- up after a 5-13 to 2-08 defeat by Tipperary.
With the arrival of three British ships of war on 6 May 1776, the American army abandoned the siege of Quebec and began a retreat. Details of Warner’s role are scanty, but in a 1795 sketch of his life, pastor and newspaper editor Samuel Williams wrote, “Warner chose the most difficult part of the business, remaining always with the rear, picking up the lame and diseased, assisting and encouraging those who were the most unable to take care of themselves, and generally kept but a few miles in advance of the British, who were rapidly pursuing the retreating Americans from post to post. By steadily pursuing this conduct he brought off most of the invalids; and with his corps of the infirm and diseased he arrived at Ticonderoga, a few days after the body of the army had taken possession of the post.”Williams, Samuel. “Historical Memoirs of Colonel Seth Warner,” The Rural Magazine: Or, Vermont Repository.
" Daniel D'Addario from Variety wrote, "The quality of showmanship — the simple sense of taking joy in a production having been brought across well — seemed painfully absent from a broadcast that has little other reason to exist. Many, many people who watch the Tonys never have seen and never will see a nominated show in Manhattan; for that audience, a production brought off well before the cameras is the ceremony’s point vastly more than is a list of winners." In addition, Caroline Siede from The A.V. Club gave the show a B-, expanding in her review, "All in all, this was a mostly satisfying, if not completely exhilarating year for the Tonys. I’ll remember the winners and I’ll remember some of the musical performances, but I doubt I’ll remember James Corden's opening number in the way I still do with Neil Patrick Harris’ “Bigger” or last year's Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban's tribute to losers.

Knowle Junction signal box had to be retained, not so much to guard the points, but because the tunnel line was still signalled for bi-directional running: a single line tablet had, therefore, to be issued to each southbound train and it can only be assumed that an accumulation of tablets at Fareham East signal box meant that someone was dispatched on a fairly regular basis to return the surfeit to Knowle 'box. The first nail in the coffin of this wasteful signalling practice was hammered when the Meon Valley points were taken out of use at the end of January 1970. As mentioned above, the SLP was given enough notice and they arranged for their entire stock to be brought off of the Meon Valley line, some of it being stored out of site in Fareham goods yard until it was towed in one movement to the Longmoor Military Railway at Liss on 30 May 1970 by Crompton class '33' D6543 (later 33025). Knowle signal box continued to issue single line tablets until it closed on 6 May 1973.
Norman Samuel Crookes (born 15 November 1935) is a former cricketer who played first-class cricket in South Africa from 1962 to 1970. Norman Crookes was an off-spinner and useful lower-order batsman for Natal. On his first-class debut, in the Currie Cup in 1962-63, he took 5 for 62 and 2 for 48 in Natal's victory over Western Province. He was a steady performer over the next three seasons. His most significant performance was for a South African Colts XI against the touring MCC early in the 1964-65 season, when in difficult circumstances caused by illness to several of the team he scored 60 and 25 and took 2 for 66 and 5 for 102 and almost brought off a surprise victory.Wisden 1966, pp. 799–800.
