There Lord Liverpool, John Shore, 1st Baron Teignmouth, William Wilberforce and Zachary Macaulay had discussions, and the first meetings of the British and Foreign Bible Society were held. UniSA Magill Campus Murray had a reserved manner, at times giving the impression that he was cold in his outlook. This openness received a boost from Bhaktivinoda Thakur's broad-minded vision in the late 19th century and was institutionalized by Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur in his Gaudiya Matha in the 20th century.

As in Grace Harlowe and other girls' series of the time, Marjorie Dean upholds egalitarian principles, often at the expense of her immediate social acceptance. One historian notes, "In Marjorie, the author has constructed a character meant to represent the ideal product of an education based on the principles of democratic equality and social mobility." However, she continues, Chase's writing "suggests that Marjorie is being extremely broad-minded and even unusual in her willingness to admire" a girl of lower social standing than herself. Ayatollah al-Shaheed Sayyid Abū al-Fatḥ ʿIzz ad-Din Naṣrallāh ِal-Fāʾizī al- Mūsawī al-Ḥāʾirī (; 1696 – 1746), also known as Sayyid Nasrallah al-Haeri, was a senior Iraqi Shia jurist, teacher, poet, author and annalist. Nasrallah was a highly revered poet and influential cleric, described as being from the greatest among the scholars of his age, and was frequently labelled as a broad-minded and tolerant personality; "accepted by the opposition and the supporters". Famous Iraqi statesman Muhammad Ridha al-Shabibi described Nasrallah as "one of the literary leaders of the 18th century". He played an important role in inner-Islamic ecumenical dialogue during the Ottoman era.

The scholar B.J Ter Haar praised Teiser's approach in because it "distinguishes itself from existing historical studies by an extremely open and broad-minded attitude towards the subject and the available sources." Others saw Rutledge differently. He became a prominent breeder of fast racehorses and when he died in 1904, aged 86, was called "a great sporting enthusiast...He owned and bred some of the best horses in the district". An obituary notice described him as "most hospitable, generous, sympathetic and broad minded...(with) a bright and genial disposition". His widow Martha survived him by five years, dying in 1909.Barrow, 2005, 72-73 Thomas and Martha Rutledge lie today in the small graveyard of St. Thomas' Anglican Church, whose iron roof and steeple are just visible from Carwoola's second entrance gate, 2 km away on the Captain's Flat Road.

From the very beginning of Chaitanya's 16th century bhakti movement in Bengal, Haridasa Thakur and other born Muslims as well as those of various faiths joined together to spread love of God. This openness received a boost from Bhaktivinoda Thakura's broad-minded vision in the late 19th century and was institutionalized by Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati in his Gaudiya Matha in the 20th century. A disciple of Bhaktisiddhanta, Srila A. C. The following day, a military administration for Luxembourg was set up. Luxembourgish interests were represented by a governmental commission under Albert Wehrer, which consisted of senior civil servants and had been legitimated by the Chamber of Deputies. There was a good relationship between this commission and the military authorities, as Colonel Schumacher showed a broad-minded attitude towards the country's problems and a willingness to solve these in consultation with the government commission.

Shyamala was the daughter of an Indian civil servant, P. V. Gopalan and his wife, Rajam. Gopalan had begun his professional life as a stenographer and as he rose through the ranks of the civil service, he moved the family every few years between Madras (now Chennai), New Delhi, Bombay (now Mumbai), and Calcutta (now Kolkata). According to the Los Angeles Times, "Gopalan was a Brahmin, part of a privileged elite in Hinduism’s ancient caste hierarchy.". He and Rajam were both from Tamil Nadu state, and had married in an arranged marriage; however, according to Shyamala's brother, Balachandran, in raising the children, their parents had been broad-minded, and all of the children were to lead somewhat unconventional lives.

Jian Yong ( 180s–210s), courtesy name Xianhe, was an official serving under the warlord Liu Bei in the late Eastern Han dynasty of China. He started working under Liu Bei since the very beginning of Liu Bei's career and originally served as his lord's personal secretary and would go on to serve as a messenger, minister or emissary for his lord. He was also known for being persuasive and broad-minded and for his carefree personality. Along with Mi Zhu, Sun Qian, and later Yi Ji, Jian's ideas were widely circulated in Liu's territories, which featured Confucius values and Han loyalist arguments, he greatly helped Liu Bei's image gaining creditably to the later's populist movement.

Ford Prefect is Arthur Dent's friend – and rescuer, when the Earth is unexpectedly demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass at the start of the story. Although his heart is in the right place and he is shown to be highly intelligent, resourceful and even brave, Ford is essentially a dilettante when it comes to causes such as the search for the question to the ultimate answer of "life, the universe and everything". Ford takes a more existential view on the universe, sometimes bordering on joyful nihilism. He is eccentric and endlessly broad-minded – no doubt due to his vast experience of roughing it around the galaxy – and possesses of an off-key and often very dark sense of humour.

Reviews for Heart on Snow were mixed. Dorian Lynskey in The Guardian describes Heart on Snow as "a labour of love for which it's hard to feel much affection" and as lacking "the sly humour of Soft Cell and his best solo work" yet admires the "boldness and integrity in making an album that only uses Russian musicians". The review in Uncut states that Almond keeps his versions of the material "respectful which, despite the lack of Russian wildness, makes it (Heart on Snow) all the more moving". Paul Taylor in the Manchester Evening News describes the album as "a cunning mixture of smooth, westernised productions and balalaika-plucking, raw Russky folk stylings" and states that "anyone remotely broad-minded about their music would find this a joy".

His funeral on the following Wednesday, August 11, was marked by a Solemn High Mass of Requiem; his body was subsequently placed in a tomb specially constructed in the basement of the church at a point under the altar. Free The Youth named their NGO after their best selling t-shirts to date, the Ghetto University, which was designed to institute the fulfillment of educational goals and long term sustainability of Free The Youth. Their objective was to create a shared work- space where youth will have access to information, support, tools and mentorship opportunities to grow an art skill of their choice. Another purpose of the NGO is to nurture young art creatives with employable skills and insight like graphic design, photography, screen printing, music production, interior design and other soft skills. The NGO is dedicated in encouraging youth to be broad-minded with the notion of art as a bona fide profession, and wants to provide adequate resources, support, tools and mentorship to Ghanaian youth for future success on the global phase.

In December 1998, using a wheelchair, Hird played a brief but energetic cameo role as the mother of Dolly on Dinnerladies, a sarcastic character who was particularly bitter towards her daughter. During the First World War, Chaliapin also appeared regularly at the Zimin Private Opera in Moscow. In addition, from 1901, Chaliapin began touring in the West, making a sensational debut at La Scala that year as the devil in a production of Boito's Mefistofele, under the baton of one of the 20th century's most dynamic opera conductors, Arturo Toscanini. At the end of his career, Toscanini observed that the Russian bass was the greatest operatic talent with whom he had ever worked. The singer's Metropolitan Opera debut in the 1907 season was disappointing due to the unprecedented frankness of his stage acting; but he returned to the Met in 1921 and sang there with immense success for eight seasons, New York's audiences having grown more broad-minded since 1907.

Vasilije Mokranjac enjoyed a reputation of being a tolerant and broad-minded professor, who did not force his students to write in any particular styles and was willing to support his students in their quest for novel means of artistic expression. A term of study with Edward Neupert, the pupil of Theodor Kullak, closed her pupil life, but by no means ended her musical studies. First in Sacramento, California, and later in San Francisco, Cheney was the pioneer of a new school of musical technique, and the signal success achieved by her pupils was proof conclusive that in her treatment of piano-playing, primarily from the physiological standpoint, she enlarged and improved the methods of her masters, Reinecke, Lebert and others. The physiological investigations, which made Cheney an originator in her field of work, were instigated by her own great suffering from partial paralysis of the right hand and arm, brought on by overtaxation when completing her studies abroad. Due to this fact she was a sympathetic broad-minded, self-sacrificing educator instead of a concert pianist.

Shortly after Soloveitchik's passing, Lamm, in a eulogy for Soloveitchik delivered on April 25, 1993, urged his auditors to "guard ... against any revisionism, any attempts to misinterpret the Rav's work in both worlds [the world of Torah and the world of Madda(Science)]. Romanides belonged to the "theological generation of the 1960s", which pleaded for a "return to the Fathers", and led to "the acute polarization of the East-West divide and the cultivation of an anti-Western, anti-ecumenical sentiment." According to Kalaitzidis, his early theological interests are "wide and broad-minded", but narrowed with the publication of Romiosini in 1975, which postulates an absolute divide between the Eastern Churches and the Western Church: "[h]ereafter, the West is wholly demonized and proclaimed responsible for all the misfortunes of the Orthodox, both theological and historical/national." Romanides contributed many speculations, some controversial, into the cultural and religious differences between Eastern and Western Christianity. According to Romanides, these divergences have impacted the ways in which Christianity has developed and been lived out in the Christian cultures of East and West.

So greatly was he influenced by the French Revolution that he even dressed himself in the uniform of the National Guard and, to accord with military regulation, removed his beard. Aaron fully realized that the Jews, in receiving rights, had also duties to fulfill; and in a sermon preached during the Revolutionary period, he strongly rebuked the Jews for their aversion to handicrafts, and, as an example for them, apprenticed his son Elijah to an artisan. As a member of the Grand Sanhedrin convened by Napoleon, he delivered an impressive address on the "Relations of the Jews to Non-Jews according to Rabbinic Law," in which he demonstrated that the Talmudic opinions concerning the heathen should not be used as guides in the regulation of practical life under the conditions that existed then. Again, in purely Jewish affairs, in questions concerning rites and ceremonies, he showed himself remarkably broad- minded.

T. R. Bell, a naturalist friend, writing of him after his death said :He was a good man in every sense of the word; a strongly religious man, a pleasant companion, broad minded, exceedingly tolerant of the weaknesses of others, gentle and lovable and a rare example of a man without a single enemy. Eha once wrote: He kept many pets at home and Surgeon-General Bannerman noted in his preface to Eha's books that he often found himself having to go on unpleasant trips to the primeval forests of Cumballa Hill to look for mosquito larvae to feed the fish. In appearance Eha has been described as a long, thin, erect, bearded man...with a typically Scots face lit up with the humorous twinkle one came to know so well. A photograph taken in 1902 shows a fringe of hair encircling a bald head which is commented upon by Bannerman as "a condition which Kemp's Equatorial Hair Douche had not been able to prevent".

These exhibitions, together with exhibitions made at the State Teachers' Association and at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876, were all factors in the progress of art education in the public schools. In Syracuse, they attracted the attention of broad-minded people, and comprehensive reports upon them were made by physicians, architects, and other people of education, among whom were Dr. Martin B. Anderson, President of University of Rochester, and Dr. Andrew Dickson White, President of Cornell University. Endeavoring to spread the influence of art, Hicks assisted largely in the development of the Social Art Club of Syracuse, the purpose of which was the reading of the history of art and the study of historic and current art. Hicks was president of the club for five years, and through her efforts, its members were able to gather illustrations and to pursue a systematic course of reading relating to ancient, early Christian, and modern art.

Owen was born in Robards, Kentucky. When he was eight years old, he saw Hank Williams Sr sing, and from that time, he became completely fascinated by the star and his music. He never lost his obsession with Hank Williams, and encouraged by his wife, (who once dreamed that she saw Owen onstage at the Grand Ole Opry, but that it was Williams’ voice that she heard coming from him) he began to recreate his idol as an impressionist or impersonator.
