"Big Wheel Cannonball" (title sometimes given as Big Wheel Cannon Ball) is a song written by Vaughn Horton. It follows the same notes as the folk song "Wabash Cannonball" by The Carter Family, but its lyrics eulogise trucks and truckers rather than trains. It was originally released in 1967 by veteran Canadian singer Dick Todd, backed by the Appalachian Wildcats, on the small Peer-Southern Records label; this was shortly afterwards re-released on a national basis by Decca, and the Decca release rose to number 52 on the Billboard US Country charts, making it Todd's final chart entry. In 1970 a cover version by American country music artist Dick Curless was released.

He studied music at Selkirk College in Nelson, graduating from the Contemporary Music and Technology program with a major in performance. The Thompson family, owners of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, purchased the park in 1936, when it was called West End Amusement Park. The owners, who also owned Pleasureland Southport, which closed in 2006, introduced new rides each year until visitor numbers began to dwindle. Dustin and his wife Katie accomplished the RefugeRide from June 21 to October 9, 2013, riding big wheel unicycles coast to coast across the United States from Tybee Island, Georgia to Yachats, Oregon to raise funds for Syrian refugees. In 97 days they rode 3,511 miles (5,650 kilometers) through 14 states, raising over $37,500.

Harris was born in Sebastopol, Torfaen, a suburb of Pontypool in south Wales. A keen athlete as a youth, Harris was involved in gymnastics, rugby union and boxing. The injury left him hospital for five months, and after his release he "wasted the next three years in the pub".

Sessions were released as The Berlin Tapes under the name Iva Davies and Icehouse in 1995 on DIVA (Iva Davies own label) / Massive Records for Australian release and Warner Records for international release in 2002.

Hatebreed was formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals. Those three songs would eventually be released on a split seven-inch with New York's Neglect in 1995. They followed that with the highly acclaimed EP Under the Knife scheduled to come out on Big Wheel Recreation in 1995 but then was self-released 1996, and went out on tour around the east coast/midwest supporting UKHC band Voorhees.

His next band, Starbilly, released only one album, after which Searcy began performing solo.

Hagy is said to symbolize the term "Orioles Magic" as his cheers sometimes led to comeback victories for the Orioles. Originally Music Supervision was being handled by Colin Billing who had worked with Nicholls and Sherman on A Spoonful of Sherman the year before. In late June, Billing had to pull out from the production for personal reasons at which point Musical Director: Richard Healey stepped in to do the music arrangements for the show in just under two weeks. Taking Healey's place as Musical Director was Neil MacDonald. Rehearsals commenced in earnest on July 13, 2015 at The Big Wheel rehearsal space in Exmouth Market, London.

Near the end of 1999, many of the bands in the "indie emo" scene of the time attempted to move away from the "emo" label. As a band, Jejune began experimenting with more pure-pop leanings, and prepared to record their third album. However, tensions in the band regarding the new direction led to the band's breakup in early 2000. Later that year, Big Wheel Recreation released a compilation called RIP, which consisted of the completed demos for the third album, tracks from released singles, and a handful of unreleased songs.

Goldsmith Maid, perennial fan favorite trotter The Grand Circuit, also known as the "Big Wheel", is a group of harness racing stakes races run at various race tracks around the United States. Run on one-mile tracks, it is "the oldest continuing horse-racing series in the United States." The series was started in 1871 by Colonel Billy Edwards, of Cleveland, Ohio, L.J. Powers of Springfield, Massachusetts, E.A. Buck of Buffalo, New York, and later C.W. Hutchinson of Utica, New York. The first meeting of the Circuit was held in 1873 in Cleveland, followed by races in Springfield, Buffalo, and Utica.

Growing antipathy between Costello and Bruce Thomas contributed to the Attractions' first split in 1986, and the rift was exacerbated by what Costello felt was his unflattering portrayal in Thomas' 1990 book The Big Wheel. Despite this, the original group reunited for several tracks on Costello's 1994 album Brutal Youth and toured together over the next two years. They recorded one further album as a group (1996's All This Useless Beauty) but split for good in 1996. Nieve and Pete Thomas continued to back Costello through various touring and recording lineups, and are still members of his current backing group The Imposters.

Henry Cluney (born 4 August 1957, Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a guitarist who is best known as a former member of the band Stiff Little Fingers. He remained with the group until lead singer Jake Burns disbanded them in 1983. He toured briefly with the band Dark Lady supporting Jake Burns and the Big Wheel, notably at the Marquee Club in Wardour Street but then spent five years back in Belfast teaching guitar until Stiff Little Fingers was reformed. He was a regular songwriting contributor for the group's first four albums, taking over lead vocal duties on his own compositions.

Throughout the week, Cherry and MacLean prepared notes and sent producer Kathy Broderick a list of video clips to prepare for broadcast. Broderick would send them both an email on Friday morning, then MacLean would call Cherry at 9:30 Saturday morning to finalize the list of clips for that night's broadcast. Since Barney made a lot of money on his casino wins on the big wheel, they can use it to pay for the wedding and pay off their debts. Fred, Barney, Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm finally reunite with Wilma, Betty and the others.

Although the series itself is set in the town of Runcorn in Cheshire, the school used is Philips High School in Whitefield, which is situated about 20–30 miles away from Runcorn, and is a pleasant, leafy suburb of northwest Manchester near the market town of Bury. In the first series, some scenes set in London were actually recorded in Manchester. In one scene, the famous London Eye big wheel, had been digitally added using CGI methods, and was seen behind Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, the home of Manchester's Hallé Orchestra. Skyride is one of the few remaining dual gondola lifts in the world located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey. The Skyride carries passengers on a 1/3 mile, four-minute trip between the Fantasy Forest and the Frontier Adventures sections of the park. It is one of the few rides to allow park guests under in height to ride (including children and infants who cannot sit up by themselves) and may ride accompanied by a responsible adult. The Skyride is one of only four rides in the park (along with the Carousel, Big Wheel, and Safari Off Road Adventure) that allows cameras to be taken and used on the ride.

Deadman's Hill is a scenic overlook and trailhead near Elmira, Michigan in Antrim County within the Mackinaw State Forest; the overlook enjoys a panoramic view over the headwaters of the Jordan River, and the trailhead serves an parcel of state forestland that surrounds the same river headwaters. The overlook is located at 45.04578 N., -84.93850 W., and is accessible by all-weather gravel road from U.S. 131. The hill and overlook are named in memory of Samuel Graczyk (also known as 'Stanley' Graczyk), who perished here in a "Big wheel" accident on May 20, 1910. The relatively steep slopes of the upper Jordan River made this a dangerous area to cut down trees or transport logs.

The 'Looping Star (Great America)' went to an amusement park in Budapest together with the looping boat ride The Mary Rose. The Looping Star's sister ride made a brief appearance for two seasons at Margate (previously at Camelot Theme park) before leaving again for its current home, Loudon Castle theme park, where it is called the Twist 'n' Shout. After his purchase of the park, Godden was able to secure European and regional grant aid to assist in an initial £3m redevelopment. However, during Godden's tenure many of the rides were sold off, including the big wheel which had dominated the Margate skyline for two decades but was dismantled and sold to a park in Mexico.

Guest guitarist Richard Lloyd, founding member of the 1970s proto-punk band Television, played the guitar solo on two tracks from the album, Saturn Moved and Petals of Ruin (reprise). The album was released digitally in 2014 and on 180 gram orange vinyl in 2015 on the independent Atlanta label, No Big Wheel Records, after a successful Kickstarter campaign. The band's first single, Petals of Ruin was released digitally in 2013 in conjunction with World Goth Day, which is an annual yearly celebration every May 22, promoting tolerance of alternative subcultures. Lisa King collaborated with DJ Gori in 2014, and released a digital EP and video covering Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart as the industrial musical duo, The Von Vons. The single and video, on No Big Wheel Records, were promoted by DJ Cruel Britannia and Martin Oldgoth, the founders of World Goth Day, and all proceeds from the download went to support The Sophie Lancaster Foundation (S.O.P.H.I.E.). The Hot Place made its live debut at The International Pop Overthrow festival in Atlanta, on September 12, 2014. Following this performance, the band played an album release event at Little Tree Studios on November 15, 2014 performing with Atlanta and Athens musician Kevin Dunn.

Rothschild created his first public work in 2006 in collaboration with the children at Milwaukee’s La Causa Crisis Nursery. The large-scale painted-steel sculpture entitled Gertie Gets Her Ducks in a Row was designed to connect a story from the past to the difficult times of today. The work is now on permanent display along the Milwaukee Riverwalk. Rothschild’s work has been published in Creative Quarterly and his art has been displayed nationally. In August 2008 his steel sculpture entitled, “Big Wheel Flyer” was featured at the Craven Arts Council and Gallery’s 2008 Annual Sculpture Show in North Carolina and his sculpture entitled “M42149” was displayed and awarded honors at the Visual Arts Society of Texas’ 41st Annual Visual Arts Exhibition.

"Supposed to Say" features Lisa Jayne on guest vocals (aka LJ), a singer-songwriter with Melbourne dance-pop outfit, Jubestar. "Animal" and "The Less Trusted Pain Remover" were both included on the split EP, Jimmy Eat World/Jebediah, with United States band, Jimmy Eat World. That EP contained three tracks by each artist and was released in August 2000 on Redline Records (an independent label co-founded by Jebediah with its management company) in Australia and Big Wheel Recreation in the US. "Simple" was also included on the 2001 re-issue of the Jimmy Eat World/Jebediah split EP instead of "Animal".

In 2015 OperaUpClose presented the world premiere of Unborn in America by composer Luke Styles and librettist Peter Cant, as part of the Vault Festival; revived their production of Verdi's La Traviata at Tricycle Theatre; opened a new production of Bizet's Carmen at Soho Theatre; presented the World Premiere of Anthony Young and Leanna Brodie's family opera Ulla's Odyssey at Kings Place; and continued to tour the UK with their production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. In 2016 OperaUpClose created their first education and participation programme. Partnering with Theatre in Education company, Big Wheel, and funded by Arts Council England, they created a series of workshops that tour with their children's opera, Ulla's Odyssey. The workshops explore what an opera is, how they are performed etc.

The period from 1987 to 1997 marked Runrig's most successful run, during which they achieved placings in both the UK albums and singles charts, and toured extensively. In August 2008, CBS signed a talent development deal with O'Loughlin as the star of a TV series to be developed by writer Mark Gordon, but it did not materialise. He was cast in the lead role of the CBS hospital drama Three Rivers, developed by producer Carol Barbee, which aired Sunday evenings in the 2009–2010 season. In April 2009, he guest-starred in an episode of Criminal Minds in the Season Four episode, "The Big Wheel", as an OCD-ridden serial killer, Vincent Rowlings.

Since the show's expansion to 60 minutes in 1975, each episode features two playings of the Showcase Showdown, occurring after the third and sixth pricing games. Each playing features the three contestants who played the preceding pricing games spinning "The Big Wheel" to determine who advances to the Showcase, the show's finale. The contestants play in the order of the value of his or her winnings thus far (including the One Bid), with the contestant who has won the most spinning last. They were regulars for ten years on Wheeling, West Virginia's WWVA-AM's rival to the Grand Ole Opry, WWVA Jamboree, beginning in 1947 before joining the Opry in 1957. Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper had remarkable record success in the late 1950s and early 1960s on Hickory Records given both their bluegrass sound (which has rarely been as commercially successful) and the damage rock-n-roll was doing to country music's popularity at the time. They scored seven hit records between 1956 and 1961, with four top ten hits on Billboard charts, notably "Big Midnight Special" and "There's a Big Wheel". They remained connected to the Leary Family tradition as well, recording popular gospel songs like "The Tramp on the Street" and "Walking My Lord Up Calvary's Hill".

Much of the planting of the pleasure gardens dating from the 1870s survived until the 1970s when the gardens were removed and the rides expanded. 1976 saw the debut of a revolutionary new ride, the 'Orbiter', unveiled by travelling showman and Dreamland lessee Henry Smith, a ride which went on to become highly successful in other amusement parks and travelling fairs around the world. The Log Flume was the longest log ride constructed in the world at that time and it was accompanied by a giant "Conestoga Wagon", an over-sized log cabin restaurant called "Best of the West" and a huge Western Fortress, in the park's Rootin' Tootin' Rip Roarin' section. The Giant Wheel (now Big Wheel), then the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, and the Freedom Fountain, then the largest spraying fountain in the world, were located on the opposite end of the park. One of the few smaller-than-real life attractions was an outdoor walk-through attraction called the Garden of Marvels. It used working G-scale (o-g scale) LGB trains and boats amongst models of American landmarks and 1/25-scale recreations of European castles.

Cyril Havermans was the bassist and vocalist for a number of Dutch pop bands in the 1960s, using the stage name Carel Hagemans: Peter and the Beats (1965–66), The Heralds (1966–67), Spacial Concept (1967–68), and Big Wheel (1968–1969). In 1969 he began to perform as Cyriel Havermans in live concerts in the Netherlands with members of the nascent Focus (Thijs van Leer, Martijn Dresden, and Hans Cleuver) as his backing band. His tenure as bassist with the progressive rock band Focus lasted from late 1970 until September 1971 during which time he played many live concerts with the group and recorded Focus II (aka "Moving Waves"). In 1971 this LP won the Edison award, the Dutch equivalent to the Grammy, for best album of the year.

Stephenson uses this fact to take what starts as a mostly realistic satire and move it further and further into the realm of improbability, with giant radioactive rats, hordes of bats and a lab-made railgun. The book was written while Stephenson attended Boston University. The fictional campus' design is based on a BU dormitory, Located at 700 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts, it is one of the largest dorms in the US. The character of President Septimius Severus Krupp shares a number of similarities with then–BU President John Silber, although his name—like those of his predecessors as president of the big U—is taken from the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus. The neon Big Wheel sign plays a part reminiscent of the Boston Citgo sign just east of the BU campus in Kenmore Square.

CSK Auto experienced growth through a combination of acquisitions and a program of store construction and expansion. In 1997, CSK acquired 81 Trak Auto stores in Southern California, converting them to the Kragen name and product mix. This led to an extremely productive year in 1998, as annual sales broke the $1-billion barrier for the first time, and the company opened, expanded, or relocated a total of 130 more stores. In June 1999, CSK added 86 more Checker stores in the Northern Plains states by acquiring the Big Wheel/Rossi Auto Parts chain, and in October of that year CSK completed its acquisition of 194 Al's and Grand Auto Supply stores in Washington, California, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Alaska, solidifying its position as a retailer of automotive aftermarket parts and accessories in the western United States.

Originally The Price Was Right was to be the only determining factor in who played for the Showcase. However, by the time the show went into production in 1994 the producers and researchers did not have enough information ready to use for all the taping; thus, for some episodes (mostly airing within the first several weeks of the season), the Big Wheel was brought in to fill the void. The contestants spun in order from highest to lowest winnings, as opposed to the daytime series which did the opposite, and the object remained to get as close to one dollar without going over. However, like the daytime show, reaching one dollar exactly with up to two spins still rewarded a contestant with $1,000 and a bonus spin for a chance at $5,000 or $10,000 more, provided it went completely around.

In April 2011 Malkoff raced a crosstown Manhattan bus while riding a Big Wheel tricycle to point out how slow the buses in New York are. In July 2011, Malkoff tried to get thrown out of a Manhattan Apple Store with stunts that included having a pizza delivered, bringing in a band to play live music, bringing in a pet goat, and trying to have a quiet candlelit dinner with his wife. In August 2011, Malkoff launched "101 other things to do in Holland," besides the smoking of weed, including descend the Euromast (328 feet) in Rotterdam, try to pay off the U.S. debt by collecting money in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam and fool around with street performers at the Dam square in Amsterdam.

After their Eurovision Song Contest win, Atari kept performing with Milk and Honey. They recorded a few more songs, many of which became great hits like “Galgal Anak” (Big Wheel), which won the title Song of the year for 1980, “Shir Lashirim” (A Song for the Songs), “Yachad” (Together), and “Ulay Od Kayitz” (Maybe One Summer). In 1980, after a year of working together, Atari retired from Milk and Honey as a result of a lawsuit she filed against her manager, Shlomo Tasch. Atari claimed in court that she was not paid for about sixty performances on TV and in Europe and that once she left Milk and Honey a new vocalist was introduced and released an album with songs she recorded under the new vocalist’s name. The trial dragged on for 14 years and concluded with a win for Atari, who was awarded 800,000 Shekels (about $227,000).

Brainticket was founded by Joel Vandroogenbroeck (born Brussels, 25 August 1938; died 23 December 2019),Freek Kinkelaar, "Celestial Ocean: The Music of Brainticket", Record Collector, #460, December 2016 a Belgian who grew up studying classical piano before switching to jazz. He received the Art Tatum prize as “youngest jazz pianist” at the age of fifteen, and toured around Europe and Africa including performances with the Quincy Jones Orchestra at the World Exhibition in Brussels and the RAI symphony of Rome. By the late 1960s, Vandroogenbroeck was still playing jazz but he found new inspiration in German krautrock artists Amon Düül II, Can and Tangerine Dream. Under the influence of these groups, Joel and English guitarist Ron Bryer (who had previously played with The Loose Ends, The Carl Douglas Set and The Big Wheel before meeting Vandroogenbroeck in Berry Window & The Movements) recruited drummer Wolfgang Paap and formed the trio that would become Brainticket. The group’s 1971 debut album Cottonwoodhill featured British vocalist Dawn Muir.

The Naval involvement in Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) design had originally come about through the Royal Naval Air Service Armoured Car Division, the only British unit fielding AFVs in 1914. Surprisingly, until the end of the war, most experimentation on heavy land vehicles was conducted by the Royal Naval Air Service Squadron 20. Russian Tsar Tank At first, protecting heavy gun tractors with armour appeared the most promising line of development. Alternative early 'big wheel' designs on the lines of the Russian tsar tank of 1915 were soon understood to be impractical. However, adapting the existing Holt Company caterpillar designs, the only robust tracked tractors available in 1915 into a fighting machine, which France and Germany did, was decided against.

Cast Iron Hike was formed after the breakup of Worcester hardcore band Backbone, and featured that group's drummer (Dave Green) and guitarist (Chris Pupecki).[ Cast Iron Hike] at AllMusic They began by playing shows on the East Coast before releasing material in the mid and late 1990s in rapid succession, including EPs on Big Wheel Recreation and Trustkill Records, as well as a full-length on Victory Records. The group split up in the winter of 1997. Since then, guitarist Michael Gallagher went on to join Isis and to start MGR; Chris Pupecki currently plays guitar in both Doomriders and Blacktail; Dave Green is a university professor and the author of When Children Kill Children: Penal Populism and Political Culture (Oxford University Press); singer Jake Brennan has continued as a solo artist and as a member/producer of Bodega Girls; Pete deGraaf has played bass in a number of bands, such as Villain and CLEARTHEWAY, and works as a sound engineer.

While all price elements were intact, the series utilized format changes that were exclusive and unique to this version. Here is a list of the format changes: 1987–88: Airing only on Sunday, this format featured three pricing games, and used the Big Wheel (La Roue) to determine the two Showcase (La Vitrine) players, with players spinning only once. A variation of this format would be used on the German version of TPiR, when it premiered in 1989. 1988–2000: The format most fans are familiar with, the show expanded to seven days a week. On the Monday-Saturday shows, the show used the 1987 format, but there was only one La Roue winner; that person moved on to the Sunday finals; that used the traditional hour-long format, with the two La Roue winners advancing to La Vitrine. Since 1995, 100 on the wheel won a bonus of 1,000 francs which increased with each spin of the wheel.

The Press reported on 10 July 2009 that there had been many objections to the relocation of the wheel, and that it may never return to the city.

Apart from the Scenic Railway, the Waltzer, several carousels and most of the side stalls that were owned and operated by the Collins brothers the majority of the other major rides in the park were operated by another fairground dynasty family (since the mid-19th century), the Summers. George Summers was a major employer between the late 1950s and his death in the early 1970s when control of the firm was handed to George's sons Robert and George Jr. Other rides were operated by John Corrigan from the historical showground family. Other rides at Barry The Summers family ran the Big Wheel, Dive Bomber, Moon Rocket, Revolving Jets and Tipping Paratrooper rides along with the Mirror Maze, two One Arm Bandit Arcades and several "Prize every time" The Collins brothers went their separate ways during the early 1980s, and Pat took the reins himself. Due to a later bankruptcy the park then changed hands, and bought by Ken Rogers, the millionaire owner of the Hypervalue Group, a chain of twelve "£1 an item" budget stores in South Wales.

Green Lantern's lift hill and first drop run parallel to the lift hill of Superman Ultimate Flight, which involved the demolition of a rarely used section of the preferred parking area. In late 2010, Six Flags began the process of removing licensed theming from attractions. They terminated several licenses including their license with The Wiggles. Wiggles' World was renamed and rethemed to Safari Kids in time for the 2011 season. Also in 2011, eruption was removed. Construction for the new Funtime Slingshot replacing eruption started mid-June 2011 and was recently finished a few weeks after. In 2012, Great Adventure introduced SkyScreamer, a Funtime StarFlyer, that soars riders in a circle at speeds over 43 miles per hour (69 km/h), that opened in the spring of 2012, along with bumper cars, flying elephants, and a musical themed scrambler that opened in the newly transformed area Adventure Alley (formerly Fantasy Forest area around the Big Wheel). On February 13, 2012, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in New Jersey announced a new major water attraction King Cobra, that is the first in the United States.
