The walnut twig beetle is not the first bark beetle to be associated with a species of Geosmithia. The deaths of black walnut trees associated with the walnut twig beetle are not caused by the beetle but instead Geosmithia morbida. The origin of Geosmithia morbida is not known, but experts strongly believe that its emergence is connected to the walnut tree beetle and the Arizona walnut tree, and was not caused by the transfer of the disease from another area but instead by an evolutionary change in a similar species of fungi that inhabited closely to where the beetle was first identified. The fungus and beetle have developed a symbiotic relationship in which the fungus allows itself to be eaten by the beetle in return for a ride to the fungus's next host.

The beetle is currently only known elsewhere in Britain on Bredon Hill NNR and in Windsor Forest.
As the Rockies have not adapted to deal with pine beetle infestations, they lack the defenses to fight the beetles. Warmer weather patterns, drought, and beetle defense mechanisms together dries out sap in pine trees, which is the main mechanism of defense that trees have against the beetle, as it drowns the beetles and their eggs. This makes it easier for the beetle to infest and release chemicals into the tree, luring other beetles in an attempt to overcome the weakened defense system of the pine tree. As a consequence, the host (forest) becomes more vulnerable to the disease-causing agent (the beetle).
The confused flour beetle is very similar in appearance and habit to the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum and the destructive flour beetle, Tribolium destructor. Both the confused flour beetle and red flour beetle are small, about 3–6 mm (1/8-1/4 inch) in length, and reddish-brown in color. The primary distinguishing physical difference is the shape of their antennae: the confused flour beetle's antennae increase gradually in size and have four clubs, while the red flour beetle's antennae have only three. Additionally, red flour beetles have been known to fly short distances, while confused flour beetles do not.

The researches retrieved one of the vine's natural predators, the Hypena opulenta moth, and saw successful results with decreased vines across the areas where this tactic was implemented while not affecting local species. Her current research is on population control of the invasive lily leaf beetle, which also involves using the species' natural predator, the Tetrastichus setifer, a non- stinging parasitic wasp that only attacks the beetle. The wasps lay eggs on the beetle larvae, and the wasp larvae eat the beetle larvae from the inside. Results with the lily leaf beetle have been found to be up to 90 percent effective.

The beetle uses in its principal eyes two retinas and two distinct focal planes that are substantially separated, in the manner of bifocals to switch their vision from up-close to distance, for easy and efficient capture of their prey.
Mexican bean beetle "Mummy" (larva parasitized by Pediobius foveolatus) Pediobius foveolatus wasps Managing Mexican bean beetle using Pediobius foveolatus can be difficult due to its sensitivity to cool, wet weather, and the need for a release date to line up with the phenology of Mexican bean beetle larvae. Ideally, Pediobius foveolatus is released at both one and two weeks after first instar Mexican bean beetle larvae are discovered in beans. Pediobius foveolatus wasps reproduce most successfully within the older and larger beetle larvae; if older, larger Mexican bean beetle instars are present when Pediobius foveolatus is released, they will be without a host. Pediobius foveolatus is also sensitive to cold and wet weather, and are unlike to survive when released in these conditions.

Four species within the genus Oemona have been identified, suggesting that more species could be found.
Field collections in Eurasia reveal that the larger tamarisk beetle feeds on at least nine species of tamarisks, including Tamarix ramosissima which is widely invasive in western North America. The larger tamarisk beetle will severely defoliate tamarisk in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Extensive laboratory host range studies verified that larger tamarisk beetle is a specialist feeder on tamarisks, feeding only on plants of the tamarisk family, Tamaricaceae. In laboratory and field cage studies, the larger tamarisk beetle will also feed and complete development on Frankenia shrubs, distant relatives of tamarisks in the same plant order Caryophyllales, but larger tamarisk beetle greatly prefer to lay eggs upon tamarisk.
Ad for The Blue Beetle radio series Blue Beetle was selling well in comics in 1940, so Fox licensed the character to CBS Radio for a syndicated Blue Beetle radio serial, hoping to match the success of The Adventures of Superman, which began in February 1940. The Blue Beetle launched on May 15, 1940, starring motion picture and radio actor Frank Lovejoy in the title role. As in the comics, Blue Beetle was a young police officer who saw the need for extraordinary crime fighting, and secretly dons a superhero costume to frighten the criminals who oppose him. The show was not a success.

The 1600 model was introduced to South Africa in 1972; it was marketed as the cheapest 1.6-liter car available there. In late 1976, the sporty SP 1600 Beetle arrived – this version received bright red, yellow, or silver paint with black stripes, a front spoiler, wide tyres, and a more powerful engine with twin carburettors and a freer flowing exhaust.
A New Beetle "slug bug" Some variations consider the 1998-2010 Beetle and 2011-2019 Beetle invalid for game purposes but as older models become rarer, variations may choose to include the new Beetles. Others allow "classic" Beetles to count for two punches. In Brazil, a popular version of the game is played when a blue Volkswagen Beetle is seen. The first individual to notice it has to scream 'Fusca Azul', which stands for 'Blue Beetle', while others close their arms around their breasts and say 'Fechei' (I closed it), and the person who forgets or refuses to say 'Fechei' may have their arm punched as a punishment.

Adult beetles average between 1.5 to 1.9 millimeters in length. Although little is known about the life-cycle of the walnut twig beetle, during experimentation with the beetle in a controlled environment, the lifespan of one generation of walnut twig beetles was seven weeks after logs of black walnut, Juglans nigra, were harvested from the wild in May, marking what scientists think is the beginning of the feeding season of the walnut twig beetle. Gatherings of the beetle in sections of the walnut tree are known as galleries. The outward appearance of the walnut above these galleries seemed normal except for small beetle entrance holes.
Without these pines, animals do not have adequate food, water, or shelter, and the reproductive life cycle, as well as quality of life, is affected as a consequence. Normally, the pine beetle cannot survive in these frigid temperatures and high elevation of the Rocky Mountains. However, warmer temperatures means that the pine beetle can now survive and attack these forests, as it no longer is cold enough to freeze and kill the beetle at such elevations. Increased temperatures also allow the pine beetle to increase their life cycle by 100%: it only takes a single year instead of two for the pine beetle to develop.
