Wilkinson was the second woman, after Margaret Bondfield, to achieve a place in the British cabinet. As Minister of Education she saw as her main task the implementation of the 1944 Education Act passed by the wartime coalition.Bartley, pp. 123–24. This Act provided universal free secondary education, and raised the minimum school leaving age from 14 to 15 with effect from 1947.

Coalville Town Football Club – known as The Ravens currently play in the Northern Premier League. In 2010–11 Coalville reached the FA Vase final becoming the first Leicestershire team to achieve a place in the final. The Coalville Rugby Football Club was founded in 1902 and has a modern clubhouse off Hall Lane, Whitwick, replacing one that had previously stood on Broom Leys Road. The District Council's Hermitage Leisure Centre off Silver Street, Whitwick, was officially opened on 30 April 1981 by Olympic athlete Sebastian Coe.

With FC Rouen in 2012–13, Soubervie helped the club achieve a place in promotion to the Ligue 2 but the club went bankrupt and was relegated to the Division d' Honneur. Looking for a right-back, then SR Colmar coach Didier Ollé-Nicolle contacted Soubervie, whom he knew from his FC Rouen days, knowing he would adapt well to the club. He then signed for them, accumulating four goals and seven assists that season. Through his career, the right-back has specialized in free-kicks and set-pieces from his days with OGC Nice.

Prior to the 2014 African Women's Championship, Ohiaeriaku was included in a provisional squad for the Nigeria women's national football team. She was part of the team at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, being one of three goalkeepers chosen. She did not start any games, instead being an unused substitute for the matches against the United States, Australia and Sweden in what was described as a "group of death". In the run up to the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, she hoped her continued football in Sweden would help her achieve a place in the squad.

On the other hand, the DFB team changed its line-up after the loss, and went on to win all games in the other second round group B, against Yugoslavia, Sweden, Poland, and the World title against the Netherlands. East Germany nearly secured qualification for the 1990 World Cup, needing only a draw versus Austria in Vienna in their final group match on 15 November 1989 to achieve a place in Italy. However, Toni Polster scored three times as Austria won 3–0 and advanced to the finals instead. Born in Osasco, Benazzi made his managerial debuts with Grêmio Sãocarlense, his last professional club, in 1989. With the club he also won the Campeonato Paulista Série A3. After being highly known for taking lower clubs to promotion places, Benazzi joined Avaí in 2006, helping the club to achieve a place in 2007 Copa do Brasil. He subsequently moved to Portuguesa, being promoted with the club and also winning the Campeonato Paulista Série A2. On 10 October 2010, after managing Ponte Preta, Vila Nova and Portuguesa, Benazzi returned to Avaí,Benazzi é o novo técnico (Benazzi is the new manager); Avaí's official website, 10 October 2010 with the club narrowly avoiding relegation in the year's Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. On 14 February of the following year, however, he was relieved from his duties.

He was named as PSL Coach of the Season at the end of the 2005-06 season. Da Gama led Silver Stars to victory in the 2006 Telkom Knockout Cup with Simba Marumo scoring a first-half hat-trick in a 3–1 win against Ajax Cape Town at the Atteridgeville Super Stadium. In the 2006-07 season, Silver Stars finished 2nd in the league and managed to achieve a place in the 2008 CAF Champions League. In September 2007, he replaced Bibey Mutombo as the head coach of Orlando Pirates after 6 games of the season and the team at the bottom of the league standings. After only eight months in charge have taken over The Buccaneers ended Da Gama's only season in charge in 8th place - Da Gama quit the club in June 2008.

Following a poor season in 2001–2002, Harold dropped out of the Top 16, down to number 29 in the World Rankings. A broken wrist sustained on New Year's Eve 2003 saw him drop further down the rankings, out of the top 32, although he had a better 2005/2006 season. Another consistent season in 2006/2007 helped Harold back up to No. 30 in the world rankings for 2007/2008. 2007/2008 started with a quarter-final appearance in the Shanghai Masters, losing to eventual winner Dominic Dale. Harold did not get past the round robin phase of the Grand Prix, finishing fifth in his group of six players; but in the 2007 UK Championship, Harold eliminated World Number 2 Graeme Dott 9–7 in the first round to achieve a place in the last 16 of the tournament for the first time since 1999.

With local hero Gustinetti back in charge of the team and despite a lineup composed of relative unknowns, the club's 2007–08 campaign started surprisingly well, with the team leading the Serie B table for a few weeks and arousing the interest of the national media, which began providing regular coverage of the team's games. This has thus far failed to improve the club's low home attendance, however. During the season, AlbinoLeffe confirmed as a potential candidate for direct promotion to Serie A, however a string of poor results, ended with four consecutive home defeats, the final one being a 0–4 loss to Rimini, denied them the chance to achieve a place in the top two, and persuaded club chairman Gianfranco Andreoletti to sack Gustinetti, who then confirmed not to be in good relationships with the chairman, and appoint youth team coach Armando Madonna as caretaker boss for the final regular season match and the following promotion playoffs. Even after a 1–0 loss to Brescia, AlbinoLeffe managed to win at home in the second leg (2–1) and qualified for the final against Lecce.
